* Split Info and User preferences into two separate spaces. * Renamed Buttons Window to Properties also in RNA identifiers.
2009-07-292.5 MetaBallsJiri Hnidek
- It is possible to work with MetaBalls in edit mode now - Added basic UI to the button window (feel free to change it :-)) - Header menus should work - Undo & redo should work - Removed global variable editelems and lastelem (moved it to the MetaBall struct) - All tools from old editmball.c was converted to the operators - Added lastelem to the RNA - Experimental: mb->editelems is only pointer at mb->elems or NULL (depends on Mode). ListBase of MetaElems is not duplicated in edit mode. Tested with scons at Linux and mac OS X TODO: - Recalc data after Undo or Redo - Solve issue with basic MetaBall and Python UI script (only base MetaBall object influence Wiresize and Threshold) - Fix orientation of manipulator in "Normal mode"
2009-07-21Initial code for boids v2Janne Karhu
Too many new features to list! But here are the biggies: - Boids can move on air and/or land, or climb a goal object. - Proper interaction with collision objects. * Closest collision object in negative z direction is considered as ground. * Other collision objects are obstacles and boids collide with them. - Boid behavior rules are now added to a dynamic list. * Many new rules and many still not implemented. * Different rule evaluation modes (fuzzy, random, average). - Only particle systems defined by per system "boid relations" are considered for simulation of that system. * This is in addition to the boids own system of course. * Relations define other systems as "neutral", "friend" or "enemy". - All effectors now effect boid physics, not boid brains. * This allows forcing boids somewhere. * Exception to this is new "boid" effector, which defines boid predators (positive strength) and goals (negative strength). Known issue: - Boid health isn't yet stored in pointcache so simulations with "fight" rule are not be read from cache properly. - Object/Group visualization object's animation is not played in "particle time". This is definately the wanted behavior, but isn't possible with the current state of dupliobject code. Other new features: - Particle systems can now be named separately from particle settings. * Default name for particle settings is now "ParticleSettings" instead of "PSys" - Per particle system list of particle effector weights. * Enables different effection strengths for particles from different particle systems with without messing around with effector group setting. Other code changes: - KDTree now supports range search as it's needed for new boids. - "Keyed particle targets" renamed as general "particle targets", as they're needed for boids too. (this might break some files saved with new keyed particles) Bug fixes: - Object & group visualizations didn't work. - Interpolating pointcache didn't do rotation.
2009-07-16Console Space TypeCampbell Barton
* interactive console python console. * display reports and filter types. defaults to operator display so you can see the python commands for tools as you use them, eventually it should be possible to select commands and make macto/tools from them. Example use of autocomp. b<tab>, bpy.<tab>, bpy.<tab>, bpy.data.<tab> etc. basic instructions are printed when opening the console. Details... * Console exec and autocomp are done with operators written in python. * added CTX_wm_reports() to get the global report list. * The window manager had a report ListBase but reports have their own struct, switched to allocate and assign when initializing the WM since the type is not available in DNA. * changed report types flags for easier display filtering. * added report type RPT_OPERATOR * logging operators also adds a python-syntax report into CTX_wm_reports() so they can be displayed in the console as well as calling a notifier for console to redraw. * RnaAPI context.area.tag_redraw() to redraw the current area from a python operator. Todo... * better interactions with the console, scrolling, copy/paste. * the text displayed doesnt load back. * colors need to be themed. * scroll limit needs to be a user pref. * only tested with cmake and scons.
2009-07-022.5: Physics ButtonsBrecht Van Lommel
All kinds of changes to get it ready for UI layouts. This means RNA and operators should be working correct, but most buttons are still not actually there yet. * Added near empty soft body, fluid, field and collision panels, tweaks to cloth panels. * Fluid bake works, but without escape or showing any progress. * Fluid/Softbody/Cloth/Collision can now be both added as modifiers or in the physics panels. * Missing: fields & soft body for particles. * Missing: proper updating softbodies, guess this code still needs updates after pointcache refactor?

2009-06-21Pointcache refresh part 1:Janne Karhu
* Particles support larger than 1 frame changes, bigger frame changes can result in inaccurate results, but it's super fast and you get a nice feeling of how the particles behave! * "Cache to current frame" button calculates the exact result of particles at current frame. * Current state of cache can be protected by making it a bake. * Cache is now in memory by default, disk cache is an option. * Only "viewport %" number of particles are calculated and cached in viewport, baking and rendering calculate all particles. * Info on cached frames and memory usage given in ui. * Support for exact "autocaching" of changes and large frame changes(disabled for now until exact place in event system is decided) * "Continue physics" is probably deprecated after this and should be removed once sb & cloth use the new cache code. Todo: * Make softbody & cloth use the new cache things. Other changes: * Some cleanup of particle buttons.

Added SpaceLogic, to restore the old logic buttons into. In future it can be used for a more advanced logic editor, with states, behaviour, whatever. We'll see! This commit only adds the backend for new space. Committed this now as reference for when we need another space type. It's still not well plugin-able (dynamic space types), but my idea is to just have a new SpacePlugIn for this, with a neat small API to define all relevant callbacks. Also note the icon for the spacetype is wrong still.
2009-02-202.5: Particle Edit, work in progress commit.Brecht Van Lommel
* Still incomplete and some operators don't work, refresh issues, etc. * Made Hide/Reveal operators consistent for various modes.
2009-02-202.5:Brecht Van Lommel
* Image painting back. 2d paint, 3d paint and projection, undo, pressure, repeating paint operations, etc should all work. Drawing cursor needs a bit of work, only gets shown when enabling texture paint mode now. * Move sculpt, image paint, and vertex/weight paint into a single sculpt_paint module. Doesn't make much difference now, but nice to have it together for better integration and consistency in the future.

Render back! And not only back, even full threaded now. :) Current state is unfinished, but too much fun to not to commit for review and test! WARNING: because render is in a threaded job, it will use data as can be edited in the UI. That'll crash in many cases of course... the idea is to limit UI usage to viewing stuff, especially for the Image Window to inspect layers or zoom in/out. What works now; - F12 render (no anim) - ESC from render - ESC pushes back temporary Image Window - Render to ImageWindow or full-screen. - Executing composites, and edit composites after render. Note that the UI is 100% responsive in a render, you can switch screens, slide area dividers around, or even load a new file during render. :) It's quite stable even. I'll collect all crash reports especially to get a good picture of where the protection is required at least. Also added: XKey "Delete Objects", to get things crash... unfortunately it didn't for me.

Preparing for volunteer to work on operatorifying armature code. Just new C file and calls to assign operators and keymaps.

Font object + editing back. Was quite some work due to a myriad of globals all over! Works nicely 100% local now. To enable a single textedit operator, I've added a new keymap entry KM_TEXTEDIT, which gives all keyboard events to the handler. Also had to add a new keymap-add function to force a keymap handler in beginning of region handlers. In future this can be used to prioritize handlers. Also: split off the arrow keys (frame change) to a separate region level handler. Can be set with default flag in regiontype->keymapflag ED_KEYMAP_FRAMES

View3D has been split now in a local part (RegionView3D) and a per-area part (old View3D). Currently local is: - view transform - camera zoom/offset - gpencil (todo) - custom clipping planes Rest is in Area still, like active camera, draw type, layers, localview, custom centers, around-settings, transform widget, gridlines, and so on (mostly stuff as available in header). To see it work; also added new feature for region split, press SHIFT+ALT+CTRL+S for four-split. The idea is to make a preset 4-split, configured to stick to top/right/front views for three views. Another cool idea to explore is to then box-clip all drawing based on these 3 views. Note about the code: - currently view3d still stores some depricated settings, to convert from older files. Not all settings are copied over though, like custom clip planes or the 'lock view to object'. - since some view3d ops are now on area level, the operators for it should keep track of that. Bugfix in transform: quat initialize in operator-invoke missed one zero. Als brought back GE to compile for missing Ipos and channels.
2009-01-152.5: Space Image ported backBrecht Van Lommel
Organized as follows: uvedit/ uv editing related code uvedit_draw.c: drawing code uvedit_ops.c: operators, just a few done uvedit_unwrap_ops.c: will be operators for unwrapping uvedit_paramatrizer.c: lscm/abf/stretch/pack space_image/ space_image.c: registration and common getter/setters image_draw.c: drawing code, mostly functional image_panels.c: panels, all commented out image_render.c: render callbacks, non functional image_ops.c: operators, only view navigation done image_header.c: header, menus mostly done but missing buttons Notes: * Header menus consist only of Operator and RNA buttons, if they are not implemented they're displayed grayed out. Ideally the full header could work like this, but std_libbuttons looks problematic. * Started using view2d code more than the old code, but for now it still does own view2d management due to some very specific requirements that the image window has. The drawing code however is more clear hopefully, it only uses view2d, and there is no switching between 'p' and 'f' view2d's anymore, it is always 'f'. * In order to make uvedit operators more independent I move some image space settings to scene toolsettings, and the current image and its buffer is in the context. Especially sync selection and select mode belonged there anyway as this cannot work correct with different spaces having different settings anyway. * Image paint is not back yet, did not want to put that together with uvedit because there's really no code sharing.. perhaps vertex paint, image paint and sculpt would be good to have in one module to share brush code, partial redraw, etc better.

A small round of warning cleanups; unused variables, missing headers and some const types.
2009-01-13More sculpt work. Very very basic sculpt operators implemented, one for ↵Nicholas Bishop
toggling the mode, the other for the brush. This just allows entering sculptmode and drawing using a simple brush. (Note the operator is still modal, no exec yet.)
2009-01-102.5Ton Roosendaal
Added custom data pointer to custom region_draw_cb Also removed the test with green rect.
2009-01-092.5Ton Roosendaal
New: Custom region draw callbacks. For Martin: an example is now in space_view3d/view3d_edit.c On middlemouse rotate view, it draws a small square in center. It works likes this: #include "ED_space_api.h" handle= ED_region_draw_cb_activate(region->type, drawfunc, type) and to stop it: ED_region_draw_cb_exit(region->type, handle) drawfunc is of type (const bContext *C, ARegion *ar) currently it gets called only as type REGION_DRAW_POST, later we can add more (PRE, POST_XRAY, POST_2D, etc). For correct usage, these calls should return leaving view transform unaltered.

- Edit mode Mesh undo/redo back (undo for editmodes needed recode, todo for curve/lattice/etc) - Added border select for edit mesh - Added Akey (de)select all for edit mesh - Added notifiers for mode changes. This is also the first trial to dynamically add/remove keymap handlers, based on modes. For that reason the Object keymap was split in 2, modal and non-modal. On TABkey, the view3d listener removes and adds maps. The view3d keymap still handles generic mouse/border selection. Internally it will verify modes. The modes are not re-implemented still... have to move this to scene context.

First commit for 2009! Started of porting of Animation Editor Channels stuff. This code will be used for both the Action and IPO editors, so any existing code involving this has now been moved to the Animation module. * Added mouse-click operator for this channels view. Note: the selection stuff currently uses temporary toggling code only (i.e. it only toggles the selection of the channels in the editor, but does not update status of rest of database). * Fixed bugs in View2D listview functions. Reduced the amount of code needed, and makes the code here simpler. * Renamed action_edit_keyframes.c to action_edit.c, since channels are not handled there anymore. * Dopesheet now refreshes correctly when object selection elsewhere changes.

Blender builds and links on Linux. For now without BGE and its player, but that will come. Priorities are still a mess, so expect more commits soon.

Object: converted the old horrible editobject.c, now as file: editors/object/object_edit.c Still lots of WIP, I've operatorified "Make Parent". Check here the new API at work: http://pasteall.org/3650/c IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BRECHT: game property defines were clashing with RNA, i've renamed game defines for now.
2008-12-222.5Ton Roosendaal
Small area/space api fix: space->new() callbacks now require Context pointer. Too many cases you want to initialize stuff... Also: added dummy draw function for NLA channel region, was too ugly.
2008-12-212.5 - Time operations to Animation ModuleJoshua Leung
Moved time_ops.c contents to anim_ops.c, as the operators there are applicable to all other Animation Editors too. anim_ops.c will therefore contain all operators which will apply to all Animation Editors (i.e. change frame, frames/seconds display toggle, and soon Preview Range tools). As such, added new global 'Animation' keymap like for View2D and Markers, which will ensure that these tools can be accessed in an uniform way across editors. Note that the order that these things are added is important, as the Animation ones will often 'steal' events from the View2D and Markers ones if placed before the others. To prevent that, we'd need to be able to set boundboxes here...

Context API This adds the context API as described here. The main practical change now is that C is not longer directly accessible but has to be accessed through accessor functions. This basically adds the implementation of the API and adaption of existing code with some minor changes. The next task of course is to actually use this design to cleanup of bad level calls and global access, in blenkernel, blenloader. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/Context Error, Warning and Debug Info Reporting This adds the error reporting API as described here. It should help clean up error() calls in non-ui code, but eventually can become used for gathering messages for a console window, and throwing exceptions in python scripts when an error happens executing something. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/Reports

Basics for the remaining 6 spacetypes. Note: Andrea prefers to merge SpaceImaSel with SpaceFile for that I'll provide a good readfile.c patch later
2008-12-142.5Andrea Weikert
Skeleton for bringing back SpaceFile. Code to initialize the SpaceFile struct missing still, I think this is the right time to cleanup there :)
2008-12-142.5Ton Roosendaal
The basics for InfoSpace. Also added InfoSpace data to area by default, older files allowed to have nothing here (space empty). (prevents reported crasher in switching space info to others). Also: added ifdeffed code in readfile.c to debug missing memory frees from data read from files. (instead of "data from SCR" it will print the actual struct names).
2008-12-132.5Ton Roosendaal
Added basics for oour precious Buttons Window. The one that will be (OH NO!) vertical one day? ;)
2008-12-132.5Ton Roosendaal
The basics for Node Space.... no complaints sofar :)
2008-12-132.5Ton Roosendaal
Added basic code for Space Image. Now let's check if this commit has all it needed :)
2008-12-122.5Ton Roosendaal
- Added rudimentary support for Ipo window (Joshua can check on view2d issues for this? :) - removed ED_area.h, added ED_space_api.h

Resolved cyclic calls for editors. Now there's a space_api/ module, here you can use functions calling other editor modules. The functions in the module are only used by the WindowManager module to initialize space types. Note for sconzers and MSVC and cmake: the proper linking order for editors is: - space_api - space_xxx - object / mesh / transform / etc - interface - util / datafiles - screen
