2012-10-22Patch #27397: Improved DPX/Cineon codeSergey Sharybin
Patch by Julien Enche, thanks! From the patch comment: It allows Blender to load: - 1, 8, 10, 12 and 16 bits files. For 10 and 12 bits files, packed or filled type A/B are supported. - RGB, Log, Luma and YCbCr colorspaces. - Big and little endian storage. - Multi-elements (planar) storage. It allows Blender to save : - 8, 10, 12 and 16 bits file. For 10 and 12 bits files, the most used type A padding is used. - RGB and Log colorspaces (Cineon can only be saved in Log colorspace). For Log colorspace, the common default values are used for gamma, reference black and reference white (respectively 1.7, 95 and 685 for 10 bits files). - Saved DPX/Cineon files now match the viewer. Some files won't load (mostly because I haven't seen any of them): - Compressed files - 32 and 64 bits files - Image orientation information are not taken in account. Here too, I haven't seen any file that was not top-bottom/left-right oriented.

2012-09-15Color Management, Stage 2: Switch color pipeline to use OpenColorIOSergey Sharybin
Replace old color pipeline which was supporting linear/sRGB color spaces only with OpenColorIO-based pipeline. This introduces two configurable color spaces: - Input color space for images and movie clips. This space is used to convert images/movies from color space in which file is saved to Blender's linear space (for float images, byte images are not internally converted, only input space is stored for such images and used later). This setting could be found in image/clip data block settings. - Display color space which defines space in which particular display is working. This settings could be found in scene's Color Management panel. When render result is being displayed on the screen, apart from converting image to display space, some additional conversions could happen. This conversions are: - View, which defines tone curve applying before display transformation. These are different ways to view the image on the same display device. For example it could be used to emulate film view on sRGB display. - Exposure affects on image exposure before tone map is applied. - Gamma is post-display gamma correction, could be used to match particular display gamma. - RGB curves are user-defined curves which are applying before display transformation, could be used for different purposes. All this settings by default are only applying on render result and does not affect on other images. If some particular image needs to be affected by this transformation, "View as Render" setting of image data block should be set to truth. Movie clips are always affected by all display transformations. This commit also introduces configurable color space in which sequencer is working. This setting could be found in scene's Color Management panel and it should be used if such stuff as grading needs to be done in color space different from sRGB (i.e. when Film view on sRGB display is use, using VD16 space as sequencer's internal space would make grading working in space which is close to the space using for display). Some technical notes: - Image buffer's float buffer is now always in linear space, even if it was created from 16bit byte images. - Space of byte buffer is stored in image buffer's rect_colorspace property. - Profile of image buffer was removed since it's not longer meaningful. - OpenGL and GLSL is supposed to always work in sRGB space. It is possible to support other spaces, but it's quite large project which isn't so much important. - Legacy Color Management option disabled is emulated by using None display. It could have some regressions, but there's no clear way to avoid them. - If OpenColorIO is disabled on build time, it should make blender behaving in the same way as previous release with color management enabled. More details could be found at this page (more details would be added soon): http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.64/Color_Management -- Thanks to Xavier Thomas, Lukas Toene for initial work on OpenColorIO integration and to Brecht van Lommel for some further development and code/ usecase review!
2012-03-20Adds support for utf paths on Windows.Alexander Kuznetsov
Not all file formats/calls are supported yet. It will be expended. Please from now on use BLI_fopen, BLI_* for file manipulations. For non-windows systems BLI_fopen just calls fopen. For Windows, the utf-8 string is translated to utf-16 string in order to call UTF version of the function.
2012-03-01Fix for Multilayer EXR API. This was using implementation stubs directly in ↵Lukas Toenne
the header file, causing problems with scons in particular.

2011-10-24MovieCache implementationSergey Sharybin
Implementation of cache for general movie-related areas such as sequencer and clip editor (in the future) Some changes in limiter were necessary: - Limiter counted mapped memory twice when was checking how many memory is used. - It was using "global" memory usage not memory usage by cached elements. It will cause big problems when there's large mesh or plenty of undo steps are in memory nothing would be cached in sequencer. - To solve this problem introduced "callback" to measure cached element size. It could be not very accurate in general, but it works well for image buffers. And if this callback isn't set old-school memory usage check would be used. - The whole cache used to get freed when memory limit exceeded, now it'll drop only as much elements as necessary to reduce memory usage. Seqcache is switched to use this new cache code.

This patch adds: * support for proxy building again (missing feature from Blender 2.49) additionally to the way, Blender 2.49 worked, you can select several strips at once and make Blender build proxies in the background (using the job system) Also a new thing: movie proxies are now build into AVI files, and the proxy system is moved into ImBuf-library, so that other parts of blender can also benefit from it. * Timecode support: to fix seeking issues with files, that have a) varying frame rates b) very large GOP lengths c) are broken inbetween d) use different time code tracks the proxy builder can now also build timecode indices, which are used (optionally) for seeking. For the first time, it is possible, to do frame exact seeking on all file types. * Support for different video-streams in one video file (can be selected in sequencer, other parts of blender can also use it, but UI has to be added accordingly) * IMPORTANT: this patch *requires* ffmpeg 0.7 or newer, since older versions don't support the pkt_pts field, that is essential for building timecode indices. Windows and Mac libs are already updated, Linux-users have to build their own ffmpeg verions until distros keep up.

blender_add_lib now takes a separate include argument to suppress warnings in system includes (mostly ffmpeg & python). also only build wm_apple.c on apple+carbon configuration.
2011-05-28include ffmpeg_compat header in cmake source list.Campbell Barton
2011-05-28== FFMPEG ==Peter Schlaile
Added central compatibility header file, which enables blender to compile against very old ffmpeg versions as well as very new versions using the *NEW* API. (Old API functions are simulated using macros and inline functions) Added a whole lot of additional checks, tested against 6 different versions down the timeline, hopefully, now finally all is well.

2011-02-21I swear, it was just an innocence change in guardedalloc!Nathan Letwory
The butterfly wing flap, causing a nice storm in the rest of blender. Now all dependencies should point ok again. CMakers, do double-test.
2011-01-25use cmake defined names for jpeg, png, zlib and python libs, building on ↵Campbell Barton
*nix with non-standard libjpeg/png/zlib locations was broken. in the case of python this makes it easier to move to find_package(PythonLibs) when 3.x is supported.

2010-12-08use lowercase for cmake builtin names and macros, remove contents in else() ↵Campbell Barton

2010-11-30Add option for CMake to build libredcode, also use CODEC prefix for ffmpeg, ↵Campbell Barton
quicktime & sndfile options.
2010-11-29include headers in cmake source, added a script to check for consistency, ↵Campbell Barton
reporting missing headers & C files. this is important so IDE's using CMake integration always get blender headers. - QtCreator & MSVC for eg, probably others too.
2010-11-21- include pthreads for win32 globally (as with opengl).Campbell Barton
- MSVC CFLAGS were being set by only checking WIN32, (breaking non-msvc win32 builds)
2010-10-23use explicit file paths for CMake rather then globing, This is recommended ↵Campbell Barton
by cmake devs. globbing vs explicit is discussed here. http://www.cmake.org/pipermail/cmake/2008-December/025694.html Practical implications are: - developers need to keep CMakeLists.txt files up to date. - Users wont get strange linking errors if they build after a file is added, since CMake detects CMakeLists.txt is modified and automatically reconfigure.
2010-09-18warning fixes and minor cmake changes.Campbell Barton
2010-09-07- added back zlib include (needed for win32).Campbell Barton
- use list append in more places. - remove non existing include dir.
2010-08-03build options to disable image formats WITH_CINEON, WITH_HDR.Campbell Barton
- updated cmake, make & scons. - renamed CMake build options WITH_TIFF -> WITH_IMAGE_TIFF, same for DDS, OPENJPEG etc.

function for ID drobdowns (currently unused)
2010-05-21libtiff working on linux & cmake again.Campbell Barton
2010-05-21Blender TIFF supportMatt Ebb
* Removed dynamic linking libTIFF code and change it to static linking (built into the blender executable). Dynamic linking made things a fair bit more complicated and wasn't working at all before on OS X - the dylib didn't exist and wasn't being copied. Since TIFF is more heavily depended upon now in Blender, it makes sense to make it less 'optional' and more in line with other libraries. I've updated both CMake and scons, and CMake on OS X/64bit works fine. It's now up to other platform/build system maintainers to enable this for their respective platforms (Campbell will check it for linux). For windows, and non-64bit osx, we need static libtiff libraries in /lib. I've added options WITH_TIFF for CMake and WITH_BF_TIFF for scons, so if blender won't build because of this, you should be able to disable these options until your build system has been updated. * Bonus feature: while doing this, I added support for loading 16bit and 32bit per channel TIFFs - they get converted to Blender's float buffers. Handy for zbrush displacement maps!
2010-05-08CMake + MSVC building fix (PTHREADS_INC needed in imbuf)Dalai Felinto
again, I know that the header shouldnt' be included there. But since it's still there at least let's make it build.

2009-11-02Mac / COCOA : Damien Plisson
- revert tiff load/save to use standard libtiff (to ensure 100% colorimetry & alpha interpretation across platforms) - include patch #18720 to fix load of libtiff dynlib (if present on system)
2009-10-29Mac / COCOA : ImbufDamien Plisson
- replace libtiff by calls to Cocoa services to load/save tiff files (Libtiff, dynamically linked is not distributed with OS X, and would have had to be shipped for all four architectures) The imb_cocoaLoadImage & imb_cocoaSaveImage are generic towards the bitmap format, and thus can handle TIFF, GIF, JPG, JP2000, BMP and raw camera formats (read-only for these), even if today only TIFF is used as the other formats are already handled. - CMake updated - scons updated (Thx to Jens Verwiebe)
2009-09-06white space commit. (2 spaces -> tab).Campbell Barton
Was annoying to use a different editor for cmake only. theeth says this should be ok with gsoc and merges from branches.

2009-03-182.50: svn merge https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/trunk/blender ↵Brecht Van Lommel
-r18677:19317 Notes: * Sequence transform strip uses G.scene global, this is commented out now, should be fixed. * Etch-a-ton code was most difficult to merge. The files already in 2.5 got merged, but no new files were added. Calls to these files are commented out with "XXX etch-a-ton". editarmature.c and transform_snap.c were complex to merge. Martin, please check? * Game engine compiles and links again here for scons/make/cmake (player still fails to link).
2009-03-06Addes jpeg2000 support to cmake.Kent Mein
I also did some small tweaks. removed ifdef's for pluginapi didn't need them there. Fixed it so the filesel shows jp2 as image files. (I'm going to do makefiles next) Kent
