2013-03-18Merge of the PyNodes branch (aka "custom nodes") into trunk.Lukas Toenne
PyNodes opens up the node system in Blender to scripters and adds a number of UI-level improvements. === Dynamic node type registration === Node types can now be added at runtime, using the RNA registration mechanism from python. This enables addons such as render engines to create a complete user interface with nodes. Examples of how such nodes can be defined can be found in my personal wiki docs atm [1] and as a script template in release/scripts/templates_py/custom_nodes.py [2]. === Node group improvements === Each node editor now has a tree history of edited node groups, which allows opening and editing nested node groups. The node editor also supports pinning now, so that different spaces can be used to edit different node groups simultaneously. For more ramblings and rationale see (really old) blog post on code.blender.org [3]. The interface of node groups has been overhauled. Sockets of a node group are no longer displayed in columns on either side, but instead special input/output nodes are used to mirror group sockets inside a node tree. This solves the problem of long node lines in groups and allows more adaptable node layout. Internal sockets can be exposed from a group by either connecting to the extension sockets in input/output nodes (shown as empty circle) or by adding sockets from the node property bar in the "Interface" panel. Further details such as the socket name can also be changed there. 2013-02-10add option not to calculate tessellation faces when converting an object to ↵Campbell Barton
a mesh. (OBJ export no longer needs, so save some CPU cycles and skip tessellation)
2013-02-05Fix #34040: Moving Normal Node with enabled Cycles Material Preview crashesSergey Sharybin
Issue was caused by couple of circumstances: - Normal Map node requires tesselated faces to compute tangent space - All temporary meshes needed for Cycles export were adding to G.main - Undo pushes would temporary set meshes tessfaces to NULL - Moving node will cause undo push and tree re-evaluate fr preview All this leads to threading conflict between preview render and undo system. Solved it in way that all temporary meshes are adding to that exact Main which was passed to Cycles via BlendData. This required couple of mechanic changes like adding extra parameter to *_add() functions and adding some *_ex() functions to make it possible RNA adds objects to Main passed to new() RNA function. This was tricky to pass Main to RNA function and IMO that's not so nice to pass main to function, so ended up with such decision: - Object.to_mesh() will add temp mesh to G.main - Added Main.meshes.new_from_object() which does the same as to_mesh, but adds temporary mesh to specified Main. So now all temporary meshes needed for preview render would be added to preview_main which does not conflict with undo pushes. Viewport render shall not be an issue because object sync happens from main thread in this case. It could be some issues with final render, but that's not so much likely to happen, so shall be fine. Thanks to Brecht for review!
2013-01-16Movies support for CyclesSergey Sharybin
This adds support of movie textures for Cycles rendering. Uses the same builtin images routines as packed/generated images, but with some extra non-rna hookups from blender_session side. Basically, it's not so clear how to give access to video frames via C++ RNA -- it'll require exposing ImBuf to API, doing some threading locks and so. Ended up adding two more functions which are actually bad level call, but don't consider it's so much bad -- we have few bad calls already, which are actually related. Changed a bit how builtin images names are passing to image manager. Now it's not just an ID datablock name, but also a frame number concatenated via '@' character, which makes itpossible to easily know frame number to be used for movie images, without adding extra descriptors to image manager. Decoding of builtin name is a bit slower now, but it should be still nothing in comparison with rendering complexity. Also exposed image user's frame_current to python API, which is needed to get absolute frame number of movie from node's image user. P.S. Generated/packed images are also using bad level call but only does it to make things more clear here. Either all images are using C++ RNA here or no images does. That's the most clear for now.
2013-01-03Cycles Hair: add Generated texture coordinates for curves, so that proceduralBrecht Van Lommel
textures now work without having to add a UV map. Also made UV and intercept attributes only export when needed by the shader.
2012-12-11Cycles: RGB and Vector Curves nodes now supported, with the limitation that theBrecht Van Lommel
range must be left to the default (0..1 and -1..1).
2012-12-04Fix #33405: preview render getting stuck in a particular .blend file, ObjectKeyBrecht Van Lommel
operator< had wrong brackets, changed it now to be more clear. Fix #33404: crash GPU rendering with OSL option still enabled. There was a check to disable OSL in this case, but it shouldn't have modified scene->params because this is used for comparison in scene->modified().

NULL in cycles.
2012-11-08Fix #33113: cycles not rendering motion blur correct with dying particles.Brecht Van Lommel
There were a bunch of other issues with dupli motion blur and syncing, the problem being that there was no proper way to detect corresponding duplis between frames or updates. As a solution, a persistent_id was added to the DupliObject. It's an extension of the previous index value, with one index for each dupli level. This can be used to reliably find matching dupli objects between frames. Works with nested duplis, multiple particle systems, etc.
2012-11-03Cycles: use mikktspace now for computing tangents from UV maps. This avoids uglyBrecht Van Lommel
averaged tangents at UV seams but instead now the seams will show as discontinuities in the tangent.
2012-11-02RNA C++: fixes for lookup_int/lookup_string which were not working in some ↵Brecht Van Lommel
cases, and don't use ReportList for function arguments.
2012-10-22RNA C++ API improvementsSergey Sharybin
Added support of such features, as: - Ability to call RNA functions using C++ classes For example RenderEngine.tag_update - Property setters (for scalars and arrays) Used Qt/jQuery-like getters/setters style, meaning Class.prop() is a getter, Class.prop(value) is a setter. Still to come: Collection functions are not currently registering inside a property Meaning BlendData.meshes wouldn't be a subclass of BlendDataMeshes result you'll need to explicitly create BlendDataMeshes for now instead of doing BlendData.meshes.remove()
2012-10-05Cycles: add "From Dupli" option for texture coordinate node. This gets theBrecht Van Lommel
Generated and UV coordinates from the duplicator of instance instead of the object itself. This was used in e.g. Big Buck Bunny for texturing instanced feathers with a UV map on the bird. Many files changed, mainly to do some refactoring to get rid of G.rendering global in duplilist code.

2012-08-31Added a bunch of additional particle state attributes to the Cycles particle ↵Lukas Toenne
info node: * Location: Basically the same as the location from Object Info node for object instances on particles, but in principle there could be additional offsets for dupli objects, so included for completeness. * Size: Single float scale of the particle. Also directly translates to object scale for current dupli objects, but handy to have as a single float to start with instead of a scale vector (currently not even exposed in Object Info). * Rotation: This is a quaternion, which are not yet supported by Cycles nodes. The float4 is copied to internal Cycles data and stored in the particles texture data, but the node doesn't have a socket for it yet and the data is not yet written to the stack. Code is just commented out so could be enabled quickly if/when rotation support is added to cycles. * Velocity: Linear velocity vector of particles. * Angular Velocity: Angular velocity around principle axes. The texture data is currently packed tightly into the particles texture, which saves a few bytes, but requires an additional texture lookup for some vector attributes which spread over two float4s. Could also add another float4 to particle size to avoid this.
2012-08-31Fix for #32184 and redesign of particle storage in Cycles.Lukas Toenne
The particle data used by the Particle Info node was stored in cycles as a list in each object. This is a problem when the particle emitter mesh is hidden: Objects in cycles are only intended as instances of renderable meshes, so when hiding the emitter mesh the particle data doesn't get stored either. Also the particle data can potentially be copied to multiple instances of the same object, which is a waste of texture space. The solution in this patch is to make a completely separate list of particle systems in the Cycles scene data. This way the particle data can be generated even when the emitter object itself is not visible.

2012-06-10Fix #31747, broken image sequence loading after r47432.Lukas Toenne
The image file name function was updating the iuser->framenr using a supposed cfra parameter. However, the actual cfra is unknown when loading movies or sequences, so the iuser->framenr value itself was passed in its place, leading to incremental addition of the iuser frame offset. Removed the cfra parameter altogether from the image path function. This should instead be done separately if necessary, it's not an inherent part of constructing the image file name.

2012-04-30Cycles: support for motion vector and UV passes.Brecht Van Lommel
Most of the changes are related to adding support for motion data throughout the code. There's some code for actual camera/object motion blur raytracing but it's unfinished (it badly slows down the raytracing kernel even when the option is turned off), so that code it disabled still. Motion vector export from Blender tries to avoid computing derived meshes when the mesh does not have a deforming modifier, and it also won't store motion vectors for every vertex if only the object or camera is moving.
