2022-01-07Cleanup: remove redundant const qualifiers for POD typesCampbell Barton
MSVC used to warn about const mismatch for arguments passed by value. Remove these as newer versions of MSVC no longer show this warning.
2021-12-20Docs: use doxygen formatting for BLICampbell Barton
Differentiate doc-strings from title/section text.
2021-07-15Cleanup: replace BLI_assert(!"text") with BLI_assert_msg(0, "text")Campbell Barton
This shows the text as part of the assertion message.
2021-07-12Blenlib: Add BLI_assert_msg() for printing an extra string if the assert failsJulian Eisel
It always bothered me that we'd do the `BLI_assert(... || !"message")` trick to print a message alongside the assert, while it should be trivial to have a way to pass an extra string as additional argument. This adds `BLI_assert_msg()` with a second argument for a message. E.g.: ``` BLI_assert_msg( params->rename_id == NULL, "File rename handling should immediately clear rename_id when done, because otherwise it will keep taking precedence over renamefile."); ``` On failure this will print like this: ``` 0 Blender 0x00000001140647a3 BLI_system_backtrace + 291 [...] 13 Blender 0x00000001092647a6 main + 3814 14 libdyld.dylib 0x00007fff203d8f5d start + 1 BLI_assert failed: source/blender/editors/space_file/file_ops.c:2352, file_directory_new_exec(), at 'params->rename_id == ((void*)0)' File rename handling should immediately clear rename_id when done, because otherwise it will keep taking precedence over renamefile. ``` Reviewed by: Sybren Stüvel, Jacques Lucke, Sergey Sharybin, Campbell Barton Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D11827
2021-03-23BLI: add macro to indicate unreachable codeJacques Lucke
This adds a `BLI_assert_unreachable()` macro, that should be used instead of `BLI_assert(false)` in many places. * `BLI_assert_unreachable` provides more information than `BLI_assert(false)` to people reading the code. * `BLI_assert_unreachable` will print an error to `stderr` in a release build. This makes it more likely that we will get bug reports when the assumptions of a developer were wrong. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D10780
2020-08-07Code Style: use "#pragma once" in source directoryJacques Lucke
This replaces header include guards with `#pragma once`. A couple of include guards are not removed yet (e.g. `__RNA_TYPES_H__`), because they are used in other places. This patch has been generated by P1561 followed by `make format`. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D8466
2020-08-06Cleanup: avoid debug-only includes for BLI_assert.hCampbell Barton
Having includes in debug builds makes it possible to accidentally break release builds. Avoid this by moving calls to other modules out of BLI_assert.h into BLI_assert.c
2020-05-26BLI_assert: prevent abort from suppressing return-type warningCampbell Barton
Recent commit deaff945d0b96 broke release builds but not debug builds, with this change the warning happens in both cases.
2019-06-09Fix: Build error with clang on windows.Ray Molenkamp
clang does not seem support the static_assert with message overload.
2019-05-31Cleanup: use static_assert on MSVC versions that support it.Ray Molenkamp
This greatly improves the error message
2019-05-31Cleanup: simplify static assert definitions, assuming C11 and C++11Brecht Van Lommel
2019-05-31Fix compilation previous commitJeroen Bakker
2019-05-31Fix T65334: use _Static_assert on clang as well, to avoid macOS build errorBrecht Van Lommel
Still needs a proper solution for older compilers with custom static assert. macro that can conflict when there is an assert on the same line in multiple files.
2019-04-18Cleanup: comment blocksCampbell Barton
2019-04-17ClangFormat: apply to source, most of internCampbell Barton
Apply clang format as proposed in T53211. For details on usage and instructions for migrating branches without conflicts, see: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Tools/ClangFormat
2019-04-02Fix Linux build error after recent changes.Brecht Van Lommel
2019-04-02Fix broken BLI_STATIC_ASSERT on Visual Studio.Brecht Van Lommel
The old trick seems to no longer work in newer VS version.
2019-02-18doxygen: add newline after \fileCampbell Barton
While \file doesn't need an argument, it can't have another doxy command after it.
2019-02-06Cleanup: remove redundant doxygen \file argumentCampbell Barton
Move \ingroup onto same line to be more compact and make it clear the file is in the group.
2019-02-01Cleanup: remove redundant, invalid info from headersCampbell Barton
BF-admins agree to remove header information that isn't useful, to reduce noise. - BEGIN/END license blocks Developers should add non license comments as separate comment blocks. No need for separator text. - Contributors This is often invalid, outdated or misleading especially when splitting files. It's more useful to git-blame to find out who has developed the code. See P901 for script to perform these edits.
2018-03-20Fix BLI_assert for MSVCCampbell Barton
Also use `_BLI_ASSERT` prefix for internal defines.
2018-03-15BLI_assert: extract from BLI_utildefinesCampbell Barton
BLI_utildefines is quite large, defining many unrelated things. Add BLI_assert to include in inline headers, so math defines don't pull in too much.
