2020-07-26Cleanup: GPU: Remove GPU_glew.h outside of GPU moduleClément Foucault
Remove use of GL* constants and types inside the codebase. There is still a few occurence to get rid of.
2020-07-18Cleanup: GPU: Encapsulate scissor testClément Foucault
2020-07-02GPUOffScreen: Remove the sample parameterClément Foucault
This is because the DRW module is no longer compatible with drawing using MSAA. This also change the Python API.
2020-04-03Code Quality: Replace for loops with LISTBASE_FOREACHDalai Felinto
Note this only changes cases where the variable was declared inside the for loop. To handle it outside as well is a different challenge. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D7320
2020-04-03Cleanup: Rename ScrArea variables from sa to areaJulian Eisel
Follow up of b2ee1770d4c3 and 10c2254d412d, part of T74432. Now the area and region naming conventions should be less confusing. Mostly a careful batch rename but had to do few smaller fixes. Also ran clang-format on affected files.
2020-04-03Cleanup: use abbreviated names for unsigned types in editorsCampbell Barton
2020-03-19Cleanup: `make format` after SortedIncludes changeDalai Felinto
2019-10-04GPU: Platform Support LevelJeroen Bakker
Adds a check when starting blender if your platform is supported. We use a blacklist as drivers are updated more regular then blender (stable releases). The mechanism detects if the support level changed or has been validated by the user previously. Changes can happen due to users updating their drivers, but also when we change the support level in our code base. When the user has seen the limited support level message it is saved in the user config. It would be better to have a system specific config section, but currently not clear what could benefit from that. When the platform is unsupported or has limited support a dialog box will appear including a link to our user manual describing what to do. **Windows** Windows uses the MessageBox that is provided by the windows kernel. **X11** We use a very lowlevel messagebox for X11. It is very limited in use and can be fine tuned when needed. **SDL/APPLE** There is no implementation for SDL or APPLE at this moment as the platform support feature targets mostly Windows users. 2019-02-18doxygen: add newline after \fileCampbell Barton
While \file doesn't need an argument, it can't have another doxy command after it.
2019-02-06Cleanup: remove redundant doxygen \file argumentCampbell Barton
Move \ingroup onto same line to be more compact and make it clear the file is in the group.
2019-02-01Cleanup: remove redundant, invalid info from headersCampbell Barton
BF-admins agree to remove header information that isn't useful, to reduce noise. - BEGIN/END license blocks Developers should add non license comments as separate comment blocks. No need for separator text. - Contributors This is often invalid, outdated or misleading especially when splitting files. It's more useful to git-blame to find out who has developed the code. See P901 for script to perform these edits.
2019-01-06Cleanup: add trailing commas to structsCampbell Barton

2018-12-02Fix T57455: Laggy, freezing UI with Linux and Intel UHD 620Clément Foucault
Seems like a driver bug but doing glFlush() before these calls fixes it.
2018-12-01UI: Simplify the area border drawingClément Foucault
Instead of doing a lot of alpha blended drawing with jittering, use the fragment shader to do the masking using a circle mask. This is much simpler and requires much less resources. Hopefully this may solve the issue we have with the Intels UHD Graphics 620 on linux.

2018-08-23UI: Optimize the area border drawingClément Foucault
It is was not really a bottleneck but it was triggering my OCD when 1/3rd of the drawcalls in a normal scene were basically only caused by this.

2018-06-30Cleanup: Move area geometry management into an own fileSeverin
Area geometry management is quite complex and not easy to get into. We should gradualy build an API that abstracts away this complexity.
2018-06-29Cleanup: Add/use function to get area width/height from area verticesSeverin
This used to be rather cryptic and it was easy to forget the `+ 1` which in fact is needed to get the correct width/height, see e626998a262ebe4f. This should also fix some minor off-by-one errors.

2018-06-28GLRefactor: partially remove gl calls from source/blender/editors.Ray Molenkamp
This translates the gl calls to the new GPU_ wrappers from D3501. Given it's tedious and repetitive work, this patch does as much as it can with search + replace, the remainder of the gl calls will need to be manually dealt with on a case by case basis. This fixes 13 of the 28 failing editors when building without opengl. For the list of substitutions see D3502 Reviewers: brecht Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D3502

2018-04-27WM: new offscreen window draw method to replace all existing methods.Brecht Van Lommel
For Blender 2.8 we had to be compatible with very old OpenGL versions, and triple buffer was designed to work without offscreen rendering, by copying the the backbuffer to a texture right before swapping. This way we could avoid redrawing unchanged regions by copying them from this texture on the next redraws. Triple buffer used to suffer from poor performance and driver bugs on specific cards, so alternative draw methods remained available. Now that we require newer OpenGL, we can have just a single draw method that draw each region into an offscreen buffer, and then draws those to the screen. This has some advantages: * Poor 3D view performance when using Region Overlap should be solved now, since we can also cache overlapping regions in offscreen buffers. * Page flip, anaglyph and interlace stereo drawing can be a little faster by avoiding a copy to an intermediate texture. * The new 3D view drawing already writes to an offscreen buffer, which we can draw from directly instead of duplicating it to another buffer. * Eventually we will be able to remove depth and stencil buffers from the window and save memory, though at the moment there are still some tools using it so it's not possible yet. * This also fixes a bug with Eevee sampling not progressing with stereo drawing in the 3D viewport. Note: Not bothering with doversion, re-using 280, 10 bump.
2018-04-22Embossing for the areas only, with unified colorDalai Felinto
We bring back embossing however only for areas. We use the same color for the corners.
2018-04-22UI: Draw round corners between the editorsDalai Felinto
This makes easier to distinguish between different editors (as oppose to an editor and its regions). Note action zones look a bit strange with this. I recommend we do next: * Make sure all 4 corners can be used as action zones. * Remove their drawing code (or show them only on mouse hover).
2018-03-06Screen: Fix screen layout preview render.Clément Foucault
2018-02-17Code cleanup: remove WM subwindows.Brecht Van Lommel
These no longer made much sense after regions were added, they just duplicated state that was already in the regions.
2018-02-14GPU: use alpha blend that works for drawing to transparent buffer.Brecht Van Lommel
It's unlikely to ever be intentional to square the source alpha, as happens with glBlendFunc, so this changes the blending throughout the code.
