The `ascii` member was only kept for historic reason as some platforms
didn't support utf8 when it was first introduced.
Remove the `ascii` struct members since many checks used this as a
fall-back for utf8_buf not being set which isn't needed.
There are a few cases where it's convenient to access the ASCII value
of an event (or nil) so a function has been added to do that.
*Details*
- WM_event_utf8_to_ascii() has been added for the few cases an events
ASCII value needs to be accessed, this just avoids having to do
multi-byte character checks in-line.
- RNA Event.ascii remains, using utf8_buf[0] for single byte characters.
- GHOST_TEventKeyData.ascii has been removed.
- To avoid regressions non-ASCII Latin1 characters from GHOST are
converted into multi-byte UTF8, when building X11 without
XInput & X_HAVE_UTF8_STRING it seems like could still occur.

|
Also use GHOST_ prefix for public functions.

Use a shorter/simpler license convention, stops the header taking so
much space.
Follow the SPDX license specification: https://spdx.org/licenses
- C/C++/objc/objc++
- Python
- Shell Scripts
- CMake, GNUmakefile
While most of the source tree has been included
- `./extern/` was left out.
- `./intern/cycles` & `./intern/atomic` are also excluded because they
use different header conventions.
doc/license/SPDX-license-identifiers.txt has been added to list SPDX all
used identifiers.

This reverts commit 086f1911698154edd4cc19dc966e966bb0060917.
There was apparently a problem using APPEND which wasn't referenced
in the commit log.
Added comment noting the reason for the discrepancy.

This was already done for APPLE & WIN32, which would
reference these libraries twice.
Now append BROTLI_LIBRARIES to FREETYPE_LIBRARIES when they're
required for linking.
No functional changes as all references to FREETYPE_LIBRARIES also
used BROTLI_LIBRARIES.
|
|
Use a `FindBrotli.cmake` module instead of manually appending library
paths.
This is just for Linux; Windows and macOS will be reviewed separately.

The UI team requested adding woff2 support to freetype.
this required a new dependency brotli.
This changes adds brotili to the builder and bumps
freetype to version 2.11.0
As freetype now depends on other libraries, for consistency
all use of ${FREETYPE_LIBRARY} in cmake has been updated to
use ${FREETYPE_LIBRARIES} adjustments have been made in the
windows platform file, all other platforms use cmake's
FindFreeType.cmake which already sets this variable.

Replace 'set' with 'string(APPEND/PREPEND ...)'.
This avoids duplicating the variable name.

This avoids unecessary complexity.
Also makes the GPUImmediate threadsafe by using a threadlocal imm variable.

There is no need to have another font embedded in the Blender executable, we
can assume the bundled font exists. In the future we may provide a fallback
if the font specified by the user in the preferences is missing a character,
but that can use our bundled international font.

Developers should add non license comments as separate comment blocks.
No need for separator text.

This is often invalid, outdated or misleading
especially when splitting files.
It's more useful to git-blame to find out who has developed the code.

Turns out distros only a year old still use CMake 2.8x
|
|
This allows us to use newer features of CMake, and less hassles having to test & support older versions.
