2013-04-16Fix some names, and move overlay flag to overlay_flags.Antony Riakiotakis
2013-03-31Woot woot commit.Antony Riakiotakis
Stencil style texture mapping. Ready for field testing and user feedback. This commit adds stencil like brushes, like those that existed on old ptex branch. (with the exception of clip colour) To control the position of the stencil, you use Q: translation Shift - Q: scaling Ctrl - Q: rotation There's extra work that has been done to make this work: * Support for coloured overlay in vertex/texture painting * Also made A button do stroke mode selection like in sculpt mode, when mask painting is inactive. There are some TODOs to work on during bcon3: * Support tiled and stencil mode in 2D painting. Support alpha textures also. * Tidy up overlay code. There's some confusion there due to the way we use the primary brush texture sometimes for alpha, other times for colour control. WIP design docs will be in http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Psy-Fi/New_Brush_Tool_Design

2013-03-19Fix for an old issue: Node names need to be unique to ensure proper preview ↵Lukas Toenne
image mapping (node instance keys are generated from node names). This caused problems with some of the old test files (e.g. compo_map_zcombine_cubes.blend). When the uniqueness requirement was introduced in r24478 (2.50.8) for unambiguous RNA paths for animation a do_versions check was also added, but this was incorrectly only applied to main->nodetree (i.e. node groups) and not local trees in scene, material, etc.
2013-03-18Merge of the PyNodes branch (aka "custom nodes") into trunk.Lukas Toenne
PyNodes opens up the node system in Blender to scripters and adds a number of UI-level improvements. === Dynamic node type registration === Node types can now be added at runtime, using the RNA registration mechanism from python. This enables addons such as render engines to create a complete user interface with nodes. Examples of how such nodes can be defined can be found in my personal wiki docs atm [1] and as a script template in release/scripts/templates_py/custom_nodes.py [2]. === Node group improvements === Each node editor now has a tree history of edited node groups, which allows opening and editing nested node groups. The node editor also supports pinning now, so that different spaces can be used to edit different node groups simultaneously. For more ramblings and rationale see (really old) blog post on code.blender.org [3]. The interface of node groups has been overhauled. Sockets of a node group are no longer displayed in columns on either side, but instead special input/output nodes are used to mirror group sockets inside a node tree. This solves the problem of long node lines in groups and allows more adaptable node layout. Internal sockets can be exposed from a group by either connecting to the extension sockets in input/output nodes (shown as empty circle) or by adding sockets from the node property bar in the "Interface" panel. Further details such as the socket name can also be changed there. 2013-03-04Fix for image transparency backwards compatibility. Now the texture ↵Brecht Van Lommel
datablock has a Use Alpha option again. This makes the case where you enabled Premultiply on the image and disabled Use Alpha on the texture work again. That's mostly useful when you have a straight alpha image file which has no useful RGB colors in zero alpha regions (e.g. renders). Then sometimes you don't want to use the alpha for the texture stack mixing, but you still want to multiply it into the RGB channels to avoid a blocky transition into zero alpha regions. This also removes the version patch that copied image datablocks because it's not reliable and might be causing bug #34434. This does mean we are no longer backwards compatible for cases where two different texture datablocks with Use Alpha enabled and disabled where using the same image.

2013-01-07Make options for background gradient more organized.Antony Riakiotakis
This was difficult to do because we group theme colours and display them together in user preferences. To make the background options more presentable and keep them grouped and separate, I needed to group the two gradient colours somehow. I added a separate ThemeSpaceGradient RNA struct as opposed to ThemeSpaceGeneric. This struct is the same as ThemeSpaceGeneric but it lacks the window background option (which does nothing now) and includes the UiGradient struct which now has both gradient colours. I modified the clear functions to use a new high colour from the gradient. Now all options appear grouped and any other editor that may use a gradient for the window background may do so. Also corrected incorrect MAIN_VERSION_ATLEAST macro, it would not detect versions correctly
2012-12-31Alpha premul pipeline cleanupSergey Sharybin
This assumptions are now made: - Internally float buffers are always linear alpha-premul colors - Readers should worry about delivering float buffers with that assumptions. - There's an input image setting to say whether it's stored with straight/premul alpha on the disk. - Byte buffers are now assumed have straight alpha, readers should deliver straight alpha. Some implementation details: - Removed scene's color unpremultiply setting, which was very much confusing and was wrong for default settings. Now all renderers assumes to deliver premultiplied alpha. - IMB_buffer_byte_from_float will now linearize alpha when converting from buffer. - Sequencer's effects were changed to assume bytes have got straight alpha. Most of effects will work with bytes still, however for glow it was more tricky to avoid data loss, so there's a commented out glow implementation which converts byte buffer to floats first, operates on floats and returns bytes back. It's slower and not sure if it should actually be used -- who're using glow on alpha anyway? - Sequencer modifiers should also be working nice with straight bytes now. - GLSL preview will predivide float textures to make nice shading, shading with byte textures worked nice (GLSL was assuming straight alpha). - Blender Internal will set alpha=1 to the whole sky. The same happens in Cycles and there's no way to avoid this -- sky is neither straight nor premul and doesn't fit color pipeline well. - Straight alpha mode for render result was also eliminated. - Conversion to correct alpha need to be done before linearizing float buffer. - TIFF will now load and save files with proper alpha mode setting in file meta data header. - Remove Use Alpha from texture mapping and replaced with image datablock setting. Behaves much more predictable and clear from code point of view and solves possible regressions when non-premultiplied images were used as textures with ignoring alpha channel.
2012-12-29patch [#33609] Syntax highlighting for OSL in Text EditorCampbell Barton
from Patrick Boelens (senshi). with modifications to split it into its own function. also added C style multi-line comment support /* ... */ I've left out the part of this patch that sets the language in the space, since I think this might be better stored in the text block. For now it simply uses OSL syntax highlighting when the extension is '.osl'.

2012-12-17fix [#33501] Grease pencil in OpenGL renderCampbell Barton
With the view3d 'Render Only' option, grease pencil wouldn't draw, but for OpenGL render it did. Since grease pencil can be very useful in opengl renders, enable grease pencil drawing with 'Render Only' option in the viewport, and add a checkbox in the grease pencil header not to draw (unchecking each layer is annoying and applies to all spaces).
2012-12-15Finished themes for transparent Button regions in Blender.Ton Roosendaal
Notes and image: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.66/Usability - now each editor has own settings for "show panel header" and "show panel background", and colors+alpha for this. - this setting used to be global for all editors, but it can conflict with looks of specific editors. - Now you can set for editors to show panels with a 100% transparent tool/properties region. Note: read XML theme files now might get an error, Campbell will fix.
2012-12-13Feature fix:Ton Roosendaal
Upgraded version to 2.65.1, and check on this to map default region backgrounds to have an alpha 0.5. This only worked until now for 2.64 savedi startups.
2012-12-13code cleanup: quiet warningsCampbell Barton
2012-12-12Holiday coding log :)Ton Roosendaal
Nice formatted version (pictures soon): http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.66/Usability Short list of main changes: - Transparent region option (over main region), added code to blend in/out such panels. - Min size window now 640 x 480 - Fixed DPI for ui - lots of cleanup and changes everywhere. Icon image need correct size still, layer-in-use icon needs remake. - Macbook retina support, use command line --no-native-pixels to disable it - Timeline Marker label was drawing wrong - Trackpad and magic mouse: supports zoom (hold ctrl) - Fix for splash position: removed ghost function and made window size update after creation immediate - Fast undo buffer save now adds UI as well. Could be checked for regular file save even... Quit.blend and temp file saving use this now. - Dixed filename in window on reading quit.blend or temp saves, and they now add a warning in window title: "(Recovered)" - New Userpref option "Keep Session" - this always saves quit.blend, and loads on start. This allows keeping UI and data without actual saves, until you actually save. When you load startup.blend and quit, it recognises the quit.blend as a startup (no file name in header) - Added 3D view copy/paste buffers (selected objects). Shortcuts ctrl-c, ctrl-v (OSX, cmd-c, cmd-v). Coded partial file saving for it. Could be used for other purposes. Todo: use OS clipboards. - User preferences (themes, keymaps, user settings) now can be saved as a separate file. Old option is called "Save Startup File" the new one "Save User Settings". To visualise this difference, the 'save startup file' button has been removed from user preferences window. That option is available as CTRL+U and in File menu still. - OSX: fixed bug that stopped giving mouse events outside window. This also fixes "Continuous Grab" for OSX. (error since 2009)

2012-12-102.65 commit: version bumpSergey Sharybin
2012-11-09Axis Colours are now ThemeableJoshua Leung
This commit allows you to set the RGB <-> XYZ axis colours used for things like the mini axis indicator, grid axis indicators, manipulators, transform constraint indicators, F-Curves (when using XYZ to RGB colouring option), and perhaps something else I've missed. Previously, these places all used hardcoded defines (220 * i/j/k), but the readability of these colours was often quite poor, especially when used with certain themes. The settings for these colours can be found under the "User Interface" section of the themes (i.e. same set of colours is used across editors). I could have made these per editor, but since it's unlikely that these will need to be too different across editors in practice (+ being easier to version patch), they are stored under the UI section.

2012-10-27Fix #32982, Segault when trying to show a node material.Lukas Toenne
This was caused by incomplete pointer mapping of the node->internal_links list in r51630, my bad. In intermediate revisions this could lead to corrupted .blend data. This patch adds a do_versions check to remove such bad links. The correct internal_links list will get restored on node update.

2012-10-17Fix #32856, Crash in compositor due to deprecated node socket flag in old files.Lukas Toenne
Bit flag 5 has apparently been used for another purpose in old versions, then deprecated and was actually removed from DNA (this should never be done), then later it got reused for SOCK_DYNAMIC. Now a one-time check to clean up these flags is done in do_versions.
2012-10-16Cycles: non-camera viewport render border supportSergey Sharybin
This makes it possible to do a border render inside a viewport even when not looking through the camera. Render border could be defined by Ctrl-B shortcut (works for both camera render border and viewport render border). Camera render border could still be defined using Shift-B (so no muscule memory would be broken). Currently used a special flag of operator to do this, otherwise you'll need to either two operators with different poll callback or it could go into conflict with a border zoom, Border render of a viewport could be enabled/disabled in View panel using "Render Border" option.

2012-09-15Color Management, Stage 2: Switch color pipeline to use OpenColorIOSergey Sharybin
Replace old color pipeline which was supporting linear/sRGB color spaces only with OpenColorIO-based pipeline. This introduces two configurable color spaces: - Input color space for images and movie clips. This space is used to convert images/movies from color space in which file is saved to Blender's linear space (for float images, byte images are not internally converted, only input space is stored for such images and used later). This setting could be found in image/clip data block settings. - Display color space which defines space in which particular display is working. This settings could be found in scene's Color Management panel. When render result is being displayed on the screen, apart from converting image to display space, some additional conversions could happen. This conversions are: - View, which defines tone curve applying before display transformation. These are different ways to view the image on the same display device. For example it could be used to emulate film view on sRGB display. - Exposure affects on image exposure before tone map is applied. - Gamma is post-display gamma correction, could be used to match particular display gamma. - RGB curves are user-defined curves which are applying before display transformation, could be used for different purposes. All this settings by default are only applying on render result and does not affect on other images. If some particular image needs to be affected by this transformation, "View as Render" setting of image data block should be set to truth. Movie clips are always affected by all display transformations. This commit also introduces configurable color space in which sequencer is working. This setting could be found in scene's Color Management panel and it should be used if such stuff as grading needs to be done in color space different from sRGB (i.e. when Film view on sRGB display is use, using VD16 space as sequencer's internal space would make grading working in space which is close to the space using for display). Some technical notes: - Image buffer's float buffer is now always in linear space, even if it was created from 16bit byte images. - Space of byte buffer is stored in image buffer's rect_colorspace property. - Profile of image buffer was removed since it's not longer meaningful. - OpenGL and GLSL is supposed to always work in sRGB space. It is possible to support other spaces, but it's quite large project which isn't so much important. - Legacy Color Management option disabled is emulated by using None display. It could have some regressions, but there's no clear way to avoid them. - If OpenColorIO is disabled on build time, it should make blender behaving in the same way as previous release with color management enabled. More details could be found at this page (more details would be added soon): http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.64/Color_Management -- Thanks to Xavier Thomas, Lukas Toene for initial work on OpenColorIO integration and to Brecht van Lommel for some further development and code/ usecase review!

2012-09-04Sequencer: remove strip's color balance in favor of modifiersSergey Sharybin
Having two ways to control color balance now seems a bit overkill and not clear. Removed old Color Balance settings from the interface and logic, added versioning code to convert this settings to modifier. Unfortunately, since color balance was a pointer, it's not actually possible to preserve compatibility of old files saved in new blender and opened back in old blender. Hopefully there's no regressions :)
