Changes to recent addition: c85c52f2ce478ab0e30c5e93fd5a5cb812db232f.
Having both BLI_paths_equal and BLI_path_cmp made it ambiguous
which should be used, as `BLI_paths_equal` wasn't the equivalent to
`BLI_path_cmp(..) == 0` as it is for string equals macro `STREQ(..)`.
It's also a more specialized function which is not used for path
comparison throughout Blender's internal path handling logic.
Instead rename this `BLI_path_cmp_normalized` and return the result of
`BLI_path_cmp` to make it clear paths are modified before comparison.
Also add comments about the conventions for Blender's path comparison
as well as a possible equivalent to Python's `os.path.samefile`
for checking if two paths point to the same location on the file-system.

Add `USD Preview Surface From Nodes` export option, to convert a
Principled BSDF material node network to an approximate USD Preview
Surface shader representation. If this option is disabled, the original
material export behavior is maintained, where viewport setting are saved
to the Preview Surface shader.
Also added the following options for texture export.
- `Export Textures`: If converting Preview Surface, export textures
referenced by shader nodes to a 'textures' directory which is a
sibling of the USD file.
- `Overwrite Textures`: Allow overwriting existing texture files when
exporting textures (this option is off by default).
- `Relative Texture Paths`: Make texture asset paths relative to the
USD.
The entry point for the new functionality is
`create_usd_preview_surface_material()`, called from
`USDAbstractWriter::ensure_usd_material()`. The material conversion
currently handles a small subset of Blender shading nodes,
`BSDF_DIFFUSE`, `BSDF_PRINCIPLED`, `TEX_IMAGE` and `UVMAP`.
Texture export is handled by copying texture files from their original
location to a `textures` folder in the same directory as the USD.
In-memory and packed textures are saved directly to the textures folder.
This patch is based, in part, on code in Tangent Animation's USD
exporter branch.

Includes unwanted changes
This reverts commit 46e049d0ce2bce2f53ddc41a0dbbea2969d00a5d.

This patch implements the vector types (i.e:`float2`) by making heavy
usage of templating. All vector functions are now outside of the vector
classes (inside the `blender::math` namespace) and are not vector size
dependent for the most part.
In the ongoing effort to make shaders less GL centric, we are aiming
to share more code between GLSL and C++ to avoid code duplication.
####Motivations:
- We are aiming to share UBO and SSBO structures between GLSL and C++.
This means we will use many of the existing vector types and others
we currently don't have (uintX, intX). All these variations were
asking for many more code duplication.
- Deduplicate existing code which is duplicated for each vector size.
- We also want to share small functions. Which means that vector
functions should be static and not in the class namespace.
- Reduce friction to use these types in new projects due to their
incompleteness.
- The current state of the `BLI_(float|double|mpq)(2|3|4).hh` is a
bit of a let down. Most clases are incomplete, out of sync with each
others with different codestyles, and some functions that should be
static are not (i.e: `float3::reflect()`).
####Upsides:
- Still support `.x, .y, .z, .w` for readability.
- Compact, readable and easilly extendable.
- All of the vector functions are available for all the vectors types
and can be restricted to certain types. Also template specialization
let us define exception for special class (like mpq).
- With optimization ON, the compiler unroll the loops and performance
is the same.
####Downsides:
- Might impact debugability. Though I would arge that the bugs are
rarelly caused by the vector class itself (since the operations are
quite trivial) but by the type conversions.
- Might impact compile time. I did not saw a significant impact since
the usage is not really widespread.
- Functions needs to be rewritten to support arbitrary vector length.
For instance, one can't call `len_squared_v3v3` in
`math::length_squared()` and call it a day.
- Type cast does not work with the template version of the `math::`
vector functions. Meaning you need to manually cast `float *` and
`(float *)[3]` to `float3` for the function calls.
i.e: `math::distance_squared(float3(nearest.co), positions[i]);`
- Some parts might loose in readability:
`float3::dot(v1.normalized(), v2.normalized())`
becoming
`math::dot(math::normalize(v1), math::normalize(v2))`
But I propose, when appropriate, to use
`using namespace blender::math;` on function local or file scope to
increase readability.
`dot(normalize(v1), normalize(v2))`
####Consideration:
- Include back `.length()` method. It is quite handy and is more C++
oriented.
- I considered the GLM library as a candidate for replacement. It felt
like too much for what we need and would be difficult to extend / modify
to our needs.
- I used Macros to reduce code in operators declaration and potential
copy paste bugs. This could reduce debugability and could be reverted.
- This touches `delaunay_2d.cc` and the intersection code. I would like
to know @howardt opinion on the matter.
- The `noexcept` on the copy constructor of `mpq(2|3)` is being removed.
But according to @JacquesLucke it is not a real problem for now.
I would like to give a huge thanks to @JacquesLucke who helped during this
and pushed me to reduce the duplication further.

Assert that only the file name component is passed in
since special handling for UDIM should only be applied to the file name.
Also remove an unnecessary NULL check on the filename argument.
|
|
MSVC used to warn about const mismatch for arguments passed by value.
Remove these as newer versions of MSVC no longer show this warning.
|
|
This implements the design detailed in T92696 to support virtual
filenames for UDIM textures. Currently, the following 2 substitution
tokens are supported:
| Token | Meaning |
| ----- | ---- |
| <UDIM> | 1001 + u-tile + v-tile * 10 |
| <UVTILE> | Equivalent to u<u-tile + 1>_v<v-tile + 1> |
Example for u-tile of 3 and v-tile of 1:
filename.<UDIM>_ver0023.png --> filename.1014_ver0023.png
filename.<UVTILE>_ver0023.png --> filename.u4_v2_ver0023.png
For image loading, the existing workflow is unchanged. A user can select
one or more image files, belonging to one or more UDIM tile sets, and
have Blender load them all as it does today. Now the <UVTILE> format is
"guessed" just as the <UDIM> format was guessed before.
If guessing fails, the user can simply go into the Image Editor and type
the proper substitution in the filename. Once typing is complete,
Blender will reload the files and correctly fill the tiles. This
workflow is new as attempting to fix the guessing in current versions
did not really work, and the user was often stuck with a confusing
situation.
For image saving, the existing workflow is changed slightly. Currently,
when saving, a user has to be sure to type the filename of the first
tile (e.g. filename.1001.png) to save the entire UDIM set. The number
could differ if they start at a different tile etc. This is confusing.
Now, the user should type a filename containing the appropriate
substitution token. By default Blender will fill in a default name using
the <UDIM> token but the user is free to save out images using <UVTILE>
if they wish.

Saving with only a filename (from Python) wasn't being prevented,
while it would successfully write the file to the working-directory,
path remapping and setting relative paths wouldn't work afterwards
as `Main.filepath` would have no directory component.
Disallow this since it's a corner case which only ever occurs
when path names without any directories are used from Python,
the overhead of expanding the working-directory for all data saving
operations isn't worthwhile.
The following changes have been made:
- bpy.ops.wm.save_mainfile() without a filepath argument
fails & reports and error when the file hasn't been saved.
Previously it would write to "untitled.blend" and set the
`G.main->filepath` to this as well.
- bpy.ops.wm.save_mainfile(filepath="untitled.blend")
fails & reports and error as the filename has no directory component.
- `BLI_path_is_abs_from_cwd` was added to check if the path would
attempt to expand to the CWD.
|
|
- Added space below non doc-string comments to make it clear
these aren't comments for the symbols directly below them.
- Use doxy sections for some headers.
- Minor improvements to doc-strings.

Add function `BLI_path_contains(container, containee)` that returns true
if and only `container` contains `containee`.
Paths are normalised and converted to native path separators before
comparing. Relative paths are *not* made absolute, to simplify the
function call; if this is necessary the caller has to do this conversion
first.

This replaces header include guards with `#pragma once`.
A couple of include guards are not removed yet (e.g. `__RNA_TYPES_H__`),
because they are used in other places.
This patch has been generated by P1561 followed by `make format`.

Surrounding includes with an 'extern "C"' block is not necessary anymore.
Also that made it harder to add any C++ code to some headers, or include headers
that have "optional" C++ code like `MEM_guardedalloc.h`.
I tested compilation on linux and windows (and got help from @LazyDodo).
If this still breaks compilation due to some linker error, the header containing
the symbol in question is probably missing an 'extern "C"' block.

BLI_cleanup_dir -> BLI_path_normalize_dir
BLI_cleanup_unc -> BLI_path_normalize_unc
BLI_cleanup_unc16 -> BLI_path_normalize_unc16
Clarify naming for extracting, creating numbered paths:

BLI_stringdec -> BLI_path_sequence_decode

The most common use of the text editor seems to be for scripting. Having
line numbers and syntax highlighting enabled by default seems sensible.
Syntax highlighting is now enabled by default, but is automatically
disabled when the datablock has a non-highlighted extension.
Highlighting is enabled for filenames like:
- Text
- Text.001
- somefile.py
and is automatically disabled when the datablock has an extension for
which Blender has no syntax highlighter registered.

The `BLI_path_frame_strip` function was completely broken, unless the
number of digits in the sequence number was the same as the length of
the extension. In other words, it would work fine for `file.0001.abc` (4
digit `0001` and 4 char `.abc`), but other combinations would truncate
to the shortest (`file.001.abc` would become `file.###.ab` and
`file.00001.a` would become `file.##.a`). The dependency between the
sequence number and the file extension is now removed.
The behaviour has changed a little bit in the case where there are no
numbers in the filename. Previously, `path="filename.abc"` would result
in `path="filename.abc"` and `ext=""`, but now it results in
`path="filename"` and `ext=".abc"`. This way `ext` always contains the
extension, and the behaviour is consistent regardless of whether there
were any numbers found.
Furthermore, I've removed the `bool set_frame_char` parameter, because
it was unclear, probably also buggy, and most importantly, never used.
I've also added a unit test for the `BLI_path_frame_strip` function.

The goal here is to make app templates usable for default templates
that we can ship with Blender. These only have a custom startup.blend
currently and so are quite limited compared to app templates that fully
customize Blender.
But still it seems like the same kind of concept where we should be
sharing the code and UI. It is useful to be able to save a startup.blend
per template, and I can imagine some scripting being useful in the future
as well.
Changes made:
* File > New and Ctrl+N now list the templates, replacing a separate
Application Templates menu that was not as easy to discover.
* File menu now shows name of active template above Save Startup File
and Load Factory Settings to indicate these are saved/loaded per
template.
* The "Default" template was renamed to "General".
* Workspaces can now be added from any of the template startup.blend
files when clicking the (+) button in the topbar.
* User preferences are now fully shared between app templates, unless
the template includes a custom userpref.blend. I think this will be
useful in general, not all app templates need their own keymaps for
example.
* Previously Save User Preferences would save the current app template
and then Blender would start using that template by default. I've
disabled this, to me it seems it was unintentional, or at least not
clear at all that saving user preferences also makes the current

There were two issues here, introduced by rB66aa4af836:
* Forgot to change length of some filter_glob var deep in filebrowser code.
* Truncating filter_glob in general can be dangerous, generating
unexpected patterns.
Last point was the root of the issue here, truncating to 63 chars string
left last group as 'match everything' `*` pattern.
To fix that to some extent, added a new BLI_path_extension_glob_validate
helper to BLI_path_util, which ensures we do not have last
wildcards-only group in our pattern, when there are more than one group.

Things like `BLI_uniquename` had nothing, but really nothing to do in

- BLI_current_working_dir's return value must be checked, since it may fail.
- BLI_current_working_dir now behaves like getcwd, where a too-small target will return failure.
- avoid buffer overrun with BLI_path_cwd, by taking a maxlen arg.

BLI_filename_make_safe had several issues:
* Would replace all dots ('.'), not a great idea since it would break extensions.
* Was not checking for 'control' ASCII chars (though unlikely, better to be safe here).
* Win32 only: was not checking for forbidden names (con, aux, ltp0, com0, etc.).
New BLI_path_make_safe() simply checks each path's item with BLI_filename_make_safe().
