2016-03-03Make texture node threadedSergey Sharybin
Quite trivial idea -- just pass tread ID to the texture sampling function. Implemented as a TLS to avoid passing huge amount of extra contexts around. Should be working on all platforms, but compilation test is required. Reviewers: juicyfruit, campbellbarton Reviewed By: campbellbarton Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D1831
2016-02-21Fix compositor using edge repeat policy when it shouldn'tSergey Sharybin
Was easy to notice when alpha-overing smaller image with blur on the bigger frame.

2016-01-26Compositor: Speedup movie (un)distortion operationSergey Sharybin
Avoid per-pixel camera intrincs object construction and synchronization. Here on a bit synthetic file it gives about 40% speedup with a single node.

Integer is not safe for incremental by multiple threads and if one is unlucky enough that could cause progress re[reports to go totally nuts.

2015-03-13Initial compilation support with C++11 featureset enabledSergey Sharybin
This commit makes some preliminary fixes and tweaks aimed to make blender compilable with C++11 feature set. This includes: - Build system attribute to enable C++11 featureset. It's for sure default OFF, but easy to enable to have a play around with it and make sure all the stuff is compilable before we go C++11 for real. - Changes in Compositor to use non-named cl_int structure fields. This is because __STRICT_ANSI__ is defined by default by GCC and OpenCL does not use named fields in this case. - Changes to TYPE_CHECK() related on lack of typeof() in C++11 This uses decltype() instead with some trickery to make sure returned type is not a reference. - Changes for auto_ptr in Freestyle This actually conditionally switches between auto_ptr and unique_ptr since auto_ptr is deprecated in C++11. Seems to be not strictly needed but still nice to be ready for such an update anyway/ This all based on changes form depsgraph_refactor branch apart from the weird changes which were made in order to support MinGW compilation. Those parts of change would need to be carefully reviewed again after official move to gcc49 in MinGW. Tested on Linux with GCC-4.7 and Clang-3.5, other platforms are not tested and likely needs some more tweaks. 2015-03-09Fix T43908: Mask render bug, one pixel black lineSergey Sharybin
This was a regression caused by attempts to fix T42844 and there were some red-herrings which lead me to the wrong way to fix it. It's some deeper issue than just interpolation offset, it's mainly how the node resolution is being mapped to each other. It could be actually a part of canvas awareness project..

2015-01-20Fix T42844: Compositor scale offsetSergey Sharybin
Different interpolation methods in compositor could lead to 0.5 pixel offset in final renders. This is because of some inconsistency in integer coordinates which might mean pixel corner or pixel center. Should be all fine now.
2015-01-19D627: Memory usage optimization for the compositor.Jeroen Bakker
The compostor used a fixed size of 4 floats to hold pixel data. this patch will select size of a pixel based on its type. It uses 1 float for Value, 3 float for vector and 4 floats for color data types. When benchmarking on shots (opening shot of caminandes) we get a reduction of memory of 30% and a tiny speedup as less data transformations needs to take place (but these are negligable. More information of the patch can be found on https://developer.blender.org/D627 and http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Proposals/Compositor2014_p1.1_TD Developers: jbakker & mdewanchand Thanks for Sergey for his indept review.

2014-08-18De-duplicate EWA filter code between renderer and compositorSergey Sharybin
The title says it all, move the EWA filter to BLI (currently it's math_interp.c) and use the function from both BI renderer and the compositor. This makes more central place of the algorithm, allowing to have fixes and optimizaitons synchronized across the two usages. 2014-08-05Deduplicate CUDA and OpenCL wranglersSergey Sharybin
For now it was mainly about OpenCL wrangler being duplicated between Cycles and Compositor, but with OpenSubdiv work those wranglers were gonna to be duplicated just once again. This commit makes it so Cycles and Compositor uses wranglers from this repositories: - https://github.com/CudaWrangler/cuew - https://github.com/OpenCLWrangler/clew This repositories are based on the wranglers we used before and they'll be likely continued maintaining by us plus some more players in the market. Pretty much straightforward change with some tricks in the CMake/SCons to make this libs being passed to the linker after all other libraries in order to make OpenSubdiv linked against those wranglers in the future. For those who're worrying about Cycles being less standalone, it's not truth, it's rather more flexible now and in the future different wranglers might be used in Cycles. For now it'll just mean those libs would need to be put into Cycles repository together with some other libs from Blender such as mikkspace. This is mainly platform maintenance commit, should not be any changes to the user space. 2014-07-26New compositor node "Sun Beams"Lukas Tönne
This allows adding a "fake" sun beam effect, simulating crepuscular rays from light being scattered in a medium like the atmosphere or deep water. Such effects can be created also by renderers using volumetric lighting, but the compositor feature is a lot cheaper and is independent from 3D rendering. This makes it ideally suited for motion graphics. The implementation uses am optimized accumulation method for gathering color values along a line segment. The inner buffer loop uses fixed offset increments to avoid unnecessary multiplications and avoids variables by using compile-time specialization (see inline comments for further details).
2014-07-15Fix T41067: Muted nodes still do data type conversions.Lukas Tönne
Proxy operations from muted nodes would still create conversion operations where the datatypes don't match, which creates unexpected behavior. Arguably datatype conversion could still happen even when the main operation is muted, but this would be a design change and so is disabled now.
2014-07-08Fix T40986: crash on using the viewer node inside of group nodes.Lukas Tönne
Viewers were activated both inside the active group as well as the top level tree (the latter being a quick fix for getting a fallback viewer). This caused a race condition on the shared viewer image. Now the active viewer is defined at node conversion time in the converter so that only one can be active at a time without each node having to follow complicated rules for exclusion.
2014-06-23T39690: Modifications to Blender's 'temp dir' system.Bastien Montagne
Current temporary data of Blender suffers one major issue - default 'temp' dir on Windows is never automatically cleaned up, and can end being quite big when used by Blender, especially when we have to store per-process data (using getpid() in file names). To address this, this patch: * Divides tempdir paths in two, one for 'base' temp dir (the same as previous unique tempdir path), the other is a mkdtemp-generated sub-dir, specific to each Blender instance. * Only uses base tempdir when we need some shallow persistance accross Blender sessions - and we always reuse the same filename (quit.blend...) or generate small file (crash reports...). * Uses temp sub-dir for heavy files like pointcache or renderEXRs (Save Buffer option). * Erases temp sub-dir on quit or crash. To get this working it also adds a working 'recursive delete' to BLI_delete() under Windows. Note that, as in current code, the 'recover render result' hack-feature that was possible with SaveBuffer option is still removed. A real renderresult cache feature will be added soon, though. 2014-06-13Use advantage of SSE2 instructions in gaussian blur nodeSergey Sharybin
This gives around 30% of speedup for gaussian blur node. Pretty much straightforward implementation inside the node itself, but needed to implement some additional things: - Aligned malloc. It's needed to load data onto SSE registers faster. based on the aligned_malloc() from Libmv with some additional trickery going on to support arbitrary alignment (this magic is needed because of MemHead). In the practice only 16bit alignment is supported because of the lack of aligned malloc with arbitrary alignment for OSX. Not a bit deal for now because we need 16 bytes alignment at this moment only. Could be tweaked further later. - Memory buffers in compositor are now aligned to 16 bytes. Should be harmless for non-SSE cases too. just mentioning.
