2020-08-12Fix T79712: Color Changes do not record in Auto-Key ModePhilipp Oeser
Caused by rBfffba2b6530. In above commit, the buttons rnaindex [-1 for entire arrays like colors] was not used anymore for the entire function body of `ED_autokeyframe_property` (previously in `ui_but_anim_autokey`). Replacing the index with 0 (in the array case) is indeed necessary for `BKE_fcurve_find_by_rna_context_ui`, prior to rBfffba2b6530 this was taken care of by using `ui_but_get_fcurve` instead [which did this internally]. But using an index of 0 (instead of -1) for the entire function body of `ED_autokeyframe_property` fails for the array part later, namely `insert_keyframe` needs -1 here. Now just replace the index for //finding the FCurve//, but use the original for //inserting the keyframe//. Could be backported to 2.83 LTS. Reviewers: campbellbarton, sybren Subscribers:
2020-08-07UI Code Quality: Use derived structs for search buttons and decoratorsJulian Eisel
The current on-size-fits-all `uiBut` creates quite a mess, where it's hard to reason about which members are free for use, under which conditions they are used and how. `uiBut` also has members that aren't used at times, violating the "don't pay for what you don't use" principle. To address this, we want to move to typed buttons, where `uiBut` is just a base struct and each type extends it as needed. That structures data better and type specific data is only available if it's actually used by a button type. Two trade-offs: * Many casts to the derived type have to be done. * Sometimes we change the button type after it's created. So I had to add logic to reallocate the button for use with the new, possibly derived struct. Ideally that wouldn't be needed, but for now that's what we have. Part of T74432. 2020-07-20T77086 Animation: Passing Dependency Graph to DriversSybren A. Stüvel
Custom driver functions need access to the dependency graph that is triggering the evaluation of the driver. This patch passes the dependency graph pointer through all the animation-related calls. Instead of passing the evaluation time to functions, the code now passes an `AnimationEvalContext` pointer: ``` typedef struct AnimationEvalContext { struct Depsgraph *const depsgraph; const float eval_time; } AnimationEvalContext; ``` These structs are read-only, meaning that the code cannot change the evaluation time. Note that the `depsgraph` pointer itself is const, but it points to a non-const depsgraph. FCurves and Drivers can be evaluated at a different time than the current scene time, for example when evaluating NLA strips. This means that, even though the current time is stored in the dependency graph, we need an explicit evaluation time. There are two functions that allow creation of `AnimationEvalContext` objects: - `BKE_animsys_eval_context_construct(Depsgraph *depsgraph, float eval_time)`, which creates a new context object from scratch, and - `BKE_animsys_eval_context_construct_at(AnimationEvalContext *anim_eval_context, float eval_time)`, which can be used to create a `AnimationEvalContext` with the same depsgraph, but at a different time. This makes it possible to later add fields without changing any of the code that just want to change the eval time. This also provides a fix for T75553, although it does require a change to the custom driver function. The driver should call `custom_function(depsgraph)`, and the function should use that depsgraph instead of information from `bpy.context`. 2020-05-01Cleanup: moved drivers to BKE_fcurve_driver.h / fcurve_driver.cSybren A. Stüvel
All the driver-specific code in `fcurve.c` has been moved into a new file `fcurve_driver.c`. The corresponding declarations have been moved from `BKE_fcurve.h` to `BKE_fcurve_driver.h`. All the `#include "BKE_fcurve.h"` statements have been investigated and replaced with `BKE_fcurve_driver.h` where necessary. No functional changes.
2020-04-26Fix utterly wrong decorator button logicJulian Eisel
This was in fact completely messed up, but it worked by accident for all current cases. That is, we always inserted the decorator buttons immediately after the button they applied to. So the first button comparision in ui_but_anim_decorate_find_attached_button() would succeed, because it just compared a few values that all happened to be NULL and thus the comparison returned true. Further, avoid NULL-pointer dereferences and incorrect printing.
2020-04-17UI: Better split layout support for checkboxesJulian Eisel
Makes the following layout changes possible: {F8473498} {F8473499} {F8473502} The next commit will contain many layout changes to make good use of these new possibilities. The result should be more consistent, easier to read and should give a more organized impression. Additionally, it should be possible to replace many sub-panels with compacter layouts. Main changes: * Checkboxes now respect the property split layouts * Add support for row and column headers (i.e. `uiLayout.column(heading="Foo")`, `uiLayout.row(heading="Bar")`). If the first property added to this layout doesn't insert anything into the label split column, the heading is inserted there. Otherwise, it's inserted as own item. * Add support for manually inserting decorators for an existing item (`uiLayout.prop_decorator()`). That way layout creators can manually insert this, which was the only way I saw to support property split layouts with a checkbox before the actual property. {F8471883} * Autogenerated layouts for operator properties look bad if there are only checkboxes (which only use half the region width). So before creating the layout, we iterate over visible properties and disable split layout if all are booleans. I think this is fine, if needed we could also add layout hints to operators. * `uiTemplateOperatorPropertyButs()` now handles macros itself, the caller used to be responsible for this. Code that didn't handle these so far never used macros I think, so this change should be invisible. * Remove manual property split layout from autogenerated operator properties layout. * Padding of checkboxes is tweaked to make their label visually more connected to the checkboxes. * Support split layout for menus (should work for `uiLayout.menu()`, `.operator_menu_enum()`, `.prop_menu_enum()`, maybe more) Maniphest Task: https://developer.blender.org/T65965 Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D7427 Reviewed by: Brecht Van Lommel, William Reynish, Pablo Vazques

2019-08-23RNA: Cleanup PointerRNA structJacques Lucke
The old layout of `PointerRNA` was confusing for historic reasons: ``` typedef struct PointerRNA { struct { void *data; } id; struct StructRNA *type; void *data; } PointerRNA; ``` This patch updates it to: ``` typedef struct PointerRNA { struct ID *owner_id; struct StructRNA *type; void *data; } PointerRNA; ``` Throughout the code base `id.data` was replaced with `owner_id`. Furthermore, many explicit pointer type casts were added which were implicit before. Some type casts to `ID *` were removed. 2019-01-14Keyframing: refactor insertion code to allow property-global NLA tweaks.Alexander Gavrilov
Supporting a strip blending type that treats quaternions as a unit also means being able to adjust all sub-channels as a unit when inserting keyframes. This requires refactoring keyframe insertion code to retrieve array property values for all channels at once, before iterating over the indices being inserted.
2018-12-14NLA: insert keyframes correctly for strips with non-Replace mode.Alexander Gavrilov
NLA strips support using the keyframe values in a variety of ways: adding, subtracting, multiplying, linearly mixing with the result of strips located below in the stack. This is intended for layering tweaks on top of a base animation. However, when inserting keyframes into such strips, it simply inserts the final value of the property, irrespective of these settings. This in fact makes the feature nearly useless. To fix this it is necessary to evaluate the NLA stack below the edited strip and correctly compute the raw key that would produce the intended final value, according to the mode and influence. 2018-12-08User Interface: Add button color for indicating that the value differs from ↵Lukas Stockner
the interpolated one One issue that especially newer users often run into is that they accidentally reset changes to the scene by switching frame without creating a keyframe first. Therefore, this commit adds a new color that is used to draw properties if their current value differs from the one that would be set when switching to this frame. This works both for existing keyframes as well as for currently interpolated frames. Unfortunately the flags in but->flag are full, so I had to move the new flag to but->drawflag and pass that to all relevant functions. I went with orange for the color since afaics it fits with the green and yellow that are currently used for keyframe states and since it's somewhat reddish to signify that there might be something to look out for here. 2018-09-18Support evaluating simple driver expressions without Python interpreter.Alexander Gavrilov
Recently @sergey found that hard-coding evaluation of certain very common driver expressions without calling the Python interpreter produces a 30-40% performance improvement. Since hard-coding is obviously not suitable for production, I implemented a proper parser and interpreter for simple arithmetic expressions in C. The evaluator supports +, -, *, /, (), ==, !=, <, <=, >, >=, and, or, not, ternary if; driver variables, frame, pi, True, False, and a subset of standard math functions that seem most useful. Booleans are represented as numbers, since within the supported operation set it seems to be impossible to distinguish True/False from 1.0/0.0. Boolean operations properly implement lazy evaluation with jumps, and comparisons support chaining like 'a < b < c...'. Expressions are parsed into a very simple stack machine program that can then be safely evaluated in multiple threads. 2018-05-19WIP COW Fix: Insert keyframe operators/api now queries depsgraph for ↵Joshua Leung
evaluated data When using copy on write, insert keyframe operators were reading from old bmain data instead of COW data. This meant that inserting keyframes would often read old/stale data, resulting in invalid keyframes getting created (e.g. from last transform operation, instead of actual current state). This commit makes it so that keyframing operators will ask depsgraph for the evaluated copy of the data, so that it can read values from that. It introduces a new function - `DEG_get_evaluated_rna_pointer()`, which when working correctly/fully, should work just like the other `DEG_get_evaluated_*()` functions, except it lets you pass in an RNA Pointer. However, currently, this is only done for Pose Bones (as a dirty hack, since this is an important/pivotal requirement for production) and/or datablock properties directly (since we can just use the DEG_get_evaluated_id() directly). on the datablock. Committing to a branch for now as this all needs more testing. More work to come later at a more sane time of day!

2016-03-24Driver Keyframing: Some tweaks to make inserting keyframes on Driver ↵Joshua Leung
F-Curves easier Now, when trying to insert a keyframe on a driven property (using IKEY, or with autokeying enabled), the keyframes will get created on the Driver's F-Curve (instead of creating a new FCurve that goes into the active action, but will never do anything). Furthermore, the x-value of the new keyframe will be the current result of the driver expression. Why/Motivations: This way, it becomes easier to create corrective drivers, as you can position all the targets the driver depends on, then adjust the driver value until it does what you need, and then you keyframe that value to bake it into the Driver F-Curve (in effect, "training" the computer how to behave in that case). Usage Notes: * In practice, that particular workflow is still quite clunky to achieve, due to some quirks of how the driver system and the UI widgets interact. Specifically, you'll need to disable/mute the driver before trying to edit the setting (to prevent the driver from immediately resetting the value - before even autokey fires!). However, if you're using the Graph Editor to preview/monitor/manage the keying process, you'll then want to re-enable the driver before changing the targets, so that you can see how much of a change you'll want to be applying! * The warning about editing driver values may need to be disabled or selectively knocked out. I had it disabled while testing this functionality, but it's actually harmless in its current state (if just a bit annoying).
2016-03-13Keyframing: Added ToolSetting for choosing default keyframe typeJoshua Leung
To make it easier for animators working in a multipass pose-to-pose workflow when inserting breakdown keyframes and so forth, it is now possible to specify the "type" of keyframe being created (i.e. the colour of the keyframe, when drawn in the Dope Sheet). Usage: 1) Choose the type of keyframe ("Keyframe", "Breakdown", "Extreme", etc.) from the new dropdown located between the AutoKeying and KeyingSet widgets on the timeline header. 2) Insert keyframes 3) Rejoyce that your newly created keyframes have now been coloured for you already in the DopeSheet. Todo: * Look into a way of using the actual keyframe colours (from the theme) for the icons of these types.
