* Split Info and User preferences into two separate spaces. * Renamed Buttons Window to Properties also in RNA identifiers.
2009-07-302.5: Buttons ViewBrecht Van Lommel
* When resizing the window, the top position is now preserved, instead of the center position. * Fix zoom level not being preserved in various cases, when changing both with and height. This replaces some earlier code which did this at screen level but wasn't very reliable. * Different tabs now each preserve their own scroll. * When switching between tabs, it now scrolls to show as many buttons as possible, instead of possibly showing empty space. There is a trade-off here between doing that keeping the buttons in the same place, no ideal solution exists I think. * Change zooming in/out to be symmetric, for example doing numpad + then - did not give the original zoom level back. * Added some calls to avoid hanging tooltips when manipulating the view. Internals: * Added V2D_KEEPOFS_X and V2D_KEEPOFS_Y to keep the top/bottom rather than the center. * Renamed V2D_KEEPZOOM to V2D_LIMITZOOM (seems more appropriate), and make V2D_KEEPZOOM preserve the zoom level.
2009-07-282.5: File browserBrecht Van Lommel
* Side panels now use list widgets. * Enabled theme colors for side panel. * Add button in bookmarks panel. * Operator panel title now uses operator name. * For unix, added / to system, and home and desktop to bookmarks. * For opening fileselect with filter, cleaned up the code a bit, adding WM_operator_properties_filesel instead of duplicating code. * Also added filter for all operators calling fileselect, only image and file open did it before. * Hide . files by default, and also hide files ending with ~. * Added back .. (but not .) in the file list, I really missed this. * File highlight now only happens when you're actually over a file, instead staying after you move the mouse away. * Fix some redraw/refresh issues.
2009-07-152.5: User PreferencesBrecht Van Lommel
* Added basic infrastructure to layout user preferences. The intention is that you open a user preferences space in place of the buttons space, and have panels there. * The existing sections don't have to be followed, it's easy to create different ones, just change the user_pref_sections enum in RNA. * This will get separated from the info header later.
2009-06-302.5Brecht Van Lommel
Image Window * Unpack operator now works. * Some small layout code tweaks. Info Window Header * Moved to python UI code. * template_running_jobs, template_operator_search added. * Ported external data operators: pack/unpack all, make paths relative/absolute, find/report missing files. Also * Report RPT_INFO too, not only warnings and errors. * Run UI handle functions after RNA and Operators. * Rename particle system add/remove operators, to not include "slot", that's only there for materials because that's what they are called now in RNA.

Search Menu: added feature that on opening, it shows the current ID block, and selects it. Same can be used for other searches, just pass on pointer to active item for the search callback. Also fixed arrow triangle draw for search.
2009-06-242.5Ton Roosendaal
Added support for icons in search menu. It already displays icons for saved materials etc. from old files. Have to add previewrenders for this still.

* removed radiosity render code, DNA and RNA (left in radio render pass options), we'll get GI to replace this probably, better allow baking to vertex colors for people who used this. * removed deprecated solid physics library, sumo integrations and qhull, a dependency * removed ODE, was no longer being build or supported * remove BEOS and AMIGA defines and references in Makefiles.

Bugfix: Icons were drawing on wrong subpixel positions, distorting badly. Now it's crispy and tasty! Noticed there's a magnifier icon already, using it for the search option.

Further work on new "text search" button. - Now allows to browse items (mouse, arrow key) - Assigns active value - Uses different backdrop to distinguish from popup menus - Cleaned API for it, so it can be used nicely generic Also added a search menu, which shows all currently working operators: CTRL+ALT+F. (mind the looks, it needs some tweaks!) To make a menu activating a button I've added a new event... could use some tweaks. Important note: the callback to pass on "old string" for text button (bone rename) couldn't work yet, added first code for new callback, but has to be worked on further. When bone rename gets added it can be tested.
2009-06-022.5Ton Roosendaal
Part one of new text button type: SEARCH_MENU This opens a popup showing all matches for a typed string, nice for object names, materials, operators, and so on. Warning: Currently menu doesn't function yet! Only draws choices. As test I've added an operator search button in top bar. It only shows operators that can be used in this context now. Also that is part of the WIP, tomorrow more fun :)
2009-05-29UI:Brecht Van Lommel
* Added some properties of uiLayout that can be set. I've added some API code for more than the two I've implementeds, so ignore those for now. * layout.active = False will gray out buttons inside a layout. * layout.enabled = False will gray out and completely disable the buttons inside a layout. * Also some function renames.

Animation playback back in control. And non-blocking still! - Play follows the "Playback" options in TimeLine menu. Only the region 'windows' are drawn, not headers, toolbars, channel views, etc. The option "Buttons Window" also redraws property regions. - The Timeline header always redraws, this to denote at least progressing frame numbers - For now: if you choose to play 3D views, it also redraws the TimeLine. Seems to be good convention, but probably better to add menu option for it? - Fun test: while playback, change Playback options, works OK! - New: top header button shows animation play status, and allows to stop playback - New: Animation stop/start operator. Assigned to ALT+A. It has no options yet; just plays active region + all 3D windows now. Options will follow, based on reviews. Also ESC won't work for now, just press ALT+A again.

* Headers and menus can now be created in python. * Replaced the uiMenuItem functions to create menus with equivalent uiItem functions using a layout, removing duplicated code. * More uiItem functions are now exposed to python. * The text editor header, panels and one of its menus are now created in space_text.py. * Buttons window data context icon new changes depending on active object. Issues * Icons are not wrapped yet, hardcoded ints at the moment. * The ID browse template is unfinished.

- Fun for testers: Added "Redo Operator" Panel in view3d 'nkey' region. It's going to be part of tools UI I know, but this will give good tests of what goes on with operators. I had to add small fixes in Transform for it already. :) One important issue to note is that it lists every operator, also from non-3D-window ops. Needs checked or classified somehow. - Fix: removed bad 2.4x hack from how pulldown menus were defined. Made widget code cleaner, and will show menus like SHIFT+A correct now.
2009-04-142.5Ton Roosendaal
More cleanup! - removed old UI font completely, including from uiBeginBlock - emboss hints for uiBlock only have three types now; Regular, Pulldown, or "Nothing" (only icon/text) - removed old font path from Userdef - removed all old button theme hinting - removed old "auto block" to merge buttons in groups (was only in use for radiosity buttons) And went over all warnings. One hooray for make giving clean output :) Well, we need uniform definitions for warnings, so people at least fix them... here's the real bad bugs I found: - in mesh code, a call to editmesh mixed *em and *me - in armature, ED_util.h was not included, so no warnings for wrong call to ED_undo_push() - The extern Py api .h was not included in the bpy_interface.c, showing a several calls using different args. Further just added the missing includes, and removed unused vars.

Various ui fixes: - panel drawing now correctly follows scaled view - made imagewindow buttons using TH_PANEL color back (was too dark) - click on open/close panel was wrong - menu items disabling now draws correct - curve/hsv widgets didn't draw on right locations - numsliders have nicer interior slider decoration - new type TOGBUT to enforce old style toggle button (not new type 'option button' with checkmark - (temp) disabled live updating while using Curve widget, was too slow to be fun. Needs general solution :)
2009-03-19ContextBrecht Van Lommel
* Made it based on string lookups rather than fixed enum, to make it extensible by python scripts. * Context callbacks now also have to specify RNA type when returning pointers or collections. For non-RNA wrapped data, UnknownType can be used. * RNA wrapped context. The WM entries are fixed, for data context only main and scene are defined properties. Other data entries have to be dynamically looked up. * I've added some special code in python for the dynamic context lookups. Tried to hide it behind RNA but didn't find a clean way to do it yet. Still unused/untested. * Also minor fix for warning about propertional edit property in transform code, and fix for usage of operator poll with checking if it was NULL.
2009-03-182.50: svn merge https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/trunk/blender ↵Brecht Van Lommel
-r18677:19317 Notes: * Sequence transform strip uses G.scene global, this is commented out now, should be fixed. * Etch-a-ton code was most difficult to merge. The files already in 2.5 got merged, but no new files were added. Calls to these files are commented out with "XXX etch-a-ton". editarmature.c and transform_snap.c were complex to merge. Martin, please check? * Game engine compiles and links again here for scons/make/cmake (player still fails to link).
2009-03-09* fun 2.5 UI commit from seoul airport!Matt Ebb
A few UI goodies from on the plane: - fixed the sliders for non-rounded themes - Made properties with rna subtype of 'percentage' automatically display a '%' character *after* the numerical value, where it belongs. It would also be really great to add a ° - degree symbol after angle and perhaps rotation subtypes. This works fine with international fonts but not with oldskool bitmap fonts (not part of ascii). I wonder if there's a way to get around this? - Added nice embossing effects on buttons, labels and pulldowns (there you go, brecht :) - and cooler looking tooltips And did some work on the file browser. Andrea, I hope this is ok, let me know if there are problems and I can work on fixing it up :) - added some new icons for file types, that are now shown in list view. icon designers, please feel free to update and make nicer ones! - tweaked the default colour theme and did some graphical fiddling to make the various views look nicer - rearranged the buttons on the header and swapped the 'P' button for an up arrow button, this needs a nicer icon too. - added outliner style alternating bands to the list view to see info grouping better. This has a small prob in columns view though, can fix that.

2009-03-012.5: Text Editor back.Brecht Van Lommel
There was very little structure in this code, using many globals and duplicated code. Now it should be better structured. Most things should work, the main parts that are not back yet are the python plugins and markers. Notes: * Blenfont is used for drawing the text, nicely anti-aliased. * A monospace truetype font was added, since that is needed for the text editor. It's Bitstream Vera Sans Mono. This is the default gnome terminal font, but it doesn't fit entirely well with the other font I think, can be changed easily of course. * Clipboard copy/cut/paste now always uses the system clipboard, the code for the own cut buffer was removed. * The interface buttons should support copy/cut/paste again now as well. * WM_clipboard_text_get/WM_clipboard_text_set were added to the windowmanager code. * Find panel is now a kind of second header, instead of a panel. This needs especially a way to start editing the text field immediately on open still. * Operators are independent of the actual space when possible, was a bit of puzzling but got it solved nice with notifiers, and some lazy init for syntax highlight in the drawing code. * RNA was created for the text editor space and used for buttons. * Operators: * New, Open, Reload, Save, Save As, Make Internal * Run Script, Refresh Pyconstraints * Copy, Cut, Paste * Convert Whitespace, Uncomment, Comment, Indent, Unindent * Line Break, Insert * Next Marker, Previous Marker, Clear All Markers, Mark All * Select Line, Select All * Jump, Move, Move Select, Delete, Toggle Overwrite * Scroll, Scroll Bar, Set Cursor, Line Number * Find and Replace, Find, Replace, Find Set Selected, Replace Set Selected * To 3D Object * Resolve Conflict

2009-02-194 new function, boundbox, width, height and rotation.Diego Borghetti
The rotation is through glRotatef and as you can see it's ugly, the freetype2 allow apply a transformation (2x2 mat) to the glyph before load, so I want to try using that. Another thing to add is the 4x4 mat to get the scale and size from there.. but I need commit this now to continue from my home.
2009-02-182.5Ton Roosendaal
Several things in one commit; could not split this up easily, one job invoked another, and so on. :) - Added pulldowns for save/load .blend file in top bar. - To enable "Save" without further popups (save over) I've added a signaling function in window header to indicate a succesful save. - On any undo push it now signals 'file changed'. This goes by notifiers nicely, but now registers only the undopushes, which is quite unreliable. "Changed" state shows in header as "Blender*" and for OSX with the standard close button black dot. - Made screencast show a button in top bar indicating such, and allowing quit. No hotkey for quit yet... but ESC will keep casting now. - Fixed new BLF_init(), which should be in WM_init() and not on any .B.blend read. - Fixed CTRL+F3 "Save Screenshot", which was still using old fileselect code.

I change the #if 0 with #if WITH_FREETYPE2, also fix a lot of typos, etc. This is the basic but now it draw text!!, I am using the "User Preference" space to test the library, nobody is working on that and the option are in the outliner now so... TODO-next: using the 4x4 mat, string size, bounding box, aspect and rotate. Notes: I update the Makefile, missing some include and other things so maybe scons, cmake and msvc also need update ?

Scene browse button now works. Note that animsys currently executes animation for the entire database, so multiple scenes in multiple windows don't work yet. Various fixes: - crash on invoking filewindow when mouse outside (active) window - removed obsolete error prints (set screen error, copy data error) - displist fix for loading files with curve/nurbs, the select-outline then didnt draw immediately. - outliner allows scene activating
2009-02-072.5Ton Roosendaal
- Screen browse button back - Several fixes in using screens in more windows. Still has loose ends, but things are definitely more stable!
2009-02-042.5Ton Roosendaal
Render back! And not only back, even full threaded now. :) Current state is unfinished, but too much fun to not to commit for review and test! WARNING: because render is in a threaded job, it will use data as can be edited in the UI. That'll crash in many cases of course... the idea is to limit UI usage to viewing stuff, especially for the Image Window to inspect layers or zoom in/out. What works now; - F12 render (no anim) - ESC from render - ESC pushes back temporary Image Window - Render to ImageWindow or full-screen. - Executing composites, and edit composites after render. Note that the UI is 100% responsive in a render, you can switch screens, slide area dividers around, or even load a new file during render. :) It's quite stable even. I'll collect all crash reports especially to get a good picture of where the protection is required at least. Also added: XKey "Delete Objects", to get things crash... unfortunately it didn't for me.
2009-01-302.5: UI & MenusBrecht Van Lommel
* Cleaned up UI_interface.h a bit, and added some comments to organize things a bit and indicate what should be used when. * uiMenu* functions can now be used to create menus for headers too, this is done with a uiDefMenuBut, which takes a pointer to a uiMenuCreateFunc, that will then call uiMenu* functions. * Renamed uiMenuBegin/End to uiPupMenuBegin/End, as these are specific to making popup menus. Will convert the other conformation popup menu functions to use this too so we can remove some code. * Extended uiMenu functions, now there is is also: BooleanO, FloatO, BooleanR, EnumR, LevelEnumR, Separator. * Converted image window headers to use uiMenu functions, simplifies menu code further here. Did not remove the uiDefMenu functions as they are used in sequencer/view3d in some places now (will fix). * Also tried to simplify and fix bounds computation a bit better for popup menus. It tried to find out in advance what the size of the menu was but this is difficult with keymap strings in there, now uiPopupBoundsBlock can figure this out afterwards and ensure the popup is within the window bounds. Will convert some other functions to use this too.
2008-12-26UI: PanelsBrecht Van Lommel
* API and usage is basically the same still. * Panels were moved to region level. I first thought of keeping them at area level, but having them at region level it's simpler to handle events and do drawing, and also to integrate with view2d. They can still become area level overlapping regions, if we make a floating (or docked) region that can contain panels. * Added back a few panels from the scene buttons for testing. Issues still: * The view2d handling and alignment refresh of panels is not correct yet in the buttons window. * I did not yet bring back the block handlers system. It was basically a system that stored which panel was open and where the events for that panel would go. Just a few functions, but not sure how it fits in 2.5. * There was a case where dragging panels would not properly remove the window level handler, but could not redo anymore even though I don't think I fixed it. * Some text in the panels goes past the end of the button, that is due to the checkmark button drawing, not related to this commit. Other UI code changes: * Renamed interface.h to interface_intern.h for consistency. * Fixed some issues with freeing of blocks when they changed due to context. * uiDrawBlock now takes a context pointer (mostly for block drawextra).

New priorities for most libs, at least core. This is still for Blender proper, BGE and such still to come.
2008-12-232.5 / SConsNathan Letwory
Blender builds and links on Linux. For now without BGE and its player, but that will come. Priorities are still a mess, so expect more commits soon.

Small area/space api fix: space->new() callbacks now require Context pointer. Too many cases you want to initialize stuff... Also: added dummy draw function for NLA channel region, was too ugly.
2008-12-192.5Ton Roosendaal
Compile fix; MAXFLOAT is not defined uniformly on platforms. Note for the coders: ED_types.h: has editor wide defines and structs ED_util.h: has editor wide functions Both includes also are containing old cruft to get things to compile (and work), for later cleanup.
2008-12-182.5Brecht Van Lommel
Context API This adds the context API as described here. The main practical change now is that C is not longer directly accessible but has to be accessed through accessor functions. This basically adds the implementation of the API and adaption of existing code with some minor changes. The next task of course is to actually use this design to cleanup of bad level calls and global access, in blenkernel, blenloader. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/Context Error, Warning and Debug Info Reporting This adds the error reporting API as described here. It should help clean up error() calls in non-ui code, but eventually can become used for gathering messages for a console window, and throwing exceptions in python scripts when an error happens executing something. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/Blender2.5/Reports
2008-12-17View2D: Cleanup of presets and fixed errors in various viewsJoshua Leung
Now, preset view configurations are only to be used if they define all (scrollers not included) relevant settings for the view they are set for. This should be less confusing than in the previous situation with V2D_COMMONVIEW_TIMELINE stuff. One implication of this though, is that all Animation Editors (for example), will have to define their own version of the relatively commonly shared info. However, given the great diversity in the range of settings each have, this should not be too much of an issue. Also, added a 'standard' view config for main 'window' regions. At this stage, it is recommended that this view config should be used only as a placeholder template on which a set of custom settings could be based. I've put it into use for the buttons window/scripts window/info window so far.
2008-12-16View2D: Presets for Initialising ViewsJoshua Leung
Improved the View2D API so that initialising View2D data in init() callbacks (called on new regions and also on resizing regions) for regions is easier. Added a few preset view configurations for use when initialising new views. Views with the V2D_IS_INITIALISED flag set will not be reinitialised in the init() callbacks. Currently, some of these configurations will set/override all settings (like V2D_COMMONVIEW_LIST and V2D_COMMONVIEW_HEADER), while other ones serve a more supplimentary role (i.e. V2D_COMMONVIEW_TIMELINE only sets the x-axis settings, relying on the region to have already set the relevant y-axis settings). The future of such supplimentary configurations is yet to be seen, as I'm currently not sure whether they will cause the code to become too confusing, as you'd have to keep track of which settings belong/are set where. So far, only a few areas have been ported to use this. Tomorrow I'll check on a few more. As this commit touches a lot of files, hopefully there aren't any critical bugs I've missed here.

- depricated area "headbutofs" and "headbutlen", which is now fully replaced with view2d handling. - needed to add header default V2D_ALIGN_NO_NEG_Y, V2D_LOCKOFS_Y seems to not do anything atm :) - new: running blender in debug (blender -d) will print the current handler and operator in use (not mousemove)
2008-12-142.5Ton Roosendaal
- Added file space (too) :) Andrea was first, this is more complete. - Suggestion from Joshua: move all standard header buttons to 1 function, makes it all easier, less code, and less area/space stuff needs to be exposed.
2008-12-142.5Ton Roosendaal
The basics for InfoSpace. Also added InfoSpace data to area by default, older files allowed to have nothing here (space empty). (prevents reported crasher in switching space info to others). Also: added ifdeffed code in readfile.c to debug missing memory frees from data read from files. (instead of "data from SCR" it will print the actual struct names).
