2014-05-05Code Cleanup: Remove old deprecated NLA channel drawing codeJoshua Leung
2014-05-05NLA Editor: Second part of porting NLA Action channel to standard drawing systemJoshua Leung
This now works (barring one or two minor glitches and the operator on the pushdown button being a bit of a hack). The old drawing code is still in place though, and will be kept around for a little while yet while the last kinks are ironed out.
2014-05-05NLA Editor Drawing: Set up AnimChannelType callbacks for drawing NLA EditorJoshua Leung
This commit lays some of the groundwork needed to port the last of the NLA Editor channel types that's still defined using custom code. By moving this code over to the newer standardised framework, this will enable widgets to have tooltips to make it easier for users to find out what various buttons do. Currently this isn't hooked up to anything though.

2014-05-04NLA Editor: Display "tweaking action" status indicator icon in place of ↵Joshua Leung
action-type icon Instead of displaying the "tweaking action" status indicator icon on the right hand side jammed against the mapping/no-mapping toggle (pin), this is now displayed as in place of the action icon used on the left (as the type indicator). This is less messy than the previous situation, which was needed partly due to the abuse of an unsuited icon.
2014-05-04NLA Editor: Added dedicated icons for "pushdown" operator and for indicating ↵Joshua Leung
the "tweaking" state 1) The "pushdown" operation is the actual name for the functionality previously represented by the snowflake. That is, pushing the active action onto the NLA stack as a new strip. The icon that is introduced here is the icon I originally wanted to use here for this purpose (but couldn't at the time the NLA was coded as we didn't have the master SVG available yet). I'm making this change now to hopefully make the "animation-layers" intentions behind the NLA design a lot clearer than they have been so far. 2) Also added a dedicated icon for representing that the active action is in the "tweaking" state (i.e. we're editing a particular strip's action). Previously we were abusing an icon designed for an entirely different purpose, mainly since its identifier looked like it would work.
2014-04-30Code cleanup: remove unused includesCampbell Barton
Opted to keep includes if they are used indirectly (even if removing is possible).

2014-04-17Viewport Text Drawing: replace single allocs with a memarenaCampbell Barton
- pass label strlen since in many cases its already known. - use single linked list for cached text drawing. - add BLI_link_utils.h for single linked list macros. own tests give approx 22% overall speedup.

2013-11-20NLA Channel Drawing Refactor: Remove rest of old drawing code for NLA Track ↵Joshua Leung
channels NLA Track drawing has now been ported over to use the UI widgets like the rest of the anim channels do in the DopeSheet and Graph Editors. The main benefit of this for users is that these buttons will now show tooltips when you hover over them. Hopefully this will help make the "solo" buttons more discoverable. I've decided to postpone porting the "Action Line" channels to the widget system for now, since there are quite a few more issues there which need quite a bit more time to work through.

2013-07-21code cleanup: add break statements in switch ()'s, (even at the last case).Campbell Barton
2013-07-19style cleanup: switch statements, include break statements within braces & ↵Campbell Barton
indent. also indent case's within the switch (we already did both of these almost everywhere)
2013-05-08code cleanup: remove references to BLI_rand.hCampbell Barton
2013-03-14use BLI_strncpy_rlen() rather then BLI_snprintf() when no formatting is needed.Campbell Barton
also replace sprintf with strcpy when no formatting is done.
2013-03-14Bugfix: Selecting AnimData "expanders" in AnimEditors works againJoshua Leung
Somewhere along the line, this functionality broke, even though the code to handle these settings was still in place for many of these. The main implication of this fix is that it should now be possible to select a particular AnimData block, which makes it possible to do things such as changing the action associated with that AnimData block (i.e. via the "Animation Data" panel in the NLA Editor), as well as other operations which I've had on the todolist for a while. Stay tuned!

2012-12-13code cleanup: quiet warningsCampbell Barton
2012-12-12Holiday coding log :)Ton Roosendaal
Nice formatted version (pictures soon): http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.66/Usability Short list of main changes: - Transparent region option (over main region), added code to blend in/out such panels. - Min size window now 640 x 480 - Fixed DPI for ui - lots of cleanup and changes everywhere. Icon image need correct size still, layer-in-use icon needs remake. - Macbook retina support, use command line --no-native-pixels to disable it - Timeline Marker label was drawing wrong - Trackpad and magic mouse: supports zoom (hold ctrl) - Fix for splash position: removed ghost function and made window size update after creation immediate - Fast undo buffer save now adds UI as well. Could be checked for regular file save even... Quit.blend and temp file saving use this now. - Dixed filename in window on reading quit.blend or temp saves, and they now add a warning in window title: "(Recovered)" - New Userpref option "Keep Session" - this always saves quit.blend, and loads on start. This allows keeping UI and data without actual saves, until you actually save. When you load startup.blend and quit, it recognises the quit.blend as a startup (no file name in header) - Added 3D view copy/paste buffers (selected objects). Shortcuts ctrl-c, ctrl-v (OSX, cmd-c, cmd-v). Coded partial file saving for it. Could be used for other purposes. Todo: use OS clipboards. - User preferences (themes, keymaps, user settings) now can be saved as a separate file. Old option is called "Save Startup File" the new one "Save User Settings". To visualise this difference, the 'save startup file' button has been removed from user preferences window. That option is available as CTRL+U and in File menu still. - OSX: fixed bug that stopped giving mouse events outside window. This also fixes "Continuous Grab" for OSX. (error since 2009)
2012-11-04code cleanup: quiet -Wdouble-promotion, disabled this warnings for a few ↵Campbell Barton

2012-06-04Theme Colors for NLA Strips and DopeSheet SummaryJoshua Leung
* NLA Strip colors are now themable * Changed the "Active Action"/"Summary" colors to be a bit more muted. The new colors are now closer to those for keyframes, though they are still different enough to be clearly distinguishable. * Removed some colors wihch don't seem to be used (from NLA theme colors) * Added function to get theme colors + alpha as floats

2012-01-11use BLI_strncpy and BLI_snprintf when the size of the string is known.Campbell Barton
fix for sequencer unique naming which was missed with string length update.
2012-01-11minor cleanup for string use - no functional changesCampbell Barton
- use more logical names for strings, noticed too many strings called `str` when reviewing name patch. - pass __func__ macro to uiBeginBlock(), quite a few names were wrong (copy/paste error).
2011-09-11replace magic numbers for flags for uiSetRoundBox();Campbell Barton
2011-08-30Fixes for snprintf usage:Brecht Van Lommel
* replace by BLI_snprintf in various places, note _snprintf on windows does not properly null terminate the string. * fix overflow in sequencer proxy code due to buffer being smaller than specified size. * fix some usage of snprintf as strcpy, this is will go wrong if the string contains % characters. * remove BLI_dynstr_printf function in gpu module, use BLI_dynstr_appendf

2011-08-07Sound clip NLA Strips for NexyonJoshua Leung
These are basically just for specifying when a speaker should fire off it's soundclip, and as such, many NLA operations are irrelevant for it. They can only be specified on object-level for speaker objects. I've still got some UI tweaks I'll need to work on in order for these to be able to be added even when the speaker doesn't have any NLA tracks yet. (EDIT: while typing this, I had an idea for how to do this, but that'll be for next commit). In the mean time, you'll need to add a single keyframe for the object, snowflake that action and delete the NLA strip before you can start editing.
2011-08-03Animation channels can now be renamed by Ctrl-Clicking on them, as inJoshua Leung
the Outliner Channels which can be renamed include: - Scenes, Objects, World, Material, Texture, etc. (i.e. "ID-blocks", or the dark and light blue channels) - Action Groups (green channels) - Action expanders (i.e. "CubeAction", "WorldAction", etc.) - Grease Pencil stuff Channels which CANNOT be renamed, as they mostly use hardcoded values or otherwise include: - Drivers expander - FCurves (they don't technically have a "name"; what is shown is just a user-friendly representation of their rna_paths)
2011-07-12NLA Drawing - More prominent communication of the "solo" featureJoshua Leung
* When a track is being solo'd, all other channels for that block are drawn darker * Strips in non-solo tracks are drawn flat shaded instead of with shading * Mute toggles are hidden (they wouldn't affect the result)
2011-07-12NLA Drawing Tweak - New icons for "solo" togglesJoshua Leung
Added some new star icons for the "solo" toggles in NLA editor. Unfortunately they look a tad scruffy alongside some of the other icons, although they should hopefully turn out to be more descriptive (especially when combined with some drawing tweaks I've got in the pipeline...)
2011-07-06NLA Drawing - When "Show Control Curves" option in View menu isJoshua Leung
disabled, the strips are drawn so that they take up less vertical space. Originally, the primary reason why these were taller than those in the other animation editors was really so that these control curves could be visualised adequately. So, when these aren't shown, we can afford to collapse the strips vertically. This should make it possible to fit more strips on screen to retime them. in some staggered fashion.
2011-07-05Reduce duplicate codeJoshua Leung
2011-07-01NLA Strip Drawing TweaksJoshua Leung
* Removed frame-number display from NLA strips. Indeed doing so makes things look cleaner/easier to identify. * When transforming NLA strips, the "temp-metas" (purple strips) get their frame extents drawn on either end, like in the sequencer, which seems to be easier to read than the ones inside the strips. --- The downside of this tweak is that there is no longer any visual feedback for which strips run reversed instead of forwards, as that used to be shown using the frame extents stuff.
2011-06-30Some tweaks to naming of channels in animation editors - thanks MattJoshua Leung
* F-Curves no longer show the name of the datablock of the property they affect if this is an ID-block. For example, transform curves for a cube won't get the "... (Cube)" suffix anymore. In these cases, it's relatively clear that these belong to the parent datablock, so doing this should be fine (and reduces clutter). However, for non-id data (i.e. subsurf modifier settings) or bones, this info still gets shown. In these cases, there is some ambiguity. * "ActiveAct: <...>" is no longer shown for NLA action channels (i.e. just the name of the action gets shown). This should make it easier to see at a glance what action is being used.
