2016-02-06Cleanup: Remove support for OSL versions < 1.6.Thomas Dinges
We can get rid of more ifdefs once all platforms are on OSL 1.7 soon.
2016-01-07Cycles: Refactor how we pass bounce info to light path node.Thomas Dinges
This commit changes the way how we pass bounce information to the Light Path node. Instead of manualy copying the bounces into ShaderData, we now directly pass PathState. This reduces the arguments that we need to pass around and also makes it easier to extend the feature. This commit also exposes the Transmission Bounce Depth to the Light Path node. It works similar to the Transparent Depth Output: Replace a Transmission lightpath after X bounces with another shader, e.g a Diffuse one. This can be used to avoid black surfaces, due to low amount of max bounces. Reviewed by Sergey and Brecht, thanks for some hlp with this. I tested compilation and usage on CPU (SVM and OSL), CUDA, OpenCL Split and Mega kernel. Hopefully this covers all devices. :)
2015-12-18Cycles: Implement proper texture derivatives evaluation for OSLSergey Sharybin
This was an oldie TODO since initial work on newer OSL/OIIO support. Now we should be ready for the libraries bump.
2015-10-05Cycles: Add some TODO comments about derivativesSergey Sharybin
2015-10-05Cycles: Fix for builtin textures when linking against OSL 1.6.8Sergey Sharybin
Issue was caused by changed function signature. This is still not really full support of new OSL API since we don't store anything in the derivatives which could confuse mipmapping.
2015-09-03Cycles: Fix missing packed images with newer versions of OSLSergey Sharybin
This isn't really complete fix, complete fix would require calculating derivatives via OIIO API, but supporting this will either end up with some code duplication or will require some non really safe changes at this release cycle.
2014-12-25Cleanup: Fix Cycles Apache header.Thomas Dinges
This was already mixed a bit, but the dot belongs there.
2014-11-04Cycles: Remove compatibility code for OSL-1.4Sergey Sharybin
That code was mainly needed for the transition period, now we've got all platforms updated to new OSL. Plus there are some crucial fixes baking in the current upstream sources which we'll need to have for the next Blender release.
2014-11-04Cycles: Be ready for new OIIO and OSL librariesSergey Sharybin
Even tho it's not 100% clear when we'll switch to OSL-1.6 we'd better start preparing earlier for this, so we don't spend time on this later. Plus this code helps troubleshooting some OSL issues, which requires testing with latest versions of OSL.
2014-08-05Fix T41276: OSL bug in getmessage ("trace", "geom:name" , output)Sergey Sharybin
2014-07-25Yet another OSL compilation fix...sorry.Thomas Dinges

2013-11-28Cycles: experimental OSL ptex reading code.Brecht Van Lommel
This code can't actually be enabled for building and is incomplete, but it's here because we know we want to support this at some point and there's not much reason to have it in a separate branch if a simple #ifdef can disable it.

2013-08-01Cycles / Ray Depth:Thomas Dinges
* Added a Ray Depth output to the Light Path node, which gives the user access to the current bounce. This can be used to limit the maximum ray bounce on a per shader basis. Another use case is to restrict light influence with this, to have a lamp only contribute to the direct lighting. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/Nodes/More#Light_Path This is part of my GSoC 2013 project. 2013-01-03Cycles Hair: refactoring to support generic attributes for hair curves. ThereBrecht Van Lommel
should be no functional changes yet. UV, tangent and intercept are now stored as attributes, with the intention to add more like multiple uv's, vertex colors, generated coordinates and motion vectors later. Things got a bit messy due to having both triangle and curve data in the same mesh data structure, which also gives us two sets of attributes. This will get cleaned up when we split the mesh class.
2012-12-29Cycles Hair:Thomas Dinges
* Implemented the Hair Info Node for OSL.

2012-12-01Fix #33375: OSL geom:trianglevertices gave wrong coordinates for static BVH.Brecht Van Lommel
Also some simple OSL optimization, passing thread data pointer directly instead of via thread local storage, and creating ustrings for attribute lookup.

2012-11-06Cycles OSL: support for the trace(point pos, vector dir, ...) function, to traceBrecht Van Lommel
rays from the OSL shader. The "shade" parameter is not supported currently, but attributes can be retrieved from the object that was hit using the getmessage("trace", ..) function. As mentioned in the OSL specification, this function can't be used instead of lighting, the main purpose is to allow shaders to "probe" nearby geometry, for example to apply a projected texture that can be blocked by geometry, apply more “wear” to exposed geometry, or make other ambient occlusion-like effects. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/Nodes/OSL#Trace Example .blend and render: http://www.pasteall.org/blend/17347 http://www.pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=40066

2012-09-02Cycles / OSL:Thomas Dinges
Fixes for API changes in OSL RendererServices: * Added two new required get_matrix methods, from OSL RendererServices (otherwise the constructor fails). The two new matrix methods probably still need an implementation. * Removed deprecated "get_pointcloud_attr_query" and "pointcloud". There are two new routines for pointclouds, function headers for those are there. * Removed the (unused) PARTIO code parts from OSL. It was marked as not tested / not working, and due to the api changes here broken for sure. Code is still in svn history if needed.
