2011-10-30Fix for stroke rendering instability with stroke geometry shaders.Tamito Kajiyama
* Stroke::Resample(int nPoints) was not properly working when a wrong value was returned from Stroke::getLength2D(), resulting in repeated warning messages "Warning: incorrect points number" during stroke rendering. The main cause was that stroke geometry shaders did not update the two-dimensional (2D) length (also referred to as curvilinear abscissa) after they modified the 2D points of stroke vertices. Now all stroke geometry shaders make explicit calls for Stroke::UpdateLength() that has been introduced for recomputing the 2D length. Many thanks to Josef who reported the problem together with sample .blend files for reproducing the issue. * Missing Python wrapper of Stroke::getLength2D() was added.
2011-10-06Fine control of feature edge selection with mesh face and edge marks.Tamito Kajiyama
New "face marks" and "edge marks" have been introduced in mesh data blocks. In the edit mode of a mesh object, face marks can be put to selected faces by choosing Mesh >> Faces >> Mark Freestyle Face from the menu of a 3D View window or Ctrl-F >> Mark Freestyle Face from the context menu. Similarly, edge marks can be put to selected edges by Mesh >> Edges >> Mark Freestyle Edge or Ctrl-E >> Mark Freestyle Edge. These marks should work fine with the Subdivision surface modifier. Moreover, two new conditions for feature edge selection have been added to the Parameter Editor mode as described below: 1. The Selection by Edge Types option has now the new Edge Mark type, which can be used to (de)select feature edges having edge marks. This option can be used to add to (or remove from) the view map arbitrary edges of mesh objects. 2. Selection by Face Marks option has been newly introduced, in which face marks are used for feature edge selection in two ways. One option is called "One Face" which is to (de)select feature edges if one of faces on the left and right of each feature edge has a face mark. The other option is "Both Faces" to (de)select feature edges if both faces on the left and right have a face mark.

(http://freestyle.sourceforge.net/doc/html/index.html) has been incorporated into the Blender/Freestyle Python API implementation in the form of Sphinx-based embedded docstrings. Some C++-specific descriptions of classes and functions were revised so that they are suitable for Python programmers. Missing docstrings were filled, and sparse descriptions were extended. By means of the new documentation system for Blender, an up-to-date Freestyle Python API reference will be part of the Blender 2.5 documentation.

All of the reference to the original Material class were renamed to FrsMaterial to resolve a name collision with Blender. To keep the window context necessary to draw the strokes after RE_Database_FromScene has been called, the display_clear function is used.

classes, except EdgeModifier and TimestampModifier (which aren't even ported via SWIG), are available under the Blender.Freestyle module. Testing of the porting will now begin to make sure the SWIG-less system works as the original. Quite a few modifications were made to finish the API: - Freestyle's SConscript was modified to catch all files within the intern/python directory, allowing integration of future shaders implemented in C++. - the Operators class was ported, with a special care of making its methods static (using the METH_STATIC flag in the tp_methods method definitions) - all of the type-checking functions [ BPy_[class name]_Check(obj) ] were changed to allow subclasses to be seen as that type too: instead on looking at the ob_type value, the PyObject_IsInstance function is used. - all of the iterators can now retrieve the object pointed to by the operator, using the getObject() method. A directedViewEdge pair is returned as a list of the two elements in the pair. - all of the style modules were copied to a style_modules_blender/ folder and were modified to use Freestyle as a Blender's submodule. IntegrationType and MediumType was also integrated (for example, changing MEAN to IntegrationType.MEAN). Testing now begins. If everything works correctly, I'll move on to lib3ds removal right away.

So far, whenever a Python object is created from its corresponding C++ object, the input object reference is copied into a new object. Due to Freestyle's functions (especially regarding the way it is iterated), it is currently impossible to deal with a pointer-based Python object. It is not a real drawback, just an aspect to keep in mind.

migration. Stabilized a lot of the code for C++ -> Python conversion. Added the correct rich comparison operator and tested it. Corrected 'dupplicate' typo and changde to __copy__ for Python API. From now on, when a set should be output (PySet_Type), it is given as a list (PyList_Type). The reason is that it doesn't really matter what we bring back to the Python interpreter. The set is guaranteed in memory on the C++ side. For the CurvePoint class, the userdata variable is not yet ported (and will probably available as a list or a dictionary). The CurvePoint implementation works except for the initialization from other CurvePoints: somehow, the inner variables don't seem to be correctly handled. I do not know if it is a bug in Freestyle or if the CurvePoint object's state is correct for my test case. CurvePoint needs more testing.
