Merge branch 'jc/maint-co-track'
* jc/maint-co-track:
Enhance hold_lock_file_for_{update,append}() API
demonstrate breakage of detached checkout with symbolic link HEAD
Fix "checkout --track -b newbranch" on detached HEAD
