2021-09-21Cycles: merge of cycles-x branch, a major update to the rendererBrecht Van Lommel
This includes much improved GPU rendering performance, viewport interactivity, new shadow catcher, revamped sampling settings, subsurface scattering anisotropy, new GPU volume sampling, improved PMJ sampling pattern, and more. Some features have also been removed or changed, breaking backwards compatibility. Including the removal of the OpenCL backend, for which alternatives are under development. Release notes and code docs: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference/Release_Notes/3.0/Cycles https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Source/Render/Cycles Credits: * Sergey Sharybin * Brecht Van Lommel * Patrick Mours (OptiX backend) * Christophe Hery (subsurface scattering anisotropy) * William Leeson (PMJ sampling pattern) * Alaska (various fixes and tweaks) * Thomas Dinges (various fixes) For the full commit history, see the cycles-x branch. This squashes together all the changes since intermediate changes would often fail building or tests. Ref T87839, T87837, T87836 Fixes T90734, T89353, T80267, T80267, T77185, T69800
2019-04-17ClangFormat: apply to source, most of internCampbell Barton
Apply clang format as proposed in T53211. For details on usage and instructions for migrating branches without conflicts, see: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Tools/ClangFormat
2018-11-09Cycles: Cleanup, spacing after preprocessorSergey Sharybin
It is supposed to be two spaces before comment stating which if else/endif statements corresponds to. Was mainly violated in the header guards.
2018-07-06Cleanup: strip trailing space for cyclesCampbell Barton
2018-05-06Fix T54801: incorrect render with zero weight transparent BSDFs.Brecht Van Lommel
2018-02-22Cycles: better path termination for transparency.Brecht Van Lommel
We now continue transparent paths after diffuse/glossy/transmission/volume bounces are exceeded. This avoids unexpected boundaries in volumes with transparent boundaries. It is also required for MIS to work correctly with transparent surfaces, as we also continue through these in shadow rays. The main visible changes is that volumes will now be lit by the background even at volume bounces 0, same as surfaces. Fixes T53914 and T54103.
2017-11-05Code refactor: sum transparent and absorption weights outside closures.Brecht Van Lommel
2015-03-25Fix T44123: Cycles SSS renders black in recent buildsSergey Sharybin
Issue was introduced in 01ee21f where i didn't notice *_setup() function only doing partial initialization, and some of parameters are expected to be initialized by callee function. This was hitting only some setups, so tests with benchmark scenes didn't unleash issues. Now it should all be fine. This is to go to the 2.74 branch and we actually might re-AHOY.
2015-03-23Fix T43926: Volume scatter: intersecting objects GPU rendering artifactsSergey Sharybin
Fix T44007: Cycles Volumetrics: block artifacts with overlapping volumes The issue was caused by uninitialized parameters of some closures, which lead to unpredictable behavior of shader_merge_closures().
2015-02-17Cycles: Remove empty closure blur code and the corresponding entries in the ↵Thomas Dinges
switch. Most compilers will probably optimize that out, but I still don't see a reason to keep it.
2014-02-06Cycles: add pass alpha threshold value to render layers.Brecht Van Lommel
Z, Index, normal, UV and vector passes are only affected by surfaces with alpha transparency equal to or higher than this threshold. With value 0.0 the first surface hit will always write to these passes, regardless of transparency. With higher values surfaces that are mostly transparent can be skipped until an opaque surface is encountered.
2013-11-18Cycles: change __device and similar qualifiers to ccl_device in kernel code.Brecht Van Lommel
This to avoids build conflicts with libc++ on FreeBSD, these __ prefixed values are reserved for compilers. I apologize to anyone who has patches or branches and has to go through the pain of merging this change, it may be easiest to do these same replacements in your code and then apply/merge the patch. Ref T37477.
2012-10-20Cycles OSL: most closure code is now shared between OSL and SVM. Also fixBrecht Van Lommel
transmission pass and filter glossy option. The BSDF closure class is now more similar to the SVM closures, and includes some flags and labels that are needed to properly categorize the BSDF's for render passes. Phong closure is gone for the moment, needs to be adapated to the new structure still.
