2020-09-20LibOverride: add checks to RNA collections editing utils.Bastien Montagne
Collections of liboverride data only support insertion of new items (and deleting or moving those around). No operation on existing items from linked data is allowed. Reflect that in RNA functions used to edit py-defined RNA collections. Note that this is not ideal currently, it does the job but feedback to user is rather poor. Ideally add-ons should implement higher-level checks for override cases in their operators.

2020-08-20Depsgraph: refactor tagging after time changesJacques Lucke
This reverts {rB1693a5efe91999b60b3dc0bdff727473b3bd00bb} and implements an alternative solution. The old patch had the problem that the depsgraph would always evaluate at the current frame of the original scene (even when `DEG_evaluate_on_framechange` was used). Now it is possible to evaluate the depsgraph at a specific frame without having to change the original scene. Reviewers: sergey, sybren Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D8616
2020-08-07Code Style: use "#pragma once" in source directoryJacques Lucke
This replaces header include guards with `#pragma once`. A couple of include guards are not removed yet (e.g. `__RNA_TYPES_H__`), because they are used in other places. This patch has been generated by P1561 followed by `make format`. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D8466
2020-07-23LibOverride: Store RNA prop type in override properties.Bastien Montagne
Storing this info will help with dealing with reset operations and the like (as we do not want to reset overrides of ID pointers essentially).

2020-07-23LibOverride: change runtime data into a real struct.Bastien Montagne
Needed for upcoming changes.
2020-06-30LibOverride: Add concept of 'embedded'/'virtual' override.Bastien Montagne
IDs like embedded ones (master collections, root node trees) cannot be linked, and thus cannot be real override themselves. Since they are managed by their owner ID, that one will also have the overrides for their locally edited properties. We still need a way to mark them as overridden though, for various UI and override-internal purposes, this is done using a new ID flag. Note that since Shae Keys are not linkable, and their pointers are not editable in RNA, they are also considered as embedded from override point of view.
2020-06-30Cleanup: ID macros: cast to `const ID *` instead of `ID *`.Bastien Montagne
Allows to pass const pointers without getting complains from the compiler.
2020-06-23Cleanup: rename 'name' to 'filepath' for DNA typesCampbell Barton
Using 'name' for the full path of a file reads badly, especially when id.name is used in related code.
2020-06-23Cleanup: rename Library.filepath to filepath_absCampbell Barton
Make it clear that this is the absolute path, allow the 'name' to be renamed to 'filepath'. Rename is safe since this is only for run-time.
2020-06-15Fix T77774: New undo code broken by 'make local' behavior.Bastien Montagne
This is actually a nice issue due to too much optimization... * Making an ID local just reuse the linked one whenever possible, instead of actually making a copy of it. * Therefore, the collection containing that ID is seen as unchanged, since the pointer itself remained the same. * But on undo step, there is no way to reuse that local object, which then gets deleted, and linked one gets re-created - at a different address. * Collection, however, since unchanged, is not updated at all and thus keeps reference to the to-be-deleted local object, instead of the linked one. * Issue gets even worse with viewlayers, this leads to the crash. To address this, this patch adds a 'virtual' update flags that does nothing in update case, but will ensure that the affected IDs using the one made local are properly detected as changed across the relevant undo step. Note that the recalc flags were chosen mostly for a logical reason, and also because they are already properly dealt with and cleared by undo code, so this looks like the optimal solution. 2020-06-12LibOverride: Remove 'auto override' option.Bastien Montagne
Now all overrides are handled that way. Performances of the process look decent enough, even with production characters... If performance issues still arise, we'll investigate other solutions. This should also make T73154 obsolete now.

2020-05-29Blender: change bugfix release versioning from a/b/c to .1/.2/.3Brecht Van Lommel
The file subversion is no longer used in the Python API or user interface, and is now internal to Blender. User interface, Python API and file I/O metadata now use more consistent formatting for version numbers. Official releases use "2.83.0", "2.83.1", and releases under development use "2.90.0 Alpha", "2.90.0 Beta". Some Python add-ons may need to lower the Blender version in bl_info to (2, 83, 0) or (2, 90, 0) if they used a subversion number higher than 0. https://wiki.blender.org/wiki/Reference/Release_Notes/2.83/Python_API#Compatibility This change is in preparation of LTS releases, and also brings us more in line with semantic versioning. 2020-05-08Cleanup: take includes out of 'extern "C"' blocksJacques Lucke
Surrounding includes with an 'extern "C"' block is not necessary anymore. Also that made it harder to add any C++ code to some headers, or include headers that have "optional" C++ code like `MEM_guardedalloc.h`. I tested compilation on linux and windows (and got help from @LazyDodo). If this still breaks compilation due to some linker error, the header containing the symbol in question is probably missing an 'extern "C"' block. 2020-04-14Fix T75542: toggling modifier visibility not working correct with undo speedupBrecht Van Lommel
The problem was that in direct_link_id_restore_recalc, recalc_undo_accumulated should contain the changes from the target state to the current state. However it had already been cleared at that point, to start accumulating changes up to the next undo push. Delaying the clear of this flag seems like the obvious solution, but it's hard to find the right place for that (if there is one). Instead this splits up the flag into two separate variables. 2020-03-17Add experimental global undo speedup.Bastien Montagne
The feature is hidden behind an experimental option, you'll have to enable it in the preferences to try it. This feature is not yet considered fully stable, crashes may happen, as well as .blend file corruptions (very unlikely, but still possible). In a nutshell, the ideas behind this code are to: * Detect unchanged IDs across an undo step. * Reuse as much as possible existing IDs memory, even when its content did change. * Re-use existing depsgraphs instead of building new ones from scratch. * Store accumulated recalc flags, to avoid needless re-compute of things that did not change, when the ID itself is detected as modified. See T60695 and D6580 for more technical details.

2020-03-11Cleanup: rename 'private' to 'embedded' for sub-data IDs.Bastien Montagne
'Private' can be a rather confusing term, especially when considering its meaning in programming languages. So now root node trees and master collections are 'embedded' IDs instead.
2020-03-05Add an session-wise uuid integer to IDs.Bastien Montagne
"session-wise" here mean while editing a same .blend file. So creating or opening a new one will reset the uuid counter. This should avoid any overflow in practice. Only IDs added to Main database get an uuid, runtime-only ones are not affected. This is intended to provide undo with a way to find IDs across several 'memory realms' (undo speedup project). 2020-01-21Fix T72213: F-Curve animation does not update FreeStyle propertiesSybren A. Stüvel
FreeStyle line styles were not part of the dependency graph, and blacklisted from the Copy-on-Write system. As a result, animated FreeStyle properties would not be updated by the animation system, resulting in T72213. There was an explicit call to run the animation system on the original datablocks, but that was (for good reasons) removed in D5394. This commit adds the FreeStyleLineStyle datablocks to the dependency graph and allows them to be handled by the CoW system. As a result - the UI now updates properly when properties are animated, and - animated property values are actually used when rendering. This commit includes @Sergey's patch P1222, which unifies two bits of code that did the same thing: check whether datablock type is covered by copy-on-write. Diffing on undo steps is a critical performance point of override system, although not required for override itself, it gives user immediate feedback ove what is overridden. Profiling showed that rna path text search over overrides operations was by far the most costly thing here, so now using a runtime temp ghash mapping for this search instead. Seems to give at least 5 times speedup on big production rig.

2019-09-19Fix T66154: viewlayer hide/exclude settings getting lost for linked collectionsBrecht Van Lommel
The problem was that the object and collection pointers in Base and LayerCollection would get lost of file read. Normally such ID pointers would be resolved by pointing to an ID_ID placeholder which has the datablock name, and then replacing it will the real datablock. However ID_ID is only written for directly linked datablocks. This adds the concept of an indirectly linked datablock with a weak reference to it. For this we write an ID_ID_WEAK_REF code, which is a reference that will only be resolved if the datablock was read for another reason. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D4416

2019-08-28Fix T68971: Copy As New Driver from Material node creates a bad reference.Alexander Gavrilov
NodeTree structures of materials and some other data blocks are effectively node group datablock objects that are contained inside the parent block. Thus, direct references to them are only valid while blender is running, and are lost on save. Fix Copy As New Driver to create a reference that goes through the owner datablock, by adding a new ID flag to mark private pseudo-datablocks. Also fix functions that return full paths to structures and properties, e.g. used in python tooltips. Functions for paths from ID to struct or property can't be changed because of Animation Data related code. Reviewers: mont29 Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D5559
2019-07-28Fix T66872: Changing clip color space does not update background imagesSergey Sharybin
Such reload can no longer happen directly and is to be done via dependency graph. Eventually, the movie cache will become shared across all copies of the clip, but even then we still need to have dependency graph mechanism because we need to update FFmpeg animation handle (which can not be shared across the copies).
2019-07-26Fix T66378: Missing animation update when switching view layerSergey Sharybin
Current frame is stored in a scene, and scene might have multiple view layers. The inactive view layers were not informed about scene's frame being changed, so when user switched back to view after changing scene frame it was in an inconsistent state between current scene frame and animation. Now we tag scene for time changes, so dependency graph can catch up and do proper update. Currently tagging is from quite generic place. Probably better approach would be to tag from where frame is actually being assigned. Downside of this is that it's easy to miss some places. 2019-06-05Sound: Port to a copy-on-write conceptSergey Sharybin
This change makes it so sound handles are created for evaluated scene, sequencer and speakers. This allows to have properly evaluated animation on them. For the viewport playback sound uses regular dependency graph. For the final render sound uses dependency graph created for render pipeline, which now also contains sequencer and sound datablocks. All the direct sound update calls are replaced with corresponding dependency graph recalc tag.
2019-05-07Sound: Revert all the recent changes to soundSergey Sharybin

2019-05-03Sound: Make sound handles only be in evaluated datablocksSergey Sharybin
Quite straightforward change, which makes it so audio handles are only created inside of evaluated datablocks. Exception is adding sound strip to the sequencer, which needs an audio handle to query length and number of channels. This is done by temporarily loading sound file into an original datablock, and then tossing it away. There is an assert in sound.c which verifies that audio system is used from an evaluated domain, which should help porting all the cases which are likely missed by this commit. Some annoying parts: - `BKE_sound_update_scene()` is iterating over all bases, and does special ID tags to see whether sound has been handled or not already. This can not be done the old fashion now. Ideally, this will be done as a speaker datablock evaluation, but seems that would require a lock since audio API is not safe for threading. So this is not a desired way i'd say. Possible solution here would be to iterate over ID datablocks using dependency graph query API. - Frame jump needs to call `BKE_sound_seek_scene()` directly because there might be some flags assigned to the scene which could be clear after operator execution is over. Need to verify if that's the case though. This is a bit hairy code, so sticking to a safest and known to work approach for now. - Removed check for format when opening new sound file. Maybe we can have some utility function which queries channel and duration information, leaving the caller's code clean and tidy. Tested following cases: - Adding/removing/moving sequencer's sound strips. - Adding/moving speakers in viewport. - Rendering audio.
