2022-05-17Cleanup: Use `switch` and `BLI_assert_unreachable()` more.Bastien Montagne
Replace some `if/else if` chains by proper `switch` statement. Replace some `BLI_assert(0)` calls by `BLI_assert_unreachable()` ones.
2022-03-30Cleanup: use "num" as a suffix in: source/blender/blenlibCampbell Barton
Also replace "num" with: - "number" when it's not used to denote the number of items. - "digits" when digits in a string are being manipulated.
2022-02-11File headers: SPDX License migrationCampbell Barton
Use a shorter/simpler license convention, stops the header taking so much space. Follow the SPDX license specification: https://spdx.org/licenses - C/C++/objc/objc++ - Python - Shell Scripts - CMake, GNUmakefile While most of the source tree has been included - `./extern/` was left out. - `./intern/cycles` & `./intern/atomic` are also excluded because they use different header conventions. doc/license/SPDX-license-identifiers.txt has been added to list SPDX all used identifiers. See P2788 for the script that automated these edits. Reviewed By: brecht, mont29, sergey Ref D14069
2022-01-07Remove dead numaapi code in blenlibSergey Sharybin
It it rather an old experiment now which didn't pay off. The initial idea was to have main and jobs threads on fast nodes of TR2 processors. This didn't really work reliably because in Blender we need to be able to create nested threads without their affinity set. This is not how some of OS are creating nested threads, and we don't always have access to child threads to reset their affinity. So overall complexity of the initial idea implementation became too much compared to the performance gain.
2021-12-09Cleanup: move public doc-strings into headers for 'blenlib'Campbell Barton
- Added space below non doc-string comments to make it clear these aren't comments for the symbols directly below them. - Use doxy sections for some headers. - Minor improvements to doc-strings. Ref T92709

2021-02-05Cleanup: correct spelling in commentsCampbell Barton
2021-01-20Cleanup: remove extra in trailing asteriskCampbell Barton
Comment blocks not conforming to convention.
2020-12-04Cleanup: Clang-Tidy, modernize-use-usingSybren A. Stüvel
Replace `typedef` with `using` in C++ code. In the case of `typedef struct SomeName { ... } SomeName;` I removed the `typedef` altogether, as this is unnecessary in C++. Such cases have been rewritten to `struct SomeName { ... };` No functional changes.
2020-12-04Cleanup: Clang-Tidy, modernize-deprecated-headersSybren A. Stüvel
No functional changes.
2020-09-18Cleanup: remove unused global locks from BLI_threadsCampbell Barton
2020-09-07Cleanup: spellingCampbell Barton
Also correct wrapped lines of example code in threads.cc.
2020-08-07Cleanup: Blenlib, Clang-Tidy else-after-return fixes (incomplete)Sybren A. Stüvel
This addresses warnings from Clang-Tidy's `readability-else-after-return` rule in the `source/blender/blenlib` module. Not all warnings are addressed in this commit. No functional changes.

2020-07-03BLI: Use TBB spin_mutex as SpinLock implementationSergey Sharybin
When building without TBB use native to the platform spin lock implementation. For Windows it is an atomic-based busy-wait, for Linux it is pthreads' spin lock. For macOS it is a mutex lock. The reason behind this is to stop using atomics library which has been declared deprecated in SDK version 10.12. So this changes fixes a lot of noisy warnings on the newer SDK. 2020-07-03BLI: Switch threads implementation file to C++Sergey Sharybin
Allows to use C++ primitives in the primitive implementation.
