Part of the fix was to get gputexture to use an array to accomodate each eye. This takes care of viewports showing individual Left or Right views. For the combined view the fix was in overlay_image.c:camera_background_images_stereo_setup. Note 1: Referece images are still not supporting stereo. Note 2: For painting, and getting image bindcode I'm hardcording a single-view experience. Note 3: Without D6922 stereo is too broken to even test this patch. This adds the `Half Float Precision` option in the image property panel. This option is only available on float textures and is enabled by default. Adding a flag inside the imbuf (IB_halffloat) on load is done for EXR and PSD formats that can store half floating point (16bits/channels). The option is then not displayed in this case and forced. Based on @fclem's suggestion in D6421, this commit implements support for storing all tiles of a UDIM texture in a single 2D array texture on the GPU. Previously, Eevee was binding one OpenGL texture per tile, quickly running into hardware limits with nontrivial UDIM texture sets. Workbench meanwhile had no UDIM support at all, as reusing the per-tile approach would require splitting the mesh by tile as well as texture. With this commit, both Workbench as well as Eevee now support huge numbers of tiles, with the eventual limits being GPU memory and ultimately GL_MAX_ARRAY_TEXTURE_LAYERS, which tends to be in the 1000s on modern GPUs. Initially my plan was to have one array texture per unique size, but managing the different textures and keeping everything consistent ended up being way too complex. Therefore, we now use a simpler version that allocates a texture that is large enough to fit the largest tile and then packs all tiles into as many layers as necessary. As a result, each UDIM texture only binds two textures (one for the actual images, one for metadata) regardless of how many tiles are used. Note that this rolls back per-tile GPUTextures, meaning that we again have per-Image GPUTextures like we did before the original UDIM commit, but now with four instead of two types. This patch contains the work that I did during my week at the Code Quest - adding support for tiled images to Blender. With this patch, images now contain a list of tiles. By default, this just contains one tile, but if the source type is set to Tiled, the user can add additional tiles. When acquiring an ImBuf, the tile to be loaded is specified in the ImageUser. Therefore, code that is not yet aware of tiles will just access the default tile as usual. The filenames of the additional tiles are derived from the original filename according to the UDIM naming scheme - the filename contains an index that is calculated as (1001 + 10*<y coordinate of the tile> + <x coordinate of the tile>), where the x coordinate never goes above 9. Internally, the various tiles are stored in a cache just like sequences. When acquired for the first time, the code will try to load the corresponding file from disk. Alternatively, a new operator can be used to initialize the tile similar to the New Image operator. The following features are supported so far: - Automatic detection and loading of all tiles when opening the first tile (1001) - Saving all tiles - Adding and removing tiles - Filling tiles with generated images - Drawing all tiles in the Image Editor - Viewing a tiled grid even if no image is selected - Rendering tiled images in Eevee - Rendering tiled images in Cycles (in SVM mode) - Automatically skipping loading of unused tiles in Cycles - 2D texture painting (also across tiles) - 3D texture painting (also across tiles, only limitation: individual faces can not cross tile borders) - Assigning custom labels to individual tiles (drawn in the Image Editor instead of the ID) - Different resolutions between tiles There still are some missing features that will be added later (see T72390): - Workbench engine support - Packing/Unpacking support - Baking support - Cycles OSL support - many other Blender features that rely on images Thanks to Brecht for the review and to all who tested the intermediate versions! This also replaces the Use Alpha setting. We now have these alpha modes: * Straight: store RGB and alpha channels separately with alpha acting as a mask, also known as unassociated alpha. * Premultiplied: transparent RGB pixels are multiplied by the alpha channel. The natural format for renders. * Channel Packed: different images are packed in the RGB and alpha channels, and they should not influence each other. Channel packing is commonly used by game engines to save memory. * None: ignore alpha channel from the file and make image fully opaque. Cycles OSL does not correctly support Channel Packed and None yet, we are missing fine control over the OpenImageIO texture cache to do that. Fixes T53672

Cycles now uses the color space on the image datablock, and uses OpenColorIO to convert to scene linear as needed. Byte images do not take extra memory, they are compressed in scene linear + sRGB transfer function which in common cases is a no-op. Eevee and workbench were changed to work similar. Float images are stored as scene linear. Byte images are compressed as scene linear + sRGB and stored in a GL_SRGB8_ALPHA8 texture. From the GLSL shader side this means they are read as scene linear, simplifying the code and taking advantage of hardware support. Further, OpenGL image textures are now all stored with premultiplied alpha. Eevee texture sampling looks a little different now because interpolation happens premultiplied and in scene linear space. Overlays and grease pencil work in sRGB space so those now have an extra conversion to sRGB after reading from image textures. This is not particularly elegant but as long as engines use different conventions, one or the other needs to do conversion. This change breaks compatibility for cases where multiple image texture nodes were using the same image with different color space node settings. However it gives more predictable behavior for baking and texture painting if save, load and image editing operations have a single color space to handle. Use first packed image as legacy image->packedfile, so saving .blend file with latest builds makes it so packed images are not lost when opening with previous releases. This will only work reliably if mutliview is not used, otherwise it'll be only first view in the .blend file, which is rather expected since previous releases are not aware of views.

The issue was caused by the fact that we never used to store the generated image color in DNA, so image reload will loose this information. Now we store the color in DNA, making ti so re-loading the image will preserve it's generated color. It is now also possible to change generated image color using the color swatch in image properties after the image was created.

Summary: Behaves very much the same as cache for Movie Clip datablock: - Image now have `MovieCache *cache` field which replaced legacy `ListBase ibufs`. This allows image datablock to easily keep of image buffers which are owned by itself. This field isn't saved to the file and getting restored on undo steps. However, cache limit is global for movies, sequences and image datablocks now. So overall cached image buffers size will not go above cache limit size in user preferences. - Image buffers which are marked as BITMAPDIRTY will never be freed from the cache. - Added utility function to iterate over image buffers saved in movie cache. - Movie cache cleanup check callback now have ImBuf argument which can be used in a condition of cleanup. - Added some utility functions which replaces legacy ibufs iterations with image cache iteration which happens from inside a lock. - Fixed `image_mem_size()` which was only counting one of the buffers if both float and byte buffer present. Additional notes: - `BKE_image_get_first_ibuf()` is rather stupid, but direct access to ibufs->first was also the same stupid idea. Would consider avoid this function is another project. - There are some places which doesn't look threadsafe, but they already were not so much threadsafe anyway before. So think not a big deal with solving this later. 2013-08-12Fix #36408: Setting `image.colorspace_settings.name` changes saved alphaSergey Sharybin
Issue was caused by reload caused by input colorspace change. For generated images generated alpha flags weren't saved to DNA, which lead to fallback from 32 bit depth to 24 when doing any kind reload of generated image. The same alpha loss happens when you save .blend file with generated images. Now added generated depth to DNA, so reload image and .blend file wouldn't loss alpha.
