- "Add node" was showing on wrong location when used via pulldown menus. Now this option will put the nodes in center of the view. - The Curves widget was making itself smaller/bigger based on width of region. That messes up the layout engine now - especially the code that checks if there's a scroller needed or not (it went into an eternal feedback loop). Now this widget has fixed height (like the other larger widgets). Better would be to allow such large widgets to be scaled vertically individually. That's for the todo!

and RNA for it independent of the build flag for enabling Freestyle. Suggested by Sergey Sharybin through a code review of the branch. * Many #ifdef WITH_FREESTYLE blocks were removed to always have Freestyle-specific DNA file specification and RNA for it built in Blender. This will allow Freestyle setting survive even when a non-Freestyle build is used for loading and saving files. It is noted that operations are still conditionally built through #ifdef WITH_FREESTYLE blocks. * To this end, new blenkernel files BKE_freestyle.h and intern/freestyle.c have been added. All API functions in FRS_freestyle_config.h as well as some of those in FRS_freestyle.h were moved to the new files. Now the relocated API functions have BKE_ prefix instead of FRS_.

PyNodes opens up the node system in Blender to scripters and adds a number of UI-level improvements. === Dynamic node type registration === Node types can now be added at runtime, using the RNA registration mechanism from python. This enables addons such as render engines to create a complete user interface with nodes. Examples of how such nodes can be defined can be found in my personal wiki docs atm [1] and as a script template in release/scripts/templates_py/custom_nodes.py [2]. === Node group improvements === Each node editor now has a tree history of edited node groups, which allows opening and editing nested node groups. The node editor also supports pinning now, so that different spaces can be used to edit different node groups simultaneously. For more ramblings and rationale see (really old) blog post on code.blender.org [3]. The interface of node groups has been overhauled. Sockets of a node group are no longer displayed in columns on either side, but instead special input/output nodes are used to mirror group sockets inside a node tree. This solves the problem of long node lines in groups and allows more adaptable node layout. Internal sockets can be exposed from a group by either connecting to the extension sockets in input/output nodes (shown as empty circle) or by adding sockets from the node property bar in the "Interface" panel. Further details such as the socket name can also be changed there. intended Finally, I've figured out a way to get the ID Selector Template to only show the icon for the type of ID block (i.e. the intended design), instead of icon+text. This improves the layout a bit, as previously the type selector and ID-block pointer and label would all be the same sizes (roughly 1/3rd of the overall width each), which meant that there wasn't much room left to actually see which datablock had been selected. Additionally, I've fixed a few more layout types which still didn't correctly propagate the red-alert flags.

besides performance in some cases. * DAG_scene_sort is now removed and replaced by DAG_relations_tag_update in most cases. This will clear the dependency graph, and only rebuild it right before it's needed again when the scene is re-evaluated. This is done because DAG_scene_sort is slow when called many times from python operators. Further the scene argument is not needed because most operations can potentially affect more than the current scene. * DAG_scene_relations_update will now rebuild the dependency graph if it's not there yet, and DAG_scene_relations_rebuild will force a rebuild for the rare cases that need it. * Remove various places where ob->recalc was set manually. This should go through DAG_id_tag_update() in nearly all cases instead since this is now a fast operation. Also removed DAG_ids_flush_update that goes along with such manual tagging of ob->recalc.

2013-02-05New matcap collection for default in release. It's now 24 images, orderedTon Roosendaal
from regular diffuse to more shiny, stone, wax, eflective, glass and two non-realistic ones. The menu now shows it in 3 rows. I made the previews a bit smaller, 96 pixels, like the brushes for painting. Thanks everyone for submitting pics! I updated the credit file too, but name from one person is missing still, will be added next.

Oops! So there was an Unpack button, hidden in the Nkey properties of Image window. This was drawn next to greyed-out buttons, didn't notice it well. I also now found the unpack() menu in editors/util, and there's an Image unpack op. Also the RNA api has an unpack! Will remove the generic unpack op, and add a sound and vfont unpack instead.

(It's mostly intended to aid modeling/sculpt) - By design, Matcaps are a UI feature, and only stored locally for the UI itself, and won't affect rendering or materials. - Currently a set of 16 (GPL licensed) Matcaps have been compiled into Blender. It doesn't take memory or cpu time, until you use it. - Brush Icons and Matcaps use same code now, and only get generated/allocated on actually using it (instead of on startup). - The current set might get new or different images still, based on user feedback. - Matcap images are 512x512 pixels, so each image takes 1 Mb memory. Unused matcaps get freed immediately. The Matcap icon previews (128x128 pixels) stay in memory. - Loading own matcap image files will be added later. That needs design and code work to get it stable and memory-friendly. - The GLSL code uses the ID PreviewImage for matcaps. I tested it using the existing Material previews, which has its limits... especially for textured previews the normal-mapped matcap won't look good.

2012-12-28This commit frees list ui items from their dependencies to Panel, and hence ↵Bastien Montagne
from all the limitations this implied (mostly, the "only one list per panel" one). It introduces a new (py-extendable and registrable) RNA type, UIList (roughly similar to Panel one), which currently contains only "standard" list's scroll pos and size (but may be expended to include e.g. some filtering data, etc.). This now makes lists completely independent from Panels! This UIList has a draw_item callback which allows to customize items' drawing from python, that all addons can now use. Incidentally, this also greatly simplifies the C code of this widget, as we do not code any "special case" here anymore! To make all this work, other changes were also necessary: * Now all buttons (uiBut struct) have a 'custom_data' void pointer, used currently to store the uiList struct associated with a given uiLayoutListBox. * DynamicPaintSurface now exposes a new bool, use_color_preview (readonly), saying whether that surface has some 3D view preview data or not. * UILayout class has now four new (static) functions, to get the actual icon of any RNA object (important e.g. with materials or textures), and to get an enum item's UI name, description and icon. * UILayout's label() func now takes an optional 'icon_value' integer parameter, which if not zero will override the 'icon' one (mandatory to use "custom" icons as generated for material/texture/... previews). Note: not sure whether we should add that one to all UILayout's prop funcs? Note: will update addons using template list asap.

tooltips was wrongly bound to iface option, not tooltips one, and recent changes in r53119 were incorectly using BLF_pgettext, made them simpler by using CTX_IFACE_ macro). Also fixed CTX_FOO_ macros when building without i18n, those were kinda wrong. And hid i18n ui section in userpreferences when built without its support too.

Icon image need correct size still, layer-in-use icon needs remake. - Macbook retina support, use command line --no-native-pixels to disable it - Timeline Marker label was drawing wrong - Trackpad and magic mouse: supports zoom (hold ctrl) - Fix for splash position: removed ghost function and made window size update after creation immediate - Fast undo buffer save now adds UI as well. Could be checked for regular file save even... Quit.blend and temp file saving use this now. - Dixed filename in window on reading quit.blend or temp saves, and they now add a warning in window title: "(Recovered)" - New Userpref option "Keep Session" - this always saves quit.blend, and loads on start. This allows keeping UI and data without actual saves, until you actually save. When you load startup.blend and quit, it recognises the quit.blend as a startup (no file name in header) - Added 3D view copy/paste buffers (selected objects). Shortcuts ctrl-c, ctrl-v (OSX, cmd-c, cmd-v). Coded partial file saving for it. Could be used for other purposes. Todo: use OS clipboards. - User preferences (themes, keymaps, user settings) now can be saved as a separate file. Old option is called "Save Startup File" the new one "Save User Settings". To visualise this difference, the 'save startup file' button has been removed from user preferences window. That option is available as CTRL+U and in File menu still. - OSX: fixed bug that stopped giving mouse events outside window. This also fixes "Continuous Grab" for OSX. (error since 2009)

* Split and moved Cycles’ render layers panels into the render_layer context as well (would be nice to hide this context when not needed, e.g. with the BGE, but this is not so easy to do nicely...). * Fixed some inconsistencies with trunk (probably due to svn merge glitches) using r52858 as reference. Also recovered the missing release/bin/blender-softwaregl file. * A bunch of style code fixes in Blender's own code (not Freestyle itself yet): line lengths, spaces around operators, block formatting, headers, etc. In rna_linestyle.c, color_blend_items was replaced by ramp_blend_items (exported from rna_material.c).
