2022-04-14Keymap: restore key-shortcut to remove from local-viewCampbell Barton
Use Alt-Slash to remove objects from local-view (was M prior to [0]), following the convention of using Alt to perform the reverse of an action. Also remove the confirmation menu as this key as it can be undone and it's not likely to be pressed by accident. This can be useful to quickly subtract items from a complex selection with items that only become visible when entering local-view. The M key was originally used in 2.4x since moving between layers wasn't possible. Now moving between collections is possible in local-view the keys collided. 2022-03-29LibOverride: Massive edits to 'editable' IDs checks in editors code.Bastien Montagne
Add new `BKE_id_is_editable` helper in `BKE_lib_id.h`, that supercedes previous check (simple `ID_IS_LINKED()` macro) for many editing cases. This allows to also take into account 'system override' (aka non-editable override) case. Ref: {T95707}.
2022-02-11File headers: SPDX License migrationCampbell Barton
Use a shorter/simpler license convention, stops the header taking so much space. Follow the SPDX license specification: https://spdx.org/licenses - C/C++/objc/objc++ - Python - Shell Scripts - CMake, GNUmakefile While most of the source tree has been included - `./extern/` was left out. - `./intern/cycles` & `./intern/atomic` are also excluded because they use different header conventions. doc/license/SPDX-license-identifiers.txt has been added to list SPDX all used identifiers. See P2788 for the script that automated these edits. Reviewed By: brecht, mont29, sergey Ref D14069
2022-02-03Cleanup: Split View3D navigation code into specific compilation unitsGermano Cavalcante
The view3d_edit.c file is already getting big (5436 lines) and mixes operators of different uses. Splitting the code makes it easier to read and simplifies the implementation of new features. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D13976
2022-02-02Cleanup: skip redundant steps when the selection buffer is cachedCampbell Barton
The viewport theme loaded and virtual modifiers allocated unnecessary.
2022-01-31Cleanup: use struct for GPU the select bufferCampbell Barton
GPU_select originally used GL_SELECT which defined the format for storing the selection result. Now this is no longer the case, define our own struct - making the code easier to follow: - Avoid having to deal with arrays in both `uint*` and `uint(*)[4]` multiplying offsets by 4 in some cases & not others. - No magic numbers for the offsets of depth & selection-ID. - No need to allocate unused members to match GL_SELECT (halving the buffer size).
2022-01-31Cleanup: use enum type for selection mode & internal algorithm enumCampbell Barton
2021-12-08Fix T91680: viewport selection broken in macOS x86 build with Xcode 13Brecht Van Lommel
There is an apparent compiler bug here, tweak the code to avoid it. This did not affect official builds as we were still using Xcode 12.

2021-10-26XR: View adjustments for variable viewer scalePeter Kim
This adjusts some calculations and visibility flags for XR viewports in order to account for a possible scale factor in the XR view matrix. This scale factor can be introduced via the XR session settings base scale, which allows a viewer to begin their session at a specific reference scale, or the XR session state navigation scale, which allows a viewer to adjust their scale relative to the reference scale during the session. Reviewed by Severin as part of D11501, but requested to be committed separately.
2021-09-12Cleanup: early return from smoothview when the view is unchangedCampbell Barton
2021-09-09Fix smooth-view failure to add mouse-move eventsCampbell Barton
View operations that left the cursor over a gizmo were not being updated because the mouse-move event was added while the view was animated instead of once the animation had completed. Mouse-move events were also missing when smooth-view was disabled. This fixes a glitch with the 3D view navigation gizmo where multiple clicks on the view aligned axis failed to switch to the opposite side unless the user moved the cursor between clicks.
2021-09-08Asset: Dropping Material assets on material slot under mouse cursor.Jeroen Bakker
This patch allows dropping material assets from material slot under the mouse cursor. Before this change the material slot had to be hand-picked from the properties panel. For consistency it is chosen to do this in any shading mode as the tooltip shows what is exactly going to happen during release. The feature also works for other object types than Meshes as it uses the drawn surface on the GPU to detect the material slots. Performance of this patch has been tested with AMD GCN3.0 cards and are very responsive. Reviewed By: fclem, Severin Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D12190

2021-06-16UI - LOCAL View3D overlay statsHarley Acheson
This patch improves the 3DView statistics overlay to show LOCAL stats while in local view. This means the stats can vary between 3DViews and the statusbar when views are in local view, but this gives a much more accurate count of the objects, and their components, that you are directly working with rather than just scene values. 2020-12-14UI/Assets: Support generating object preview imagesJulian Eisel
Object previews are really helpful for visual data-block selection, like asset browsing. Having them be generative should also be quite handy and should work well enough in many, if not most cases. What this does is simple: * Place the object (actually a deep copy of it, for thread safety) in a virtual .blend into an empty scene/view-layer. * Add a camera, point it towards the front of the object, assuming that means pointing towards its +Y axis. * Use "Camera Fit Frame to Selected" logic to put the object into frame. * Create a threaded off-screen render. Of course, such an automatic preview will not work in all situations. E.g. it currently does a bad job capturing a single plane. We could add options for more advanced automatic previews, but probably custom previews is more important, which I committed already (812ea9184221). Part of the first Asset Browser milestone. 2020-03-17VR: Initial Virtual Reality support - Milestone 1, Scene InspectionJulian Eisel
NOTE: While most of the milestone 1 goals are there, a few smaller features and improvements are still to be done. Big picture of this milestone: Initial, OpenXR-based virtual reality support for users and foundation for advanced use cases. Maniphest Task: https://developer.blender.org/T71347 The tasks contains more information about this milestone. To be clear: This is not a feature rich VR implementation, it's focused on the initial scene inspection use case. We intentionally focused on that, further features like controller support are part of the next milestone. - How to use? Instructions on how to use this are here: https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/User:Severin/GSoC-2019/How_to_Test These will be updated and moved to a more official place (likely the manual) soon. Currently Windows Mixed Reality and Oculus devices are usable. Valve/HTC headsets don't support the OpenXR standard yet and hence, do not work with this implementation. --------------- This is the C-side implementation of the features added for initial VR support as per milestone 1. A "VR Scene Inspection" Add-on will be committed separately, to expose the VR functionality in the UI. It also adds some further features for milestone 1, namely a landmarking system (stored view locations in the VR space) Main additions/features: * Support for rendering viewports to an HMD, with good performance. * Option to sync the VR view perspective with a fully interactive, regular 3D View (VR-Mirror). * Option to disable positional tracking. Keeps the current position (calculated based on the VR eye center pose) when enabled while a VR session is running. * Some regular viewport settings for the VR view * RNA/Python-API to query and set VR session state information. * WM-XR: Layer tying Ghost-XR to the Blender specific APIs/data * wmSurface API: drawable, non-window container (manages Ghost-OpenGL and GPU context) * DNA/RNA for management of VR session settings * `--debug-xr` and `--debug-xr-time` commandline options * Utility batch & config file for using the Oculus runtime on Windows. * Most VR data is runtime only. The exception is user settings which are saved to files (`XrSessionSettings`). * VR support can be disabled through the `WITH_XR_OPENXR` compiler flag. For architecture and code documentation, see https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Source/Interface/XR. --------------- A few thank you's: * A huge shoutout to Ray Molenkamp for his help during the project - it would have not been that successful without him! * Sebastian Koenig and Simeon Conzendorf for testing and feedback! * The reviewers, especially Brecht Van Lommel! * Dalai Felinto for pushing and managing me to get this done ;) * The OpenXR working group for providing an open standard. I think we're the first bigger application to adopt OpenXR. Congratulations to them and ourselves :) This project started as a Google Summer of Code 2019 project - "Core Support of Virtual Reality Headsets through OpenXR" (see https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/User:Severin/GSoC-2019/).
