2022-04-18Cleanup: Move object_modifier.c to C++Hans Goudey
This allows using C++ only APIs/data structures, and potentially simplifies adding support to apply modifiers for the Curves object.
2022-03-18Cleanup: Move object_transform.c to C++Hans Goudey
Compilation and clang tidy fixes, use Vector instead of the macro-based C array system. Builds on all platforms on the buildbot.
2022-03-14RNA: Generate property declerations header, solving msg-bus C++ incompatibilityJulian Eisel
Lets `makesrna` generate a `RNA_prototypes.h` header with declarations for all RNA properties. This can be included in regular source files when needing to reference RNA properties statically. This solves an issue on MSVC with adding such declarations in functions, like we used to do. See 800fc1736748. Removes any such declarations and the related FIXME comments. 2022-03-01Curves: Move curves primitive to object add codeHans Goudey
Currently, any time a Curves data-block is created, the `curves_random` function runs, filling it with 500 random curves, also adding a radius attribute. This is just left over from the prototype in the initial commit that added the type. This commit moves the code that creates the random data to the curve editors module, like the other primitives are organized. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D14211
2022-03-01Cleanup: Move object_add.c to C++Hans Goudey
This patch was tested on the buildbot first, it builds on all platforms.
2022-02-11File headers: SPDX License migrationCampbell Barton
Use a shorter/simpler license convention, stops the header taking so much space. Follow the SPDX license specification: https://spdx.org/licenses - C/C++/objc/objc++ - Python - Shell Scripts - CMake, GNUmakefile While most of the source tree has been included - `./extern/` was left out. - `./intern/cycles` & `./intern/atomic` are also excluded because they use different header conventions. doc/license/SPDX-license-identifiers.txt has been added to list SPDX all used identifiers. 2022-02-07Curves: Rename "Hair" types, variables, and functions to "Curves"Hans Goudey
Based on discussions from T95355 and T94193, the plan is to use the name "Curves" to describe the data-block container for multiple curves. Eventually this will replace the existing "Curve" data-block. However, it will be a while before the curve data-block can be replaced so in order to distinguish the two curve types in the UI, "Hair Curves" will be used, but eventually changed back to "Curves". This patch renames "hair-related" files, functions, types, and variable names to this convention. A deep rename is preferred to keep code consistent and to avoid any "hair" terminology from leaking, since the new data-block is meant for all curve types, not just hair use cases. The downside of this naming is that the difference between "Curve" and "Curves" has become important. That was considered during design discussons and deemed acceptable, especially given the non-permanent nature of the somewhat common conflict. Some points of interest: - All DNA compatibility is lost, just like rBf59767ff9729. - I renamed `ID_HA` to `ID_CV` so there is no complete mismatch. - `hair_curves` is used where necessary to distinguish from the existing "curves" plural. - I didn't rename any of the cycles/rendering code function names, since that is also used by the old hair particle system. 2022-01-30Cleanup: Cmake: remove unnecessary definitions for internationalizationAaron Carlisle
Previously, macros were ifdefed using the cmake option `WITH_INTERNATIONAL` However, the is unnecessary as withen the functions themselves have checks for building without internationalization. 2021-07-30Cleanup: Move remesh files to C++Hans Goudey
This will be helpful for some cleanups I'd like to do, including removing the unecessary C API for OpenVDB and unifying some attribute transfer code.
2021-05-20Cleanup: rename incorrectly named experimental feature flagJacques Lucke
The `WITH_GEOMETRY_NODES` flag does not make sense anymore, it is just protecting the `Simulation` data block that is not used currently.
2020-12-15Move Point Cloud object back to Experimental FeaturesDalai Felinto
The geometry-nodes features no longer depend on the point cloud object. Therefore the point cloud object, although important in the future, can be postponed until we have render and edit mode fully working. 2020-09-17Pointclouds: support mesh <-> pointcloud in convert operatorPhilipp Oeser
Just converts verts to points and vice versa. Materials and Attribute layers are preserved (so for example if you set custom radii on the pointcloud, convert to mesh, then convert back to pointcloud, this will be preserved). Also not add a Radius layer by default (it is still added and filled when adding a pointcloud object from the menu), a global Radius property that will be used if there is no radius attribute can be added later. A Radius attribute can also be added in the pointcloud data properties (and filled via python). This will also add a new utility function that copies materials between datablocks: BKE_id_materials_copy ref T75717 Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D7391

2020-06-23Preferences: New experimental settings for particle system and hairJacques Lucke
This replaces the cmake options `WITH_NEW_OBJECT_TYPES` and `WITH_NEW_SIMULATION_TYPE` with two experimental userpref settings: * `use_new_particle_system`: Enables the point cloud type and the simulation editor. * `use_new_hair_type`: Only displays the add-operator in the add menu for now. Note, in the current state you can't do anything productive with the new particle system or the new hair type. Features will be added step by step in the upcoming weeks and months. 2020-03-31Voxel Remesh: Edit Voxel Size operatorPablo Dobarro
This operator lets the user control the voxel/detail size of the voxel remesher directly from the 3D view in a similar way the Brush radius and strength are controlled. The shorcut from sculpt mode is Shift + R (similar to Shift + F for brush strength). It shows a grid that represents the real voxel size of the object. The grid and the text are automatically aligned to the view to avoid rendering all voxels with thousands of lines. It also has a slow mode when pressing shift that works like the slow mode of the brush radius control. This operator controls the value changes sensitivity automatically to avoid jumping to extremelly high resolutions and run out of memory. This way, adjusments done in lower voxel sizes are more precise. Pressing Ctrl disables this functionality and allows changing the voxel size directly in a linear way. 2019-08-14OpenVDB: Voxel RemesherPablo Dobarro
The voxel remesher introduces a new workflow for sculpting without any of the limitations of Dyntopo (no geometry errors or performance penalty when blocking shapes). It is also useful for simulations and 3D printing. This commit includes: - Voxel remesh operator, voxel size mesh property and general remesh flags. - Paint mask reprojection. - Geometry undo/redo for sculpt mode. This should support remesh operations as well as future tools that modify the topology of the sculpt in a single step, like trimming tools or mesh insert brushes. - UI changes in the sculpt topbar and the mesh properties pannel. You can get more info here: https://code.blender.org/2017/12/drawing-2d-animation-in-blender-2-8/ https://code.blender.org/2018/07/grease-pencil-status-update/ This is the result of nearly two years of development and I want thanks firstly the other members of the grease pencil team: Daniel M. Lara, Matias Mendiola and Joshua Leung for their support, ideas and to keep working in the project all the time, without them this project had been impossible. Also, I want thanks other Blender developers for their help, advices and to be there always to help me, and specially to Clément Foucault, Dalai Felinto, Pablo Vázquez and Campbell Barton.
2018-05-09Modifiers: ported Surface Deform to MeshSybren A. Stüvel
The modifier performed the 'bind' operation not in the bind operator, but delayed in the mesh evaluation. This saved the result in a CoW copy instead of in the actual modifier data. The binding operator now follows the same approach as Mesh Deform: it forces the modifiers to run on the real (non-CoW) data, making it possible for the modifier to store the binding data. This commit also ports the usage of DerivedMesh to Mesh.

2015-01-09Transfer Data: add main core code and operators.Bastien Montagne
This add code needed to map a CD data layout from source mesh towards destination one, and code needed to actually transfer data, using BKE's mesh remap generated data. This allows to transfer most CD layers (vgroups, vcols, uvs...) as well as fake, boolean ones (like smooth/sharp edges/faces, etc.). Some types are not yet transferable, mainly shape keys, this is known TODO. Data transfer can also use some advanced mixing in some cases (mostly, vgroups and vcols). Notes: * New transfer operators transfer data from active object towards selected ones. * Modifier will be committed separately. * Old weight transfer code (for vgroups) is kept for now, mostly because it is the only usable one in weightpaint mode (it transfers from selected object to active one, this is not sensible in Object mode, but needed in WeightPaint one). This will be addressed soon. Again, heavily reviewed and enhanced by Campbell, thanks!

2014-05-03Bake API - bpy.ops.object.bake()Dalai Felinto
New operator that can calls a bake function to the current render engine when available. This commit provides no feature for the users, but allows external engines to be accessed by the operator and be integrated with the baking api. The API itself is simple. Blender sends a populated array of BakePixels to the renderer, and gets back an array of floats with the result. The Blender Internal (and multires) system is still running independent, but we eventually will pipe it through the API as well. Cycles baking will come next as a separated commit Python Operator: ---------------- The operator can be called with some arguments, or a user interface can be created for it. In that case the arguments can be ommited and the interface can expose the settings from bpy.context.scene.render.bake bpy.ops.object.bake(type='COMBINED', filepath="", width=512, height=512, margin=16, use_selected_to_active=False, cage_extrusion=0, cage="", normal_space='TANGENT', normal_r='POS_X', normal_g='POS_Y', normal_b='POS_Z', save_mode='INTERNAL', use_clear=False, use_split_materials=False, use_automatic_name=False) Note: external save mode is currently disabled. Supported Features: ------------------ * Margin - Baked result is extended this many pixels beyond the border of each UV "island," to soften seams in the texture. * Selected to Active - bake shading on the surface of selected object to the active object. The rays are cast from the lowpoly object inwards towards the highpoly object. If the highpoly object is not entirely involved by the lowpoly object, you can tweak the rays start point with Cage Extrusion. For even more control of the cage you can use a Cage object. * Cage Extrusion - distance to use for the inward ray cast when using selected to active * Custom Cage - object to use as cage (instead of the lowpoly object). * Normal swizzle - change the axis that gets mapped to RGB * Normal space - save as tangent or object normal spaces Supported Passes: ----------------- Any pass that is supported by Blender renderlayer system. Though it's up to the external engine to provide a valid enum with its supported passes. Normal passes get a special treatment since we post-process them to converted and "swizzled" Development Notes for External Engines: --------------------------------------- (read them in bake_api.c) * For a complete implementation example look at the Cycles Bake commit (next).
