2013-03-18Merge of the PyNodes branch (aka "custom nodes") into trunk.Lukas Toenne
PyNodes opens up the node system in Blender to scripters and adds a number of UI-level improvements. === Dynamic node type registration === Node types can now be added at runtime, using the RNA registration mechanism from python. This enables addons such as render engines to create a complete user interface with nodes. Examples of how such nodes can be defined can be found in my personal wiki docs atm [1] and as a script template in release/scripts/templates_py/custom_nodes.py [2]. === Node group improvements === Each node editor now has a tree history of edited node groups, which allows opening and editing nested node groups. The node editor also supports pinning now, so that different spaces can be used to edit different node groups simultaneously. For more ramblings and rationale see (really old) blog post on code.blender.org [3]. The interface of node groups has been overhauled. Sockets of a node group are no longer displayed in columns on either side, but instead special input/output nodes are used to mirror group sockets inside a node tree. This solves the problem of long node lines in groups and allows more adaptable node layout. Internal sockets can be exposed from a group by either connecting to the extension sockets in input/output nodes (shown as empty circle) or by adding sockets from the node property bar in the "Interface" panel. Further details such as the socket name can also be changed there. 2013-02-27Added RGBA|RGB channels toggle to sequencer previewSergey Sharybin
Main purpose of this is to be more compatible with older versions of blender (before alpha cleanup) where sequencer used to display premultiplied image on an straight opengl viewport. Now sequencer preview would behave closer to image editor However adding Alpha and R|G|B displays is not so simple because sequencer is using 2D textures. Would be nice to implement this options as well, but this is not so much important IMO. This hall fix - #34453: VSE: Subtract function does not work properly TODO: Make RGBA display default for our startup.blend

- Cycles materials now render in Blender Internal too, skipping the nodes. Not very useful, but at least things then show up on renders and in previews. - Node editor: if wrong shader nodes are in a tree, they draw with thene color RED ALERT headers now. (Switching render engine will show it).
2013-01-23rigidbody: Add point cache supportSergej Reich
Add read/write/interpolate functions. In order to get rigid body point cache id from object it's now required to pass the scene to BKE_ptcache_ids_from_object(). Rigid body cache is drawn in the orange color of the bullet logo.
2013-01-23sim: Remove "continue physics" codeSergej Reich
This was left over from 2.4x days and is not used anymore. Now simulations are always interactive.
2012-12-22Reshuffled data view for Outliner.Ton Roosendaal
- The new "Main Data" option is now under the category "Blender File". - That category also displays the Linked Library files. (Including allows browsing what's used from this file) Also fixed CTRL+click on names, crashed.
2012-12-22From the long todo:Ton Roosendaal
New Outliner mode: "Main Data". This shows a flattened, non-hierarchical list of all linkable "ID" data in your current project. It works fine on searches. Actually this is the view on the "Main" database in Blender, the one that's saved in a .blend. This is in general more useful than the "Datablocks" viewer, which is not searchable, and shows every property of data as well.

2012-12-17fix [#33501] Grease pencil in OpenGL renderCampbell Barton
With the view3d 'Render Only' option, grease pencil wouldn't draw, but for OpenGL render it did. Since grease pencil can be very useful in opengl renders, enable grease pencil drawing with 'Render Only' option in the viewport, and add a checkbox in the grease pencil header not to draw (unchecking each layer is annoying and applies to all spaces).
2012-12-12Holiday coding log :)Ton Roosendaal
Nice formatted version (pictures soon): http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.66/Usability Short list of main changes: - Transparent region option (over main region), added code to blend in/out such panels. - Min size window now 640 x 480 - Fixed DPI for ui - lots of cleanup and changes everywhere. Icon image need correct size still, layer-in-use icon needs remake. - Macbook retina support, use command line --no-native-pixels to disable it - Timeline Marker label was drawing wrong - Trackpad and magic mouse: supports zoom (hold ctrl) - Fix for splash position: removed ghost function and made window size update after creation immediate - Fast undo buffer save now adds UI as well. Could be checked for regular file save even... Quit.blend and temp file saving use this now. - Dixed filename in window on reading quit.blend or temp saves, and they now add a warning in window title: "(Recovered)" - New Userpref option "Keep Session" - this always saves quit.blend, and loads on start. This allows keeping UI and data without actual saves, until you actually save. When you load startup.blend and quit, it recognises the quit.blend as a startup (no file name in header) - Added 3D view copy/paste buffers (selected objects). Shortcuts ctrl-c, ctrl-v (OSX, cmd-c, cmd-v). Coded partial file saving for it. Could be used for other purposes. Todo: use OS clipboards. - User preferences (themes, keymaps, user settings) now can be saved as a separate file. Old option is called "Save Startup File" the new one "Save User Settings". To visualise this difference, the 'save startup file' button has been removed from user preferences window. That option is available as CTRL+U and in File menu still. - OSX: fixed bug that stopped giving mouse events outside window. This also fixes "Continuous Grab" for OSX. (error since 2009)

2012-10-28Improvements of Freestyle GUI controls - Part 1.Tamito Kajiyama
This commit makes a set of fixes and improvements based on the results of Freestyle branch review by Brecht. The discussion thread is: http://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf-committers/2012-October/037927.html * The Layers panel and Freestyle-related panels in the Render tab of the Properties window were moved to the newly created Render Layers tab. The idea is to separate per render layer rendering options into a distinct Properties window tab, and use the existing Render tab to accommodate per scene rendering options. * The new Freestyle panel was added in the Render tab. The panel header contains a toggle button for globally enabling Freestyle, with the aim of making Freestyle easier to find. Those Freestyle options in the Post Processing panel were also moved to the new panel. * GUI code was updated so that UI controls will be greyed out (instead of being hidden) when Freestyle is disabled. Additional UI changes were also made to reduce space consumption. * The list of line sets was moved from the Freestyle panel to the Freestyle: Line Sets panel. * Old ray-casting algorithms were removed from the UI. Now only two algorithms (culled and non-culled cumulative visibility detection algorithms) are available, and the selection is done by the new "Culling" toggle button within the edge detection options.

2012-09-15Color Management, Stage 2: Switch color pipeline to use OpenColorIOSergey Sharybin
Replace old color pipeline which was supporting linear/sRGB color spaces only with OpenColorIO-based pipeline. This introduces two configurable color spaces: - Input color space for images and movie clips. This space is used to convert images/movies from color space in which file is saved to Blender's linear space (for float images, byte images are not internally converted, only input space is stored for such images and used later). This setting could be found in image/clip data block settings. - Display color space which defines space in which particular display is working. This settings could be found in scene's Color Management panel. When render result is being displayed on the screen, apart from converting image to display space, some additional conversions could happen. This conversions are: - View, which defines tone curve applying before display transformation. These are different ways to view the image on the same display device. For example it could be used to emulate film view on sRGB display. - Exposure affects on image exposure before tone map is applied. - Gamma is post-display gamma correction, could be used to match particular display gamma. - RGB curves are user-defined curves which are applying before display transformation, could be used for different purposes. All this settings by default are only applying on render result and does not affect on other images. If some particular image needs to be affected by this transformation, "View as Render" setting of image data block should be set to truth. Movie clips are always affected by all display transformations. This commit also introduces configurable color space in which sequencer is working. This setting could be found in scene's Color Management panel and it should be used if such stuff as grading needs to be done in color space different from sRGB (i.e. when Film view on sRGB display is use, using VD16 space as sequencer's internal space would make grading working in space which is close to the space using for display). Some technical notes: - Image buffer's float buffer is now always in linear space, even if it was created from 16bit byte images. - Space of byte buffer is stored in image buffer's rect_colorspace property. - Profile of image buffer was removed since it's not longer meaningful. - OpenGL and GLSL is supposed to always work in sRGB space. It is possible to support other spaces, but it's quite large project which isn't so much important. - Legacy Color Management option disabled is emulated by using None display. It could have some regressions, but there's no clear way to avoid them. - If OpenColorIO is disabled on build time, it should make blender behaving in the same way as previous release with color management enabled. More details could be found at this page (more details would be added soon): http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.64/Color_Management -- Thanks to Xavier Thomas, Lukas Toene for initial work on OpenColorIO integration and to Brecht van Lommel for some further development and code/ usecase review!
2012-08-12Sequencer: overlay display type optionsSergey Sharybin
Before this overlay would happen only for defined rectangle area, now it's possible to show current / reference frames only, which makes it possible to do more real slit view involving even displaying frames on different monitors. Still some work need to be done to clean interface up and support displaying color information for reference shot.
2012-08-08Renamed the mx/my coordinates in SpaceNode to more descriptive 'cursor'. ↵Lukas Toenne
This follows the naming in the View3D space, since this vector is used for essentially the same purpose (adding nodes at a specific location), although not used for any transform origin and not displayed in the editor. Note: While renaming DNA properties is usually dangerous and can break files, in this case it is possible because the mx/my values are only used at runtime.

2012-06-12Make dopesheet settings per-tracking dataSergey Sharybin
It was a bit confusing to synchronize settings used in pre-calculated dopesheet channels which was storing in tracking data with settings used for display which is in space data. This was initially done by converting one flags to other and checking if space's settings matches pre-calculated one, but that had several issues if two different dopesheet are using different settings: - Channels would be re-calculated on every redraw for each of spaces - Dopesheet operators could fail due to the could be using channels calculated for other space. That was also quite nasty code checking if requested settings matches pre-calculated one.

2012-06-10Support for per-track Grease Pencil datablocks for motion trackingSergey Sharybin
Originally was needed to reach easy way of defining masks used for tracking (do eliminate textures which doesn't belong to feature when tracking. Implemented as alternative to GP datablock for clip and added switch between per-clip and per-track GP datablocks -- internal limitations of GP doesn't allow to display all GP datablocks easily. So either you see.edit GP associated with clip or with track. GP strokes associated with track are relative to track's position, following tracks during tracking and could be shared between several tracks. Masking code presents in libmv and there's rasterizer of GP datablocks for masks in blender's tracking module, but they still need to be glued together. Some documentation cound be found at this page: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.64/Motion_Tracker#Grease_Pencil

2012-05-24Code Cleanup - DNA_space_types.h - Part 2 - Rearranging StuffJoshua Leung
* Moved all enums to immediately follow the struct(s) that they are used for/by. Less jumping around the file to find these * Reshuffled the order of a few structs/editor groupings. For example, now all animation editors are grouped together, and most general/property editors are grouped together.
2012-05-24Code Cleanup - DNA_space_types.h - Replaced all #define-lists with enumsJoshua Leung
* All lists of #defines now replaced with enums * All flags are now defined using the "(1 << x)" style, which is easier to read/maintain than the other variations
2012-05-24Restoring Group Colours for Animation Channels - Part 1Joshua Leung
This commit restores the group colours support for F-Curves and F-Curve Groups in the DopeSheet and Graph Editors. Currently the relevant settings for groups are only exposed via RNA, but a followup commit will add support for automatically setting these colours. By default, DopeSheet and Graph Editors are set to display these colours if/when they are available. This functionality used to be in 2.48, and is a useful mechanism for visually distinguishing between channels for different controls when animating (if group colours are used on the rigs too).
2012-05-03Clip editor: sort order for dopesheet channelsSergey Sharybin
Supported sorting by name, longest tracked segment and total tracked frames. Internally tracks are stored in Tracking datablock, but sort order is a clip editor space property and sorting happens on clip editor draw. If there's no dopesheet opened with different sort orders it's not a problem due to re-sorting wouldn't happen. Also fixed draw issue of tracked segments introduced in previous commit.
2012-04-30Camera tracking: initial commit of dopesheet view for clip editorSergey Sharybin
- Displays dopesheet information for selected tracks, and currently does not support any kind of editing. - Changed regions to use the whole main region for such views as curves and dopesheet. This allows to have own panels with tools/properties in this area. - Active clip is getting synchronized between different clip editor editors in the same screen, so updating of curve/dopesheet views happens automatically when one changes current clip in one of this editors. - Panels in toolbox and properties panels are now separated to rely on current view mode, but some operators and poll functions still need to be updated. - Added new screen called "Movie Tracking" where layout is configured to display timeline, main clip window, curves and dopesheet.
2012-04-30Camera tracking: use texture buffers (if supported) to display clip editor ↵Sergey Sharybin
frames Use texture buffers to display frames of footage in clip editor. This allows to apply bilinear filtering of proxied resolution which. This also resolves incredibly slow performance when drawing 4K footage on some videocards (was originally noticed on macbook pro). Also this allows to avoid sending the whole frame to the video memory when working with a single frame (i.e. before this patch the whole frame would be send to the videocard when panning frame).
