2022-09-14ViewLayer: Lazy sync of scene data.Monique Dewanchand
When a change happens which invalidates view layers the syncing will be postponed until the first usage. This will improve importing or adding many objects in a single operation/script. `BKE_view_layer_need_resync_tag` is used to tag the view layer to be out of sync. Before accessing `BKE_view_layer_active_base_get`, `BKE_view_layer_active_object_get`, `BKE_view_layer_active_collection` or `BKE_view_layer_object_bases` the caller should call `BKE_view_layer_synced_ensure`. Having two functions ensures that partial syncing could be added as smaller patches in the future. Tagging a view layer out of sync could be replaced with a partial sync. Eventually the number of full resyncs could be reduced. After all tagging has been replaced with partial syncs the ensure_sync could be phased out. This patch has been added to discuss the details and consequences of the current approach. For clarity the call to BKE_view_layer_ensure_sync is placed close to the getters. In the future this could be placed in more strategical places to reduce the number of calls or improve performance. Finding those strategical places isn't that clear. When multiple operations are grouped in a single script you might want to always check for resync. Some areas found that can be improved. This list isn't complete. These areas aren't addressed by this patch as these changes would be hard to detect to the reviewer. The idea is to add changes to these areas as a separate patch. It might be that the initial commit would reduce performance compared to master, but will be fixed by the additional patches. **Object duplication** During object duplication the syncing is temporarily disabled. With this patch this isn't useful as when disabled the view_layer is accessed to locate bases. This can be improved by first locating the source bases, then duplicate and sync and locate the new bases. Will be solved in a separate patch for clarity reasons ({D15886}). **Object add** `BKE_object_add` not only adds a new object, but also selects and activates the new base. This requires the view_layer to be resynced. Some callers reverse the selection and activation (See `get_new_constraint_target`). We should make the selection and activation optional. This would make it possible to add multiple objects without having to resync per object. **Postpone Activate Base** Setting the basact is done in many locations. They follow a rule as after an action find the base and set the basact. Finding the base could require a resync. The idea is to store in the view_layer the object which base will be set in the basact during the next sync, reducing the times resyncing needs to happen. 2022-03-17View 3D: support for select passthrough when picking selected itemsCampbell Barton
Currently this isn't used in the key-map, it will eventually allow the 3D viewports tweak tool to match the behavior of other editors that support tweaking a selection without first de-selecting all other elements.
2022-03-16Cleanup: de-duplicate struct declarationCampbell Barton
Also use boolean instead of int.
2022-03-16View 3D: move picking arguments into a struct & minor refactorCampbell Barton
- Add SelectPick_Params struct to make picking logic more straightforward and easier to extend. - Use `eSelectOp` instead of booleans (extend, deselect, toggle) which were used to represent 4 states (which wasn't obvious). - Handle deselect_all when pocking instead of view3d_select_exec, de-duplicate de-selection which was already needed in when replacing the selection in picking functions. - Handle outliner update & notifiers in the picking functions instead of view3d_select_exec. - Fix particle select deselect_all option which did nothing.

Use a shorter/simpler license convention, stops the header taking so much space. Follow the SPDX license specification: https://spdx.org/licenses - C/C++/objc/objc++ - Python - Shell Scripts - CMake, GNUmakefile While most of the source tree has been included - `./extern/` was left out. - `./intern/cycles` & `./intern/atomic` are also excluded because they use different header conventions. doc/license/SPDX-license-identifiers.txt has been added to list SPDX all used identifiers. 2021-07-13Refactor: Move vertex group names to object dataHans Goudey
This commit moves the storage of `bDeformGroup` and the active index to `Mesh`, `Lattice`, and `bGPdata` instead of `Object`. Utility functions are added to allow easy access to the vertex groups given an object or an ID. As explained in T88951, the list of vertex group names is currently stored separately per object, even though vertex group data is stored on the geometry. This tends to complicate code and cause bugs, especially as geometry is created procedurally and tied less closely to an object. The "Copy Vertex Groups to Linked" operator is removed, since they are stored on the geometry anyway. This patch leaves the object-level python API for vertex groups in place. Creating a geometry-level RNA API can be a separate step; the changes in this commit are invasive enough as it is. Note that opening a file saved in 3.0 in an earlier version means the vertex groups will not be available. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D11689

2021-01-27UI: Fix incorrect RNA percentage property definitionsHans Goudey
In two cases the percentage property was actually used incorrectly, as pointed out in T82070. The range was [0, 1], but the properties were still displayed as percentages. There is a preference to control whether to display factors or percentages, so it usually doesn't make sense to manually define properties as percentages. 2019-09-18Fix excessive dependency graph evaluation while painting strokesBrecht Van Lommel
Particularly noticeable when vertex painting with a subsurf modifier. In some cases every sculpt or paint stroke step would evaluate the dependency graph. This should only happen for redraws. Now more selectively choose if the dependency graph should be evaluated to initialize the view context. Doing it in the view context evaluation is somewhat hidden, now it's more explicit. 2019-03-263D View: move deselect all logic into an optionCampbell Barton
This removes `VIEW3D_OT_select_or_deselect_all`, adding a deselect_all option to the `VIEW3D_OT_select` operator. - Add utility functions to simplify de-selecting all. - Return true from selection functions when they change the selection to avoid redundant updates. - Use arrays of bases when passing objects between selection utility functions since some users require bases. - Fix logical error in box selection that updated all objects after the first hit.

2019-02-01Cleanup: remove redundant, invalid info from headersCampbell Barton
BF-admins agree to remove header information that isn't useful, to reduce noise. - BEGIN/END license blocks Developers should add non license comments as separate comment blocks. No need for separator text. - Contributors This is often invalid, outdated or misleading especially when splitting files. It's more useful to git-blame to find out who has developed the code. See P901 for script to perform these edits.
2018-12-07Depsgraph: Remove duplicated sets of recalc/update flagsSergey Sharybin
There were at least three copies of those: - OB_RECALC* family of flags, which are rudiment of an old dependency graph system. - PSYS_RECALC* which were used by old dependency graph system as a separate set since the graph itself did not handle particle systems. - DEG_TAG_* which was used to tag IDs. Now there is a single set, which defines what can be tagged and queried for an update. It also has some aggregate flags to make queries simpler. Lets once and for all solve the madness of those flags, stick to a single set, which will not overlap with anything or require any extra conversion. Technically, shouldn't be measurable user difference, but some of the agregate flags for few dependency graph components did change. Fixes T58632: Particle don't update rotation settings
2018-11-25Local ViewDalai Felinto
Bring back per-viewport localview. This is based on Blender 2.79. We have a limit of 16 different local view viewports. We are using both the numpad /, as well as the regular /. Missing features: * Hack to make sure lights are always visible. * Make rendered mode with external engines to support this as well (probably just need to support this in the RNA iterators). * Support over 16 viewports by taking existing viewports out of local view. The code can use a cleanup pass in the future to unify the test to see if an object is visible (or we can use TESTBASE in more places).

2018-08-143D View boarder/lasso select tool optionsCampbell Barton
Add tool options to control how select operates (add/sub/set/and/xor). Note: edit mode armature select still needs to support all options, this is complicated by how it handles partial end-point selection.
2018-06-13Tag object/scene for selection update from operatorsSergey Sharybin
Before that depsgraph tagging was done from inside notifier listener in viewport. This had the following issues: - If there are no viewports, selection tag was not done. Causing possible issues when object becomes visible. - Required special trickery to detect which data to tag for update. - Was causing crash when transforming/selecting markers in clip editor. This is because selecting marker needed to poke viewport to redraw, since selected bundles will be displayed differently in viewport.
