Would be replaced with movie cache soon.
|
|
Implementation of cache for general movie-related areas
such as sequencer and clip editor (in the future)
Some changes in limiter were necessary:
- Limiter counted mapped memory twice when was checking how many memory is used.
- It was using "global" memory usage not memory usage by cached elements.
It will cause big problems when there's large mesh or plenty of undo steps are
in memory nothing would be cached in sequencer.
- To solve this problem introduced "callback" to measure cached element size.
It could be not very accurate in general, but it works well for image buffers.
And if this callback isn't set old-school memory usage check would be used.
- The whole cache used to get freed when memory limit exceeded, now it'll drop only
as much elements as necessary to reduce memory usage.
Seqcache is switched to use this new cache code.

This patch adds:
* support for proxy building again (missing feature from Blender 2.49)
additionally to the way, Blender 2.49 worked, you can select several
strips at once and make Blender build proxies in the background (using
the job system)
Also a new thing: movie proxies are now build into AVI files, and
the proxy system is moved into ImBuf-library, so that other parts
of blender can also benefit from it.
* Timecode support: to fix seeking issues with files, that have
a) varying frame rates
b) very large GOP lengths
c) are broken inbetween
d) use different time code tracks
the proxy builder can now also build timecode indices, which are
used (optionally) for seeking.
For the first time, it is possible, to do frame exact seeking on
all file types.
* Support for different video-streams in one video file (can be
selected in sequencer, other parts of blender can also use it,
but UI has to be added accordingly)
* IMPORTANT: this patch *requires* ffmpeg 0.7 or newer, since
older versions don't support the pkt_pts field, that is essential
for building timecode indices.
Windows and Mac libs are already updated, Linux-users have to build
their own ffmpeg verions until distros keep up.

- fix mistake with grease pencil UI (&& was intended but & used).
- use (void) rather then () across _all_ blenders code.
- a few minor edits, don't shadow stack variables in roll calculation & avoid running memset() for VBO vertex map.

Adding a byte rect to float ImBuf was always freeing the mipmap levels.
Removed this convention since it crashes renders + image texture draw.
Proper ownership handling of ImBuf is high on the wish list :)
|
|
Three code fixes for 1 report. User experienced crashes while
painting on float buffer + having preview renders on.
- Texture Nodes: Image was re-allocated without using
proper thread lock
- Paint code: old convention to free the byte rect from
a float image as signal to re-create now is a proper
flag. This keeps image memory unchanged. Nice for render.
- Imbuf: call to make a byte rect from float was freeing
mipmaps unnecessary.
|
|
- fixed bug in paste material, exposed by stricter warnings.
- removed/renamed various shadowed vars.
- removed BGE lamp.colour, only allow lamp.color attribute.
|
|
- removed deprecated bitmap arg from IMB_allocImBuf (plugins will need updating).
- mostly tagged UNUSED() since some of these functions look like they may need to have the arguments used later.
|
|
size rather then short.
also check if jpeg fails to allocate an imbuf.
|
|
all image formats should be able to load files bigger then 2gig (when its supported)
|
|
- remove MEM_guardedalloc.h from header files (include directly)
|
|
in image editor
notes,
- Use our own callback which doesnt exit() blender.
- Hard coded 'MONOSCNR.ICM' is bad, should this be a user preference or stored per image?
- imb->crect was being set to imb->rect in some cases, disable this because its possible 'rect' gets reallocated and crect becomes freed memory.
- when crect cant be created draw pink checkers, so users dont get confused if color correction isnt working. (previously would draw the uncorrected image, if it didnt crash)

tile cache code in imbuf, but it is not hooked up to the render engine.
Imbuf module: some small refactoring and removing a lot of unused or old code
(about 6.5k lines).
* Added a ImFileType struct with callbacks to make adding an file format type,
or making changes to the API easier.
* Move imbuf init/exit code into IMB_init()/IMB_exit() functions.
* Increased mipmap levels from 10 to 20, you run into this limit already with
a 2k image.
* Removed hamx, amiga, anim5 format support.
* Removed colormap saving, only simple colormap code now for reading tga.
* Removed gen_dynlibtiff.py, editing this is almost as much work as just
editing the code directly.
* Functions removed that were only used for sequencer plugin API:
IMB_anim_nextpic, IMB_clever_double, IMB_antialias, IMB_gamwarp,
IMB_scalefieldImBuf, IMB_scalefastfieldImBuf, IMB_onethird, IMB_halflace,
IMB_dit0, IMB_dit2, IMB_cspace
* Write metadata info into OpenEXR images. Can be viewed with the command
line utility 'exrheader'

* Division by zero fix for TNT SVD code.
* Sound fix, in case ffmpeg decode fails, don't use the samples.
* Fix for incorrect bounds of transformed objects in new raytracing code.
* Gave memory arena's a name used for allocations for easier memory
usage debugging.
* Dupligroup no_draw option was using layers but not restrict view/render
setting. (not a bugfix exactly but would do display list context switching
while drawing for no reason).
* Fix objects instanced on hair particles not giving consistent results
when the object is transformed.
* New math functions: madd_v4_v4fl, len_squared_v3v3, interp_v4_v4v4v4,
mul_v4_m4v4, SH and form factor functions, box_minmax_bounds_m4.
* mul_m4_m4m4 and mul_m3_m3m3 now accept the same pointers for multiple
arguments.
* endjob callback for WM jobs system.
* Geometry node uv/color layer now has search list/autocomplete.
* Various small buildsystem tweaks, not strictly needed yet in trunk.

Enable with WITH_LCMS (options have been added for scons).
lcms is very common on linux package managers, so no need to add in extern (IMHO). Libs for windows can be added to /lib
Code is mostly a proof of concept with hardcoded path for icc profile (taken from the lcms test suite).
Adding this now to svn so it doesn't rot on my hard drive. People interested in pushing it forward should feel free to dig in the code or poke me about it.

blocks that were previously missed; and b) greatly increase my
ohloh stats!

Fixed a long standing bug in IMB_dupImBuf: refcounter should be better 0
within the duplicated ImBuf...
Finally removed this strange STRIPELEM_META mumbo jumbo.
On a way to asset management: made METAs behave like true input strips:
* proxying should work
* input filter options should work (including transform and color balance :)
* IPOs now work in replace mode

This is actually just the alpha value as currently being calculated
by the mist code. It is in many cases not very useful to have this as
alpha in shading result, also for postprocess and composite.
Note: this pass also works with "Mist" not set in World, of course.

Initial commit of imagebrowser in trunk.
BIG COMMIT!
Main changes:
* completely reworked imasel space
* creation and storage of the preview images for materials, textures, world and lamp
* thumbnails of images and movie files when browsing in the file system
* loading previews from external .blend when linking or appending
* thumbnail caching according to the Thumbnail Managing Standard: http://jens.triq.net/thumbnail-spec/
* for now just kept imasel access mostly as old imgbrowser (CTRL+F4, CTRL+F1) a bit hidden still.
* filtering of file types (images, movies, .blend, py,...)
* preliminary managing of bookmarks ('B' button to add, XKEY while bookmark active to delete)
More detailed info which will be updated here: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Elubie/PreviewImageBrowser
Places that need special review (and probably fixes):
* BLO_blendhandle_get_previews in readblenentry
* readfile.c: do_version and refactorings of do_library_append
* UI integration
TODO and known issues still:
* Accented characters do not display correctly with international fonts
* Crash was reported when browsing in directory with movie files
* Bookmark management still needs some UI work (second scrollbar?), feedback here is welcome!

Or in short:
- adding MultiLayer Image support
- recoded entire Image API
- better integration of movie/sequence Images
Was a whole load of work... went down for a week to do this. So, will need
a lot of testing! Will be in irc all evening.

In Orange we've been fighting the past weeks with memory usage a lot...
at the moment incredible huge scenes are being rendered, with multiple
layers and all compositing, stressing limits of memory a lot.
I had hoped that less frequently used blocks would be swapped away
nicely, so fragmented memory could survive. Unfortunately (in OSX) the
malloc range is limited to 2 GB only (upped half of address space).
Other OS's have a limit too, but typically larger afaik.
Now here's mmap to the rescue! It has a very nice feature to map to
a virtual (non existing) file, allowing to allocate disk-mapped memory
on the fly. For as long there's real memory it works nearly as fast as
a regular malloc, and when you go to the swap boundary, it knows nicely
what to swap first.
The upcoming commit will use mmap for all large memory blocks, like
the composit stack, render layers, lamp buffers and images. Tested here
on my 1 GB system, and compositing huge images with a total of 2.5 gig
still works acceptable here. :)
http://www.blender.org/bf/memory.jpg
This is a silly composit test, using 64 MB images with a load of nodes.
Check the header print... the (2323.33M) is the mmap disk-cache in use.
BTW: note that is still limited to the virtual address space of 4 GB.
The new call is:
MEM_mapalloc()
Per definition, mmap() returns zero'ed memory, so a calloc isn't required.
For Windows there's no mmap() available, but I'm pretty sure there's an
equivalent. Windows gurus here are invited to insert that here in code! At
the moment it's nicely ifdeffed, so for Windows the mmap defaults to a
regular alloc.

int IMB_cache_limiter_get_refcount()
Did not return a value at all. Any compiler should flag big warnings for
this btw... tsk tsk!
|
|
* Add ffmpeg-read support in anim.c and util.c
* Makes ImBufs refcountable. You can now increase an internal refcounter
in ImBufs (using IMB_refImBuf) which is decreased by freeImBuf.
This makes it possible to simply pass ImBuf pointers around in the
sequencer saving a few memcopies.
|
|
Until now, the zbuffer was written straight from the internal zbuffer,
which has values that are inverse-proportional (like 1.0/z) which makes
it very hard to use it for postprocess, like zblur or other composit effects
that require Z.
Based on info from ILM, the values stored for Z in exr files is the
actual distance from a camera. I think that's about time to migrate to that
convention!
By default now, after render, the z values are converted to floats. This
saves in exr files now, but not in the Iris Z files. That latter was a
blender-only anyway, so might be not a real hassle to drop. :)
You can see the difference in the image window, but notice the range now
is linear mapped from camera clipstart to clipend.
Note; I just discover that ortho Z values need a different correction...
|
|
- EXR now saves and reads Zbuffers correctly
- EXR reading didn't set alpha to 1 yet when no alpha buffer was present
- ImageWindow: the "black point" only checked for the r value... now is OK
- ImageWindow: Curves panal has button "reset"
- ImageWindow: hold LMB drag shows rgba and z values. With SHIFT or CTRL it
applies black/white point whilte dragging too
- ImageWindow: saving file copied the entire buffer... removed that. Also
made the header print clear; this save only saves in own file type.
- Curves: zoom and drag now gets clamped by the Clipping value
- Imbuf: duplicate buffer only copied one quarter of to new buffer
|
|
- Reading exr images now goes OK. I've unified the code for reading
'half' and 'float' (was nicely possible!). And removed useless copying
of data around.
- Fixed bug in allocating new rects, like for making mipmaps. flag issues.
- filter code accidentally incremented wrong pointer (crash on mipmap too)
|
|
Credits go to Gernot Ziegler, who originally coded EXR support, and to
Austin Benesh for bringing it further. Kent Mein provided a lot of code
for integrating float buffers in Blender imbuf and ImBuf API cleanup,
and provided Make and Scons and static linking.
At this moment; the EXR libraries are a *dependency*, so you cannot get
the Orange branch compiled without having OpenEXR installed. Get the
(precompiled or sources) stuff from www.openexr.com. Current default is
that the headers and lib resides in /user/local/
Several changes/additions/fixes were added:
- EXR code only supported 'half' format (16 bits per channel). I've added
float writing, but for reading it I need tomorrow. :)
- Quite some clumsy copying of data happened in EXR code.
- cleaned up the api calls already a bit, preparing for more advanced
support
- Zbuffers were saved 16 bits, now 32 bits
- automatic adding of .exr extensions went wrong
Imbuf:
- added proper imbuf->flags and imbuf->mall support for float buffers, it
was created for *each* imbuf. :)
- found bugs for float buffers in scaling and flipping. Code there will
need more checks still
- imbuf also needs to be verified to behave properly when no 32 bits
rect exists (for saving for example)
TODO:
- support internal float images for textures, backbuf, AO probes, and
display in Image window
Hope this commit won't screwup syncing with bf-blender... :/
