2022-03-25ImBuf: Add support for WebP image formatAaron Carlisle
Currently only supports single image frames (no animation possible). If quality slider is set to 100 then lossless compression will be used, otherwise lossy compression is used. Gives about 35% reduction of filesize save when re-saving splash screens with lossless compression. Also saves much faster, up to 15x faster than PNG with a better compression ratio as a plus. Follow the SPDX license specification: https://spdx.org/licenses - C/C++/objc/objc++ - Python - Shell Scripts - CMake, GNUmakefile While most of the source tree has been included - `./extern/` was left out. - `./intern/cycles` & `./intern/atomic` are also excluded because they use different header conventions. doc/license/SPDX-license-identifiers.txt has been added to list SPDX all used identifiers. This adds the `Half Float Precision` option in the image property panel. This option is only available on float textures and is enabled by default. Adding a flag inside the imbuf (IB_halffloat) on load is done for EXR and PSD formats that can store half floating point (16bits/channels). The option is then not displayed in this case and forced. This also replaces the Use Alpha setting. We now have these alpha modes: * Straight: store RGB and alpha channels separately with alpha acting as a mask, also known as unassociated alpha. * Premultiplied: transparent RGB pixels are multiplied by the alpha channel. The natural format for renders. * Channel Packed: different images are packed in the RGB and alpha channels, and they should not influence each other. Channel packing is commonly used by game engines to save memory. * None: ignore alpha channel from the file and make image fully opaque. Cycles OSL does not correctly support Channel Packed and None yet, we are missing fine control over the OpenImageIO texture cache to do that. Fixes T53672

2014-01-13Fix T38040: Crash after loading big image file in compositorSergey Sharybin
Issue was caused by cache limitor removing viewer image buffer from the memory during compositing. Now made it so all viewer images are persistent in the memory. This solves the crash mentioned above and also makes it so render/compo results are never lost. Further tweaks are possible, but pretty much happy now, at least no stoppers for work are there.

We now support the combined layer of Photoshop files (stored as layer 0 in the file). This way users can keep their files as multilayer PSD and Blender always handle them as flat images. For perfect alpha this requires an OpenImageIO update: https://github.com/OpenImageIO/oiio/commit/342cc2633ff590a3bb278481c61ae798c7148361 Photoshop sample files: https://github.com/OpenImageIO/oiio-images Brecht has some pending fixes to push for OIIO as well, so we may as well wait to update our libraries. What works: =========== * 8bit images (with or without alpha) * 16bits images (alpha discarded) * Photoshop files saved with 'Maximum Compatibility' * Cycles, Blender internal, BGE (and player) Known limitations (due to OIIO dependency): ========================= * Images with less than 4 channels show a wrong thumbnail (bug may be in OIIO) * Packed images are not supported * We do not write PSD files. Note: old Blenders have support for PSD via Quicktime library. But due to license issues this was discontinued. Implemented as a rcti stored in ImBuf which is getting merged with partial rect passed to IMB_partial_display_buffer_update_delayed. This makes painting as fast as it currently possible and finally solves #33935: Texture painting slow down with mouse, but not with tablet
