2009-08-112.5: FixesBrecht Van Lommel
* Disable shaded mode for now, it cause too many crashes combined with preview render, will be fixed properly later. * Make 3d view toolbar region a bit wider. Ideally this would not be needed, but the sculpt/paint buttons just don't fit otherwise. * Revert change to icon/text spacing in buttons, it breaks text editing and clipping. Will properly fix this later so changing the spacing can be done centrally. * Fix for grease pencil simplify stroke python error. Now button is hidden (as in 2.4), but still available through outliner. * Fix for memory leak in UI code, when using ctrl+Q menu. * Fix submenu > icon being drawn on some buttons where it was not needed.

Bugfixes: - Preview Icon for render result crashed, there was still need for a scene pointer to be passed on. - Added quick fix for preventing shaded drawmode to call render while rendering is in progress. It crashes badly. Rendering while UI is alive is still in probation, most UI stuff will probably get blocked, with exception from inspecting buttons and using the image window.

Font object + editing back. Was quite some work due to a myriad of globals all over! Works nicely 100% local now. To enable a single textedit operator, I've added a new keymap entry KM_TEXTEDIT, which gives all keyboard events to the handler. Also had to add a new keymap-add function to force a keymap handler in beginning of region handlers. In future this can be used to prioritize handlers. Also: split off the arrow keys (frame change) to a separate region level handler. Can be set with default flag in regiontype->keymapflag ED_KEYMAP_FRAMES

Think global, act local! The old favorite G.scene gone! Man... that took almost 2 days. Also removed G.curscreen and G.edbo. Not everything could get solved; here's some notes. - modifiers now store current scene in ModifierData. This is not meant for permanent, but it can probably stick there until we cleaned the anim system and depsgraph to cope better with timing issues. - Game engine G.scene should become an argument for staring it. Didn't solve this yet. - Texture nodes should get scene cfra, but the current implementation is too tightly wrapped to do it easily.
2009-01-022.5Ton Roosendaal
From the anti-globalization department: G.obedit terminated! Wherever possible, use CTX_data_edit_object(C) to get this now. It's stored in scene now, and the screen context has it defined.

2008-11-13Merge of trunk into blender 2.5:Brecht Van Lommel
svn merge https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/trunk/blender -r12987:17416 Issues: * GHOST/X11 had conflicting changes. Some code was added in 2.5, which was later added in trunk also, but reverted partially, specifically revision 16683. I have left out this reversion in the 2.5 branch since I think it is needed there. http://projects.blender.org/plugins/scmsvn/viewcvs.php?view=rev&root=bf-blender&revision=16683 * Scons had various conflicting changes, I decided to go with trunk version for everything except priorities and some library renaming. * In creator.c, there were various fixes and fixes for fixes related to the -w -W and -p options. In 2.5 -w and -W is not coded yet, and -p is done differently. Since this is changed so much, and I don't think those fixes would be needed in 2.5, I've left them out. * Also in creator.c: there was code for a python bugfix where the screen was not initialized when running with -P. The code that initializes the screen there I had to disable, that can't work in 2.5 anymore but left it commented as a reminder. Further I had to disable some new function calls. using src/ and python/, as was done already in this branch, disabled function calls: * bpath.c: error reporting * BME_conversions.c: editmesh conversion functions. * SHD_dynamic: disabled almost completely, there is no python/. * KX_PythonInit.cpp and Ketsji/ build files: Mathutils is not there, disabled. * text.c: clipboard copy call. * object.c: OB_SUPPORT_MATERIAL. * DerivedMesh.c and subsurf_ccg, stipple_quarttone. Still to be done: * Go over files and functions that were moved to a different location but could still use changes that were done in trunk.

2008-10-04Bugfix #17746Ton Roosendaal
Curve deform did not work yet on Text and Curve objects, this because it was not providing the entire array of vertices, for a proper detection of min/max bounds of the full input.
2008-09-29resolve some compiler warnings with intel c/c++ compilerCampbell Barton
* subsurf code had a lot of unused variables, removed these where they are obviously not needed. commented if they could be useful later. * some variables declorations hide existing variables (many of these left), but fixed some that could cause confusion. * removed unused vars * obscure python memory leak with colorband. * make_sample_tables had a loop running wasnt used. * if 0'd functions in arithb.c that are not used yet. * made many functions static
2008-09-26nurbs surface resolution is now per segment rather then being distributed ↵Campbell Barton
over the whole surface. This is what 2D do alredy and makes resolution settings more like subsurf level. - This makes it impossible to have a lower resolution output then the nurbs cage, however this dosnt seem a very useful feature. - Using the do-versions from recent curve interpolation fix. 2008-09-23fix for [#11744] NurbCurve Radius incorrectCampbell Barton
removed calc_curve_subdiv_radius(), curve radius is now calculated the same way as tilt. Added radius interpolation menu matching tilt interpolation, needed to add "Ease" interpolation type to keep 2.47 curves looking the same.
2008-09-23changing the number of subdivisions for nurbs curves.Campbell Barton
this way each edge/segment gets the same number of points matching the resolution value. before, a nurbs curve would have the same number of points no matter if it was cyclic or not. This will make slight changes to objects on an animated path, but only noticable if the path has a low resolution. bug [#11744] NurbCurve Radius incorrect - now dosnt show bad results with order 4 on non-cyclic curve.
2008-09-20Fix for bug #16662: modifiers on lattices were ignored sometimesBrecht Van Lommel
when rendering opengl previews, it unnecessarily cleared lattice displists when it was really intended for shaded mode colors.

2008-05-26when cyclic is enabled the knots would always be generated with uniform ↵Campbell Barton
nurbs but after, cyclic nurbs would be incorrect if the bezier or endpoint u/v was set. also replaced some numbers with constants.
2008-05-26* The displist would be uninitialized when nurbs bezieru/v was set and the ↵Campbell Barton
order wasnt 3 or 4. add a function that checks nurbs can produce a valid line. check_valid_nurb_u/v * when check_valid_nurb_u/v fails, no curve is allocated or drawn. * knotsu/v could be NULL but some functions didn't check for this, make sure this is checked for everywhere. * The interface didnt change check the order when the bezier u/v flag was set, added functions clamp_nurb_order_u/v that takes into accound the number of points and the bezier u/v flag.
2008-05-22Fix for bug #11698: mesh deform modifier not working on extruded curves.Brecht Van Lommel
The modifier work on the tesselated result rather than the curve itself.
2008-05-18fix for [#11691] No checks in curve code for "Number of points <= Order U"Campbell Barton
added checks for a nurbes orderu being larger then pntsu. This has the same effect as the curve having only 1 point. (its display list is not generated but it is still added but a dummy displist with zero points is made) memcpy was also being used where the memory overlaped (probably worked in most cases but this is incorrect and valgrind complained), use memmove instead.

========= - Texture orco coordinates for particles are now actual orcos instead of just the vertex positions, which means they are the same under deformations and the same as the ones on the mesh. - Particle distribution now uses these orcos to get consistent distributions independent of deformation. - This required changing the way orco's are computed for meshes. Now instead of generating an orco derivedmesh separately, the derivedmesh is generated alongside the regular one and stored in an orco custom data layer.
2007-12-04bugfix, curve radius would display incorrectly when there were single ↵Campbell Barton

2007-11-29Render BakingBrecht Van Lommel
============= A new "Selected to Active" option in the Bake panel, to (typically) bake a high poly object onto a low poly object. Code based on patch #7339 by Frank Richter (Crystal Space developer), thanks!. Normal Mapping ============== Camera, World, Object and Tangent space is now supported for baking, and for material textures. The "NMap TS" setting is replaced with a dropdown of the four choices in the image texture buttons. http://www.blender.org/development/current-projects/changes-since-244/render-baking/

========= Merge of the famous particle patch by Janne Karhu, a full rewrite of the Blender particle system. This includes: - Emitter, Hair and Reactor particle types. - Newtonian, Keyed and Boids physics. - Various particle visualisation and rendering types. - Vertex group and texture control for various properties. - Interpolated child particles from parents. - Hair editing with combing, growing, cutting, .. . - Explode modifier. - Harmonic, Magnetic fields, and multiple falloff types. .. and lots of other things, some more info is here: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Particles_Rewrite http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Particles_Rewrite_Doc The new particle system cannot be backwards compatible. Old particle systems are being converted to the new system, but will require tweaking to get them looking the same as before. Point Cache =========== The new system to replace manual baking, based on automatic caching on disk. This is currently used by softbodies and the particle system. See the Cache API section on: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/PhysicsSprint Documentation ============= These new features still need good docs for the release logs, help for this is appreciated.

2007-01-22Fix for bug #5778:Brecht Van Lommel
Crash entering faceselect mode in shaded mode. The cause here is the new system that only preserves data through the modifier stack as needed. The DerivedMesh and shaded colors could get freed while still being used elsewhere.
2006-12-22Made multiple UV layers work with fastshade.Brecht Van Lommel
2006-12-21Added names to UV and vertex color layers, and display them as a list.Brecht Van Lommel
Added support for multiple UVs in the render engine. This also involved changing the way faces are stored, to allow data to be added optionally per 256 faces, same as the existing system for vertices. A UV layer can be specified in the Map Input panel and the Geometry node by name. Leaving this field blank will default to the active UV layer. Also added sharing of face selection and hiding between UV layers, and at the same time improved syncing with editmode selection and hiding. Still to do: - Multi UV support for fastshade. - Multires and NMesh preservation of multiple UV sets.
2006-12-08Numerous fixes in Render code:Ton Roosendaal
- Bug: material emit was ignored (showed in preview render backdrop) - Bug: world exposure was ignored - Bug: lamp halo was ignoring 'render layer light override'. Further reshuffled the way shadows are being pre-calculated, this to enable more advanced (and faster) usage of Material lightgroups. Now shadows are being cached in lamps, using a per-sample counter to check if a recalc is needed. Will also work (later) for Raytracing node shaders. - New: Material LightGroup option "Always", which always shades the lights in the group, independent of visibility layer. (so it allows to move such lights to hidden layer, not influencing anything).
2006-12-05Two fixes:Ton Roosendaal
- Shaded view was black, needed to tell it to use 'combined' pass :) - Crash when deleting in compositor all nodes with an output.
2006-12-05Modifier Stack: Limit calculation to required data.Ben Batt
This commit upgrades the modifier stack to only calculate the data which is needed, either by modifiers further down the stack or by other functions at the end of the stack (e.g. drawing functions). This speeds up modifier stack recalculation, especially where vertex groups and UV coordinates are concerned. For example, a mesh with an Armature modifier followed by a Subsurf modifier would previously have required the Subsurf modifier to interpolate all the vertex groups in the mesh, slowing down modifier calculations considerably. With this update, vertex group data is not propagated beyond the Armature modifier, so calculations are faster. Note that this depends on the order of modifiers in the stack. If the Armature and Subsurf modifiers were swapped in the above example, the Subsurf modifier would have to interpolate vertex groups, as they are needed by the Armature modifier.
2006-11-21Step one in migrating to use glArray calls in BlenderTon Roosendaal
- Curve/Nurbs/Font/MBall now all draw arrays. - had to flip abgr to rgba in shaded drawing - Mesh drawing can't be easily done; the indices for faces are not in in one chunk. Also need a way to gether trias/quads, per material. Speedup results are mixed. Something between 2-4 times. Especially for text it seems to help.
2006-11-20Added custom vertex/edge/face data for meshes:Brecht Van Lommel
All data layers, including MVert/MEdge/MFace, are now managed as custom data layers. The pointers like Mesh.mvert, Mesh.dvert or Mesh.mcol are still used of course, but allocating, copying or freeing these arrays should be done through the CustomData API. Work in progress documentation on this is here: http://mediawiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/BlenderArchitecture/CustomData Replaced TFace by MTFace: This is the same struct, except that it does not contain color, that now always stays separated in MCol. This was not a good design decision to begin with, and it is needed for adding multiple color layers later. Note that this does mean older Blender versions will not be able to read UV coordinates from the next release, due to an SDNA limitation. Removed DispListMesh: This now fully replaced by DerivedMesh. To provide access to arrays of vertices, edges and faces, like DispListMesh does. The semantics of the DerivedMesh.getVertArray() and similar functions were changed to return a pointer to an array if one exists, or otherwise allocate a temporary one. On releasing the DerivedMesh, this temporary array will be removed automatically. Removed ssDM and meshDM DerivedMesh backends: The ssDM backend was for DispListMesh, so that became obsolete automatically. The meshDM backend was replaced by the custom data backend, that now figures out which layers need to be modified, and only duplicates those. This changes code in many places, and overall removes 2514 lines of code. So, there's a good chance this might break some stuff, although I've been testing it for a few days now. The good news is, adding multiple color and uv layers should now become easy.
