2010-01-23Durian Request: Expansion of Action Groups not linked between DopeSheet ↵Joshua Leung
editors and the Graph Editor Action Groups can now be expanded/collapsed in DopeSheet editors without the same thing happening in the Graph Editor, and visa versa. This should help improve the workflow, since the channel lists are generally kept more compact in the DopeSheet, while they are more expanded in the Graph Editor, so less time is spent expanding/collapsing stuff. Also this should hopefully alleviate some of the errors from accidentally deleting and then having to restore channels that were not intended to be deleted. Also, switched the order of the expand/collapse hotkeys (in the channels list region) for channels so that Ctrl +/- now expands/collapses selected channels only, while +/- expands/collapses all channels. This should make it more convenient to quickly open up all groups to select F-Curves for the Graph Editor.
2010-01-15Reverting changes made in r25940 with the NLA unmapping. Joshua Leung
The reverted code was just blindly restoring the old state of the keyframes; changes to selection state, value changes, handle type, etc. were overridden, and the cases where keyframes were deliberately retimed or otherwise were also ignored. I'm not sure what problems these changes were meant to be solving, but will reassess the situation when I get more info on this.

2010-01-13NLA: fix keyframes getting messed up when making strips longer. For drawingBrecht Van Lommel
and other operations the nla mapping would be applied to the curves, but not restored correctly. The unmap function was not the inverse of the map function, and it's not clear to me it's even possible to make it so due to repeat, so now the old coordinates are backed up in a list and then restored afterwards.

2009-10-13DopeSheet: DopeSheet Summary ChannelJoshua Leung
Added a summary channel that appears as the first channel in the DopeSheet. For now, this is disabled by default, but can be enabled using the 'Summary' toggle in the header between the mode selector and the standard filtering options. This has been done, since there is a possibility that it will make the DopeSheet run a bit slower. In this channel you can do everything that you can normally do with DopeSheet channels (i.e. select, transform, edit, etc). It might be worth noting though that care probably needs to be taken when trying to use Copy/Paste, since that is still a bit fidgety... In the process, I've fixed a few bugs, mostly with selection: - Selecting keyframes in scene summaries wouldn't work - Border select only worked in F-Curve and Group channels
2009-07-182.5 - Optimisations for Keyframe Drawing in DopeSheetJoshua Leung
Keyframes are now prepared for drawing by being added to a binary-tree structure instead of using insertion-sort on a Double-Linked List. This gives rather significant improvements on a few bad cases (*). I've implemented a basic Red-Black Tree whose nodes/data-structures can also be used as a simple Double-Linked List (ListBase) for this purpose. The implementation of this tree currently does not have support for removing individual nodes, since such capabilities aren't needed yet. Stats (using keyframes from an imported .bvh animation file): * When only the keyframes are drawn (i.e. long keyframes are not identified), the time needed to draw the DopeSheet region 10 times went down from 4000ms to about 300ms. * When long keyframes are considered as well, the same test has gone from 6000ms to 3000ms. There is still a bottleneck there that I haven't been able to remove yet (an attempt at this made the runtimes go through the roof - 32000 ms for the test done here). Assorted Notes: * Added missing headers for some files * Fixed profiling flags for mingw. There was an extra space which prevented the sound-code from compiling.
2009-07-112.5 - Added descriptions to all Animation Editor operatorsJoshua Leung
DopeSheet and Graph Editor operators were missing these, since many of these operators were written before that field was added. NLA Editor's operators already have them.
2009-07-10NLA SoC: Notifier Fixes for Animation Editors Joshua Leung
I've gone through all the Animation Editor operators, making sure they send appropriate notifiers, and that these notifiers are handled. * Added a separate category for animation-related notifiers, since the old-style ones attached to specific datatypes only was turning out to be not too feasible. * For now, the focus has been on making sure that all Animation Editors update when there have been any potentially suitable changes at all. Later on, we can filter these more carefully to only take the ones we really need (for optimisation purposes)
2009-07-09NLA SoC: Cleanup of Keyframe Drawing code for DopeSheetJoshua Leung
* Removed the glaMapping stuff in favour of remapping the keyframes manually. The old code was causing some mess, and not really working well for the DopeSheet with various mappings being used. * Fixed NLA-mapped selection in DopeSheet. Clicking on individual keyframes should now work ok. More testing required though. * Keyframes in DopeSheet are now drawn fully using OpenGL (instead of icons). They look less tactile now, but this may be compensated with in terms of speed? Previously I disabled this type of drawing due to issues with some cards. Enabled again for now, but mainly because I couldn't get the icons to line up nicely in screenspace... * Borderselect in DopeSheet. I've had a look at issues with it selecting the wrong channel's keyframes. The issues don't seem to be solved yet though... will look again tomorrow.
2009-07-07NLA SoC: Current Frame can now be negative Joshua Leung
This commit is quite experimental, and might have to be reverted, but in quite a few places, the cleanups from this commit were already necessary. * I've left most of the image-handling functions alone, since I'm not sure how well they cope with negative indices. * Start/End frames cannot be negative for now... any specific reasons why they should be negative?
2009-06-28NLA SoC: NLA Mapping Cleanup Joshua Leung
While trying to fix the mapping conversions for repeat, I came across some limitations with the current (soon to be previous) mapping methods. Now the mapping conversions should work nicely for all places that use them.

2009-06-23NLA SoC: Big Commit - Restored NLA-Mapping Corrections Joshua Leung
In TweakMode, the keyframes of the Active Action are now shown (and can be edited) in NLA-mapped time, with appropriate corrections applied when editing. This works in the DopeSheet and Graph Editors :) To do this, got rid of the old wrappers/API-methods, replacing them with new-style ones. A few methods previously (in this branch) used only for evaluation are now used for this purpose too. As the same code is used for editing + evaluation, this should now be much better to work with. I've only done a few brief tests now, but I think I might've muddled the invert-flags on one or two cases which I'll need to check out tomorrow. So, beware that there may be some weird and critical bugs for the next few days here... Also, added proper license headers to new NLA files. TODO: - testing + bugfixing due to this commit - show range of keyframes in NLA Editor active-action line

2009-06-22NLA SoC: DopeSheet Cleanups Joshua Leung
* Replaced old-style menu defines with the new-style Layout Engine ones. These are now much cleaner as a result :) * Wrapped DopeSheet and Graph Editors in RNA to allow them to use the new Layout Engine for menu drawing * Shortened the names of operators in the DopeSheet, removing the "keyframes" prefix since that's the only real context which can operate there. * Standardised a few names, and renamed a confusingly named operator (cfrasnap -> jump to frame)
2009-06-21NLA SoC: Fixes for Operator Poll Callbacks Joshua Leung
* Clicking on NLA tracks while in TweakMode now works so that channels can be muted/protected/expanded as per usual. However, they cannot be selected, as changing the selection state can interfere with TweakMode state changes * Operators for animation channel-lists now use proper poll callbacks, which also take into account TweakMode where appropriate (i.e. all selection operators are now allowed to operate in NLA while in TweakMode, and all other operators will only work in Animation Editors) * Action Editor operators now use the poll callback for Action Editors/DopeSheet instead of the generic active-araa one.

2009-06-16RNABrecht Van Lommel
* Added icon to property and enum property items. The latter is responsible for the large number of files changed. * For RNA functions, added PROP_RNAPTR flag to ask for a PointerRNA as argument instead of a C pointer, instead of doing it implicitly with the AnyType type. * Material: properly wrap diffuse/specular param variables, and rename some things for consistency. * MaterialTextureSlot: added "enabled" property (ma->septex). * Image: make animated property editable. * Image Editor: make some things editable, notifiers, respect state. * Context: fix issue with screen not being set as ID.

2009-06-05NLA SoC: Operators for 'tweaking' strip actions (TAB-Key for both)Joshua Leung
In this commit, I've introduced the mechanism by which actions already referenced by strips used in the NLA can be edited (or 'tweaked'). To use, simply select a strip you wish to edit, and hit that TAB key to start tweaking that strip's action, and hit TAB again once you're done. What happens when you enter 'tweak mode': 1) The action of the active strip temporarily becomes the 'active action' of the AnimData block. You are now able to edit this in one of the Animation Editors (DopeSheet/Action, Graph Editors) as per normal (i.e. sliding keyframes around, inserting keyframes, etc.). The 'action-line' will therefore get drawn immediately above the active track containing the active strip, so that it's clear that that's what we're editing. 2) All the NLA-tracks (and all the strips within them) that occur after the track that the active strip lived in get disabled while you're in tweakmode. This is equivalent to travelling back to an earlier state in a construction history stack. 3) The active NLA track also gets disabled while in tweakmode, since it would otherwise interfere with the correct functioning of the tweaking for the action of interest. 4) The 'real' active action (i.e. the one displaced by the active strip's action) gets put into temp storage, and will be restored after you exit tweakmode. 5) Any strips which also reference the action being tweaked will get highlighted in red shading to indicate that you may be making some changes to the action which you don't really want to make for the other users too. Please note though, that this is only a rough prototype of this functionality, with some niceties still to come. i.e.: * NLA-tracks after the active track should still get drawn above the 'tweaking action line', but perhaps with different appearance? * Various tools will still need awareness of this to prevent corrupting operations from taking place. How to proceed is still undecided... * When exiting tweak-mode, the strip the action came from still needs some form of syncing with the modified action... there are a few tricky issues here that will need to be solved * Evaluation code doesn't totally take this into account yet... --- Also, fixed a number of bugs with various code (notably selection, and also a few drawing bugs)
2009-05-31NLA SoC: Basic selection operators Joshua Leung
* Added click-select/left-right select and deselect all/invert all selection operators. For now, these basic operators will suffice (more advanced selection operators will be coded at a later stage). * Fixed a few bugs in DopeSheet found while coding the relevant tools for NLA. * Added custom border-select operator for NLA channels (since the standard one assumes negative direction channel order) * Added new API-method for NLA strips to check if the strip occurs within a given range, since this test needed to be performed in a few places... * Tweaked the NLA Editor View2D ranges a bit to give saner default sizing. This still isn't right yet though.
2009-05-092.5 Bugfixes:Joshua Leung
More work on getting these marker-dependent tools working. They should finally work now :)
2009-05-082.5 - Restored Various Tools using MarkersJoshua Leung
* Added back a few Marker-API tools * Restored column select tools using markers (some of these aren't working right yet though).
2009-04-12Graph Editor:Joshua Leung
* Column select (ALT-RMB) works again, and in conjunction with 'extend' (i.e. SHIFT) to add to selection instead of just replacing * Select all keyframes in curve (CTRL-ALT-RMB) now works
2009-04-12Action Editor: Selection tools cleanupJoshua Leung
* Cleaned up the code for selecting keyframes * Click-column-select (Alt-RMB) now works * Also, moved a function used in both Action/DopeSheet and Graph editors to the Animation module
2009-04-10Action Editor - Part 2 of Code CleanupsJoshua Leung
Nothing much to see here... there's still a few things to recode a bit nicer...
2009-04-10Animation Editors - Part 1 of Code CleanupsJoshua Leung
* Fixed a few typos in the code * Switched the meaning of the Ctrl and Alt modifiers when selecting keyframes. - Ctrl is now select all keyframes on one side of time cursor - Alt is now select all keyframes at same time as a particular keyframe. TODO: While testing these changes, I've found that this column-select is not working yet as the tolerances are too low. This will be rectified soon.
2009-03-29- use clear, set, add, enable, disable and toggle as a prefix in operator namesCampbell Barton
- use select as a suffix eg UV_OT_loop_select -> UV_OT_select_loop - Each select all operator was using slightly different wording... select_all, deselect_all, de_select_all, select_de_select_all -> select_all_toggle - selection -> select - POSE_OT_select_connected -> POSE_OT_select_linked to match other operators - NODE_OT_delete_selection -> NODE_OT_delete since its not used in other operators - ANIM_OT_previewrange_define -> ANIM_OT_previewrange_set to match other operators - NODE_OT_fit_all -> NODE_OT_view_all to match other operators - View2D_OT_* -> VIEW2D_OT_* to match VIEW3D - View2D_OT_view_downscroll -> VIEW2D_OT_scroll_down more logical - removed MARKER_OT_mouseselect_extend and made extend a boolean property of MARKER_OT_mouseselect - MARKER_OT_mouseselect -> MARKER_OT_select - GROUP_OT_group_remove -> GROUP_OT_objects_remove more logical since its removing objects from groups - MESH_OT_removedoublesflag -> MESH_OT_remove_doubles - redundant words MESH_OT_split_mesh -> MESH_OT_split, OBJECT_OT_object_delete -> OBJECT_OT_delete renamed selection operator properties extend_select -> extend column_select -> column select_children_only -> children_only ... Since these are all in the context of selection operators there is no need for the extra 'select' in the property name. Updated docs http://www.graphicall.org/ftp/ideasman42/html/bpyoperator-module.html
2009-02-22Animation Editors: Bugfixes for channel selection tools Joshua Leung
* Ctrl-Shift select for Action Groups works again * Clicking on a channel's data will select it, and also make it the active one in the list now * Selecting keyframes in F-Curves will select the F-Curve channel too now (+ make it active)
2009-02-13Animato: Various improvementsJoshua Leung
* Scene and World AnimDatas are now included in animation editors * Keyframes for integer-value settings now get the FCURVE_INT_VALUES flag set for their F-Curves, which restricts those curves to only having integer-values. F-Curve displays have been altered accordingly, but some editing tools may still need tweaks to work with this. * Fixed notifiers for Insert Keyframe -> Active Keying Set.
2009-01-312.5Ton Roosendaal
Big commit, but mainly adminstration. - Enabled ot->flag OPTYPE_UNDO to work. - Removed all redundant ED_undo_pushes, but I'd recommend everyone to check it while testing. :) - Added view manipulations as OPTYPE_REGISTER, although this will flood the redo stack a bit... Nevertheless; for a "redo last action" panel we can simply check if both flags are set for redo. - Bugfix in editmode undo: selectmode was cleared, so you couldn't select after undo - Bugfix in mixing tweaks and keymaps... solution works but is weak, need to think over a while.
2009-01-29Animation Editors: Tweaking/Refresh IssuesJoshua Leung
* Added 'select-tweak' functionality to DopeSheet * Added proper notifiers for Graph Editor updates
2009-01-27Graph Editor - Selection Tools Joshua Leung
* Mouse-Select and DeSelect All work again * Added access to constraint 'influence' value
2009-01-262.5 DopeSheet/Action Editor Joshua Leung
* Made the various datatypes in the DopeSheet get shown again (NOTE: some of the types that don't get conversions to Animato yet may need some further checking). * Did some code cleanup to allow F-Curve channels to always show RNA-based names correctly
2009-01-20Animato - More work on Action Editor Joshua Leung
* Added back Auto Preview-Range tool (i.e. set preview-range from keyframe extents) * Restored delete keyframe tool. For now, this doesn't delete empty F-Curves, even though its keyframe-api counterpart still does. I still need to figure out how to do this in the best way. * Fixed crashes when selecting keyframes in 'object' summary channels * Removed prototypes for a few unused/depreceated functions...
2009-01-20Animato - Restoring most of Action Editor Joshua Leung
* Streamlined the filtering code to remove a few redundant options, which required tweaking the code for most tools * F-Curves are simply displayed using their full paths right now. This should eventually be the UI-string stored in RNA, but right now there are still a few missing things. * There are a few tools which are not available yet which were available in 2.5 before Animato was added: - Copy/Paste - Rearrange channels Also, the DopeSheet is not totally functional (in terms of displaying animation data for sub-object data yet). That will be added tomorrow. * Added 'Action Group' pointer to F-Curves, as it will be handy for allowing Bone channels to still remain grouped as they were before with the Action Channels. However, reintroducing such a structure to the data-storage is not anticipated...
2009-01-172.5: Blender "Animato" - New Animation System Joshua Leung
Finally, here is the basic (functional) prototype of the new animation system which will allow for the infamous "everything is animatable", and which also addresses several of the more serious shortcomings of the old system. Unfortunately, this will break old animation files (especially right now, as I haven't written the version patching code yet), however, this is for the future. Highlights of the new system: * Scrapped IPO-Curves/IPO/(Action+Constraint-Channels)/Action system, and replaced it with F-Curve/Action. - F-Curves (animators from other packages will feel at home with this name) replace IPO-Curves. - The 'new' Actions, act as the containers for F-Curves, so that they can be reused. They are therefore more akin to the old 'IPO' blocks, except they do not have the blocktype restriction, so you can store materials/texture/geometry F-Curves in the same Action as Object transforms, etc. * F-Curves use RNA-paths for Data Access, hence allowing "every" (where sensible/editable that is) user-accessible setting from RNA to be animated. * Drivers are no longer mixed with Animation Data, so rigs will not be that easily broken and several dependency problems can be eliminated. (NOTE: drivers haven't been hooked up yet, but the code is in place) * F-Curve modifier system allows useful 'large-scale' manipulation of F-Curve values, including (I've only included implemented ones here): envelope deform (similar to lattices to allow broad-scale reshaping of curves), curve generator (polynomial or py-expression), cycles (replacing the old cyclic extrapolation modes, giving more control over this). (NOTE: currently this cannot be tested, as there's not access to them, but the code is all in place) * NLA system with 'tracks' (i.e. layers), and multiple strips per track. (NOTE: NLA system is not yet functional, as it's only partially coded still) There are more nice things that I will be preparing some nice docs for soon, but for now, check for more details: http://lists.blender.org/pipermail/bf-taskforce25/2009-January/000260.html So, what currently works: * I've implemented two basic operators for the 3D-view only to Insert and Delete Keyframes. These are tempolary ones only that will be replaced in due course with 'proper' code. * Object Loc/Rot/Scale can be keyframed. Also, the colour of the 'active' material (Note: this should really be for nth material instead, but that doesn't work yet in RNA) can also be keyframed into the same datablock. * Standard animation refresh (i.e. animation resulting from NLA and Action evaluation) is now done completely separate from drivers before anything else is done after a frame change. Drivers are handled after this in a separate pass, as dictated by depsgraph flags, etc. Notes: * Drivers haven't been hooked up yet * Only objects and data directly linked to objects can be animated. * Depsgraph will need further tweaks. Currently, I've only made sure that it will update some things in the most basic cases (i.e. frame change). * Animation Editors are currently broken (in terms of editing stuff). This will be my next target (priority to get Dopesheet working first, then F-Curve editor - i.e. old IPO Editor) * I've had to put in large chunks of XXX sandboxing for old animation system code all around the place. This will be cleaned up in due course, as some places need special review. In particular, the particles and sequencer code have far too many manual calls to calculate + flush animation info, which is really bad (this is a 'please explain yourselves' call to Physics coders!).
2009-01-17RNABrecht Van Lommel
* Added more compact property definitions, with a single function. Only used by operators at the moment, would need to tweak regular expressions a bit more to use it also for other RNA definitions. * The operator properties defined now were completed a bit more but still have many issues that need to be adressed, specifically; * Some properties that should be booleans or enums are defined as ints, note that ints are only for numeric values, not bitflags or multiple choice. * Soft/hard limits and default values of many properties are not well defined still, * Inconsistent naming, especially for example mouse locations or bounds are named differently in different places. Also mouse locations and other vector like properties should become a single vector property instead of multiple X/Y properties. * Almost no properties have descriptions, these would be good to have for docs and tooltips. So, please verify that the properties of the operators you wrote are well defined.
2009-01-052.5 - Animation Fixes + More Porting work in Action EditorJoshua Leung
* Added crash fixes for loading old files with Actions/Armatures in them. Was caused by usage of some old globals still and the functions in question not performing NULL checks on the validity of the data they're given. * Added back reorganise action channels tools (shift/ctrl-shif pageup/down) for Action Editor. These are only available in 'Action Mode' only. * Tidied up Action Editor/Dopesheet tools code - removed various unused things, and also, added an API call in anim_deps.c to send the correct notifiers, since I anticipate that they're likely to require a few context checks which would be better to centralise than copy+paste everywhere. Note to Ton: could you have a look at this notifier stuff here? I'm not sure which ones I should be sending... * Also added a few assorted comments in various places
2009-01-052.5 - Various Cleanups/FixesJoshua Leung
* Animation channels - cleaned up the code for selecting channels (removed various TODO stuff that's going to be replaced by something better later). Also, added back the ctrl-shift select feature for groups, which should be extended for other channels too at some stage. * Outliner - added missing flags to do-versions, and replaced the width calculations with the rna-width version for now, as that uses constant width of 100 with OL_X*indention
2009-01-032.5 - Action Editor: IPO Curve Protect works nowJoshua Leung
* Added the relevant filtering necessary for this to work, into the animation-channel filtering code. * Updated most of the keyframe-editing tools to respect this * Renamed keyframe-editing API loopers (added ANIM_ prefix) for consistency * Added function for mapping keyframes to/from NLA-mapping for Ipo-Curves in addition to the one for IPO blocks. As a result, renamed the latter for consistency.
2009-01-022.5 - Silencing more MSVC warningsJoshua Leung
2009-01-022.5 Animation Channels - Borderselect Tool Joshua Leung
Added BorderSelect operator for animation channels.
2009-01-022.5 - Animation and View2D Joshua Leung
* Added back deselect all (and invert all) tools for Animation Channels (i.e. channel list in Action Editor). * Resolved all MSVC warnings (I came across) in View2d code. Also, added a new API method to get the coordinates (in 'view' space) of a listview 'cell' given the row + column the cell is in. * Tidied up a few comments here and there
2009-01-012.5 - Assorted bugfixesJoshua Leung
* Dopesheet - clicking on keyframes in Object channels (if they came from Object-Data such as Lamps, etc.) would crash. I noticed this error in AnimSys2 yesterday * Action Editor - do versions code now totally reinitialises the Action Editor View2D data (for the timespace), since I found a few files where there appeared to be some weird settings set. * RNA Browser (Outliner->Datablocks) would crash when the Area was ripped (using Alt-R hotkey) as seen in mfoxdogg's 2.5 Tour 2
2009-01-012.5:Joshua Leung
First commit for 2009! Started of porting of Animation Editor Channels stuff. This code will be used for both the Action and IPO editors, so any existing code involving this has now been moved to the Animation module. * Added mouse-click operator for this channels view. Note: the selection stuff currently uses temporary toggling code only (i.e. it only toggles the selection of the channels in the editor, but does not update status of rest of database). * Fixed bugs in View2D listview functions. Reduced the amount of code needed, and makes the code here simpler. * Renamed action_edit_keyframes.c to action_edit.c, since channels are not handled there anymore. * Dopesheet now refreshes correctly when object selection elsewhere changes.
2008-12-292.5 - Action Editor / Animation Stuff:Joshua Leung
* Brought back clean (OKEY), sample (Shift-OKEY), and delete (XKEY/DELKEY) tools for the Action Editor. Currently clean uses a predefined threshold (as a rna-prop, though it's still lacking the popup to set this when it is called) * Added new file for 'destructive' keyframe operations/tools. * Got keyframing.c compiling. Now, some of these tools need to be operatorised. Also, the API there might change when enough of the system is stable for RNA-IPO work to take place (so that it can be tested).
