2021-11-20Cleanup: Use canonical variable nameHans Goudey
All `ARegion` variables should be called `region` unless there is a good reason not to, since that is the convention.
2021-11-13BLF: Use Floats for Font Point SizesHarley Acheson

2021-11-02Images: refactor how failed image load attempts are rememberedJacques Lucke
Previously, `ImageTile->ok` and `ImageUser->ok` were used to indicate whether an image failed to load. There were three possible values which (probably) had the following meanings: * `0`: There was an error while loading the image. Don't try to load again. * `1`: Default value. Try to load the image. * `2`: The image was loaded successfully. This image-wide flag did not make sense unfortunately, because loading may work for some frames of an image sequence but not for others. Remember than an image data block can also contain a movie. The purpose of the `->ok` flag was to serve as an optimization to avoid trying to load a file over and over again when there is an error (e.g. the file does not exist or is invalid). To get the optimization back, the patch is changing `MovieCache` so that it can also cache failed load attempts. As a consequence, `ibuf` is allowed to be `NULL` in a few more places. I added the appropriate null checks. This also solves issues when image sequences are used with the Image Texture node in Geometry nodes (also see D12827). 2021-10-20Cleanup: use an array for wmEvent cursor position variablesAaron Carlisle
Use arrays for wmEvent coordinates, this quiets warnings with GCC11. - `x, y` -> `xy`. - `prevx, prevy` -> `prev_xy`. - `prevclickx, prevclicky` -> `prev_click_xy`. There is still some cleanup such as using `copy_v2_v2_int()`, this can be done separately. Reviewed By: campbellbarton, Severin Ref D12901

2021-10-08Fix wrong Cycles tile highlight with region renderSergey Sharybin

2021-09-29UV Editor: Grid and snapping improvementsSiddhartha Jejurkar
Implements T89789, T89792, custom grid (described as dynamic grid in T78389) and UV grid snapping (T78391) Replaces the default UV editor grid with 2 new types of grid : * Custom grid: Allows the user to create an NxN grid, where the value of N is specified by the user. * Subdividing grid: Subdivides the UV editor grid when the user zooms in the viewport and vice versa when zooming out. UV snapping improvements : * Increment snapping: Increment values for snapping are calculated based on which grid type is being used in the UV editor (subdividing or custom). In general the increment value is equal to the distance between 2 visible grid lines. * Absolute grid snap: New toggle added to increment snapping option in the UV editor, allows UV grid snapping during translation. 2021-08-24Render: Lazily allocate render passes pixels storageSergey Sharybin
The idea is to only allocate pixel storage only when there is an actual data to be written to them. This moves the code forward a better support of high-res rendering when pixel storage is not allocated until render engine is ready to provide pixel data. Is expected to be no functional changes for neither users no external engines. The only difference is that the motion and depth passes will be displayed as transparent for until render engine provides any tile result (at which point the pixels will be allocated and initialized to infinite depth). 2021-08-23RNA: add length augmented to RNA_string_get_allocCampbell Barton

2021-08-18UDIM: Support tile sets that do not start at 1001Jesse Yurkovich
Removes the artificial requirement that UDIM tile sets start at 1001. Blender was already capable of handling sparse tile sets (non-contiguous tiles) so the restriction around starting at 1001 was unnecessary in general. This required fixing a few UDIM-related python bugs around manually updating the `tile_number` field on images as well. See the differential for details. No script changes are necessary but they will now work, correctly, in many more cases. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D11859
2021-08-17UDIM: Fix tile number calculation when adding a range of image tilesJesse Yurkovich
When adding a range of tiles, the operator could incorrectly calculate the end_tile. It would not account for the start_tile itself and the IMA_UDIM_MAX value was 1 too small. This is most noticeable when attempting to fill the entire supported range of tiles. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D11857

2021-08-02WindowManager: Support Dynamic tooltips when dragging.Jeroen Bakker
Originally the operator name was drawn next to the dragging content. After that there was an option to add custom, static text with the dragging content. This patch allows dynamic text to be drawn. The custom text was implemented as out parameter of the poll function what made the code unclear. This patch introduces a tooltip function that separates tooltip generation from the poll function. NOTE: the text should always be returned in its own memory block. This block will be freed after it is copied in the drag struct. In most cases the undo system was loading undo steps twice. This was needed since some undo systems (sculpt, paint, text) require stepping out of the current undo step. 2021-05-27Fix incorrect BLI_snprintf usageCampbell Barton
Event though in practice this wasn't causing problems as the fixed size buffers are generally large enough not to truncate text. Using the result from `snprint` or `BLI_snprintf` to step over a fixed size buffer allows for buffer overruns as the returned value is the size needed to copy the entire string, not the number of bytes copied. Building strings using this convention with multiple calls: ofs += BLI_snprintf(str + ofs, str_len_max - ofs); .. caused the size argument to become negative, wrapping it to a large value when cast to the unsigned argument.

2021-03-16Compositor: Redesign Cryptomatte node for better usabilityJeroen Bakker
In the current implementation, cryptomatte passes are connected to the node and elements are picked by using the eyedropper tool on a special pick channel. This design has two disadvantages - both connecting all passes individually and always having to switch to the picker channel are tedious. With the new design, the user selects the RenderLayer or Image from which the Cryptomatte layers are directly loaded (the type of pass is determined by an enum). This allows the node to automatically detect all relevant passes. Then, when using the eyedropper tool, the operator looks up the selected coordinates from the picked Image, Node backdrop or Clip and reads the picked object directly from the Renderlayer/Image, therefore allowing to pick in any context (e.g. by clicking on the Combined pass in the Image Viewer). The sampled color is looked up in the metadata and the actual name is stored in the cryptomatte node. This also allows to remove a hash by just removing the name from the matte id. Technically there is some loss of flexibility because the Cryptomatte pass inputs can no longer be connected to other nodes, but since any compositing done on them is likely to break the Cryptomatte system anyways, this isn't really a concern in practise. In the future, this would also allow to automatically translate values to names by looking up the value in the associated metadata of the input, or to get a better visualization of overlapping areas in the Pick output since we could blend colors now that the output doesn't have to contain the exact value. 2021-02-16Assets: Remove appended asset when dropping operation failsJulian Eisel
When dropping an asset somewhere, it is appended and then a drop operation is called to actually add it to the scene based on current context. If this drop operation fails, the appended data-block is now still in the .blend. The user may not notice and not expect this. Instead idea is to rollback any changes done by dropping code if the operation fails, namely removing the appended data-block again. Adds a new `cancel()` callback which is called if the drop operator returns `OPERATOR_CANCELLED` to drop-boxes and a generic function to deal with assets on drop failure. Also removes the `free_id_on_error` property of the `NODE_OT_add_group` operator, which was used as ad-hoc solution to get this same behavior.
