2012-05-02Cycles: add Ray Length output to Light Path node. This gives the distance ↵Brecht Van Lommel
travelled by the last light ray. One use case for this might be to do absorption. Patch #31232 by Agustin benavidez, see this blog post for details: http://agus3d.blogspot.com.ar/2012/05/blender-cycles-ray-length-node-output.html
2012-05-02Fix #31168: cycles mask layer should only affect objects for camera rays.Brecht Van Lommel
Fix: texture coordinate normal output was not correct, still changed under object transform.
2012-04-30Cycles: support for motion vector and UV passes.Brecht Van Lommel
Most of the changes are related to adding support for motion data throughout the code. There's some code for actual camera/object motion blur raytracing but it's unfinished (it badly slows down the raytracing kernel even when the option is turned off), so that code it disabled still. Motion vector export from Blender tries to avoid computing derived meshes when the mesh does not have a deforming modifier, and it also won't store motion vectors for every vertex if only the object or camera is moving.
2012-02-07Fix #30049: cycles noise texture producing nan values with someBrecht Van Lommel
texture coordinates, due to int overflow. Also minor tweak in shader code to avoid copying uninitialized values, should have no effect though because they were not used.
2012-01-31Fix #30011 & #30027: cycles division by zero evaluating BSDF with zero weights,Brecht Van Lommel
showed up as NaN on GPU render.
2012-01-26Cycles: disable environment importance sampling code for CUDA cards withBrecht Van Lommel
compute model < 2.x, to avoid running out of memory in the compiler.
2012-01-25Cycles: Render PassesBrecht Van Lommel
Currently supported passes: * Combined, Z, Normal, Object Index, Material Index, Emission, Environment, Diffuse/Glossy/Transmission x Direct/Indirect/Color Not supported yet: * UV, Vector, Mist Only enabled for CPU devices at the moment, will do GPU tweaks tommorrow, also for environment importance sampling. Documentation: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/Passes
2012-01-19Fix small code issue pointed out by nico_ga, was doing negation on unsigned ↵Brecht Van Lommel
type, didn't seem to break anything though.
2011-11-22Cycles: OpenCL tweaksBrecht Van Lommel
* Reduce kernel arguments size, helps compile for apple nvidia. * Fix use of unitialized variable in displace kernel. * Use build flags in opencl kernel md5 hash. * Reorganize code for kernel feature #defines a bit.
2011-11-16Fix #29278: cycles crash with displacement method both.Brecht Van Lommel
2011-10-16Cycles:Thomas Dinges
* World background was emitting light, even after removal of World shader nodes.
2011-10-13Cycles: revert commit that joined surface/volume socket into a single shader ↵Brecht Van Lommel
socket, on second thought this makes it a bit too difficult to understand what's going on.
2011-10-12Cycles: replace surface/volume sockets in output nodes with a single shader ↵Brecht Van Lommel
socket, decided it's better to render objects as either surface or volume. This may break the volume rendering patch, but shaders with volume closures still get tagged as having volume closures, so it should be fixable without too many changes.
2011-09-28Cycles: internal changes that should have no effect on user level yet, addedBrecht Van Lommel
shader flags for various purposes, and some code for light types other than points.
2011-09-12Cycles:Brecht Van Lommel
* Fix missing update when editing objects with emission materials. * Fix preview pass rendering set to 1 not showing full resolution. * Fix CUDA runtime compiling failing due to missing cache directory. * Use settings from first render layer for visibility and material override. And a bunch of incomplete and still disabled code mostly related to closure sampling.
2011-09-02Cycles: fix opencl device bug that crashed on windows. Now shows diffuseBrecht Van Lommel
meshes here on windows/nvidia.
2011-09-01Cycles: fix broken kernel compile after recent change, some tweaksBrecht Van Lommel
to UI to only show options when available, fix linux lib detection.
2011-08-28Cycles:Brecht Van Lommel
* Add alpha pass output, to use set Transparent option in Film panel. * Add Holdout closure (OSL terminology), this is like the Sky option in the internal renderer, objects with this closure show the background / zero alpha. * Add option to use Gaussian instead of Box pixel filter in the UI. * Remove camera response curves for now, they don't really belong here in the pipeline, should be moved to compositor. * Output full float values for rendering now, previously was only byte precision. * Add a patch from Thomas to get a preview passes option, but still disabled because it isn't quite working right yet. * CUDA: don't compile shader graph evaluation inline. * Convert tabs to spaces in python files.
2011-08-10Cycles: amd opencl compatibility fixes.Brecht Van Lommel
2011-04-27Cycles render engine, initial commit. This is the engine itself, blender ↵Ton Roosendaal
modifications and build instructions will follow later. Cycles uses code from some great open source projects, many thanks them: * BVH building and traversal code from NVidia's "Understanding the Efficiency of Ray Traversal on GPUs": http://code.google.com/p/understanding-the-efficiency-of-ray-traversal-on-gpus/ * Open Shading Language for a large part of the shading system: http://code.google.com/p/openshadinglanguage/ * Blender for procedural textures and a few other nodes. * Approximate Catmull Clark subdivision from NVidia Mesh tools: http://code.google.com/p/nvidia-mesh-tools/ * Sobol direction vectors from: http://web.maths.unsw.edu.au/~fkuo/sobol/ * Film response functions from: http://www.cs.columbia.edu/CAVE/software/softlib/dorf.php
