2019-12-12Add support for tiled images and the UDIM naming schemeLukas Stockner
This patch contains the work that I did during my week at the Code Quest - adding support for tiled images to Blender. With this patch, images now contain a list of tiles. By default, this just contains one tile, but if the source type is set to Tiled, the user can add additional tiles. When acquiring an ImBuf, the tile to be loaded is specified in the ImageUser. Therefore, code that is not yet aware of tiles will just access the default tile as usual. The filenames of the additional tiles are derived from the original filename according to the UDIM naming scheme - the filename contains an index that is calculated as (1001 + 10*<y coordinate of the tile> + <x coordinate of the tile>), where the x coordinate never goes above 9. Internally, the various tiles are stored in a cache just like sequences. When acquired for the first time, the code will try to load the corresponding file from disk. Alternatively, a new operator can be used to initialize the tile similar to the New Image operator. The following features are supported so far: - Automatic detection and loading of all tiles when opening the first tile (1001) - Saving all tiles - Adding and removing tiles - Filling tiles with generated images - Drawing all tiles in the Image Editor - Viewing a tiled grid even if no image is selected - Rendering tiled images in Eevee - Rendering tiled images in Cycles (in SVM mode) - Automatically skipping loading of unused tiles in Cycles - 2D texture painting (also across tiles) - 3D texture painting (also across tiles, only limitation: individual faces can not cross tile borders) - Assigning custom labels to individual tiles (drawn in the Image Editor instead of the ID) - Different resolutions between tiles There still are some missing features that will be added later (see T72390): - Workbench engine support - Packing/Unpacking support - Baking support - Cycles OSL support - many other Blender features that rely on images Thanks to Brecht for the review and to all who tested the intermediate versions! 2019-11-21Bevel: Custom Profile and CurveProfile WidgetHans Goudey
Custom profiles in bevel allows the profile curve to be controlled by manually placed control points. Orientation is regularized along groups of edges, and the 'pipe case' is updated. This commit includes many updates to comments and changed variable names as well. A 'cutoff' vertex mesh method is added to bevel in addition to the existing grid fill option for replacing vertices. The UI of the bevel modifier and tool are updated and unified. Also, a 'CurveProfile' widget is added to BKE for defining the profile in the interface, which may be useful in other situations. Many thanks to Howard, my mentor for this GSoC project. Reviewers: howardt, campbellbarton Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D5516

2019-09-19Fix T66154: viewlayer hide/exclude settings getting lost for linked collectionsBrecht Van Lommel
The problem was that the object and collection pointers in Base and LayerCollection would get lost of file read. Normally such ID pointers would be resolved by pointing to an ID_ID placeholder which has the datablock name, and then replacing it will the real datablock. However ID_ID is only written for directly linked datablocks. This adds the concept of an indirectly linked datablock with a weak reference to it. For this we write an ID_ID_WEAK_REF code, which is a reference that will only be resolved if the datablock was read for another reason. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D4416

2019-09-11Cycles: Display RenderPass in ViewportJeroen Bakker
This change allows the user to select a renderpass in the 3d viewport. Added support for external renderers to extend the `View3DShading` struct. This way Blender doesn't need to know the features an external render engine wants to support. Note that the View3DShading is also available in the scene->display.shading; although this is supported, it does not make sense for render engines to put something here as it is really scene/workbench related. Currently cycles assumes that it always needs to calculate the combined pass; it ignores the `pass_flag` in KernelFilm. We could optimize this but that was not in scope of this change Reviewed By: brecht Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D5689

2019-06-15Cleanup: Rename: Static Override -> Library Override.Bastien Montagne
Better to make internal code naming match official/UI naming to some extent, this will reduce confusion in the future. This is 'breaking' scripts and files that would use that feature, but since it is not yet officially supported nor exposed in 2.80, as far as that release is concerned, it is effectively a 'no functional changes' commit.

2019-04-24Nodes: remove group node forward compatibility with version 2.66Brecht Van Lommel

2019-04-02Cleanup: remove DNA_PRIVATE_WORKSPACE hacks.Brecht Van Lommel
This is just not practical to do for the code as a whole, and having it as an exception for one specific data structure is not that helpful. This has only been in the way for me when refactoring code.

2019-03-08Cleanup: use plural names for Main listsCampbell Barton
Convention was not to but after discussion on 918941483f7e we agree its best to change the convention. Names now mostly follow RNA. Some exceptions: - Use 'nodetrees' instead of 'nodegroups' since the struct is called NodeTree. - Use 'gpencils' instead of 'grease_pencil' since 'gpencil' is a common abbreviation in the C code. Other exceptions: - Leave 'wm' as it's a list of one. - Leave 'ipo' as is for versioning.
2019-03-07Refactor CDData masks, to have one mask per mesh elem type.Bastien Montagne
We already have different storages for cddata of verts, edges etc., 'simply' do the same for the mask flags we use all around Blender code to request some data, or limit some operation to some layers, etc. Reason we need this is that some cddata types (like Normals) are actually shared between verts/polys/loops, and we don’t want to generate clnors everytime we request vnors! As a side note, this also does final fix to T59338, which was the trigger for this patch (need to request computed loop normals for another mesh than evaluated one). 2019-03-02Cleanup: SDNA/DNA namingCampbell Barton
Use 'size' instead of 'len' to represent the size of data in bytes, 'len' is used for the result of 'strlen' or the length of an array in some parts of 'makesdna.c' & 'dna_genfile.c'. Also clarify comments and some variable names, no functional changes.

BF-admins agree to remove header information that isn't useful, to reduce noise. - BEGIN/END license blocks Developers should add non license comments as separate comment blocks. 2019-01-25Fix T60783: (Certain) shapekeys stopped working in 2.8.Bastien Montagne
This commit adds another optional check (when `--debug-io` is set) on write .blend process, to check and ensure all shape keys have their 'from' pointer properly set to their respective user ID. This is intended to be used as debuging tool mostly (to try to detect when/why some of those pointers can become NULL). For now, it also systematically perform same checks/fixes when loading a .blend file, to fix all broken ones laying around. Later we might move that usage to a do_version instead, but for now think it's safer to always perfom it (and it's rather cheap process anyway).
2019-01-25Cleanup: BLO: move validate code into own header.Bastien Montagne
