- fix: user pref, window title was reset to 'Blender' on tab usage - Undo history menu back: - name "Undo History" - hotkey alt+ctrl+z (alt+apple+z for mac) - works like 2.4x, only for global undo, editmode and particle edit. - Menu scroll - for small windows or screens, popup menus now allow to display all items, using internal scrolling - works with a timer, scrolling 10 items per second when mouse is over the top or bottom arrow - if menu is too big to display, it now draws to top or bottom, based on largest available space. - also works for hotkey driven pop up menus. - User pref "DPI" follows widget/layout size - widgets & headers now become bigger and smaller, to match 'dpi' font sizes. Works well to match UI to monitor size. - note that icons can get fuzzy, we need better mipmaps for it

Right Mouse on area edges has menu to Split or Join. Works like 2.4. Code needed cleanup and upgrade; operators were hardcoded tied to using the area corner widgets only. In theory this is getting py ready even, but that might need some additional testing. :)
2011-02-17DNA header files are now grouped under the same module. No further ↵Nathan Letwory
documentation done.
2011-02-02Bugfix [#25902] alt+a over 3D view don't up date dropesheet editorJoshua Leung
Migrating "redraws" settings from TimeLine view data to per Screen. The options are now still shown in the TimeLine "Playback" menu though. This means that whatever redraw settings you set in a TimeLine editor will be used throughout a screen (i.e. editor layout) to determine which editors will get updated during playback, instead of only certain editors doing certain things at vague times. --- Also, I moved some version patches pre 2.56 version bump into a version-check for 2.56. These must've been missed when doing the release...

3D Window: Snap to cursor or grid, didn't respect the 'restrict location' options for objects or bones.
2010-11-20Bugfix #24801Ton Roosendaal
- Reading 2.4x files could cause print "missing region type". Appeared the 2.50 do_versions patch differed from default region definitions - Sometimes editors showed wrong button for type browsing. Was because variable wasn't correctly reset on saves.
2010-11-09Bugfix #20812 (and probably others)Ton Roosendaal
Issue: in user preferences window, using file selecting caused the the userpref window to be saved, and not closing. Reason: design error (by me) in using screen->full tag for denoting a temporarily screen (like file window). Fixed by using a new screen->temp variable for it. System remained unstable though, noticed another issue with freeing temp screens in wrong places. Seems nice stable now! Will check on the wiki for relarted issues now.

Reverting this commit. Seems that only the added parts were tested. I'll look at restoring a similar version of this in future.

2010-06-23Fix #21470: changing brush settings redraws the 3d view unecessarily,Brecht Van Lommel
added ED_region_tag_redraw_overlay to only redo overlay drawing, which in case of triple buffer is much faster.

2010-01-26Drag and drop 2.5 integration! Finally, slashdot regulars can useTon Roosendaal
Blender too now! :) ** Drag works as follows: - drag-able items are defined by the standard interface ui toolkit - each button can get this feature, via uiButSetDragXXX(but, ...). There are calls to define drag-able images, ID blocks, RNA paths, file paths, and so on. By default you drag an icon, exceptionally an ImBuf - Drag items are registered centrally in the WM, it allows more drag items simultaneous too, but not implemented ** Drop works as follows: - On mouse release, and if drag items exist in the WM, it converts the mouse event to an EVT_DROP type. This event then gets the full drag info as customdata - drop regions are defined with WM_dropbox_add(), similar to keymaps you can make a "drop map" this way, which become 'drop map handlers' in the queues. - next to that the UI kit handles some common button types (like accepting ID or names) to be catching a drop event too. - Every "drop box" has two callbacks: - poll() = check if the event drag data is relevant for this box - copy() = fill in custom properties in the dropbox to initialize an operator - The dropbox handler then calls its standard Operator with its dropbox properties. ** Currently implemented Drag items: - ID icons in browse buttons - ID icons in context menu of properties region - ID icons in outliner and rna viewer - FileBrowser icons - FileBrowser preview images Drag-able icons are subtly visualized by making them brighter a bit on mouse-over. In case the icon is a button or UI element too (most cases), the drag-able feature will make the item react to mouse-release instead of mouse-press. Drop options: - UI buttons: ID and text buttons (paste name) - View3d: Object ID drop copies object - View3d: Material ID drop assigns to object under cursor - View3d: Image ID drop assigns to object UV texture under cursor - Sequencer: Path drop will add either Image or Movie strip - Image window: Path drop will open image ** Drag and drop Notes: - Dropping into another Blender window (from same application) works too. I've added code that passes on mousemoves and clicks to other windows, without activating them though. This does make using multi-window Blender a bit friendler. - Dropping a file path to an image, is not the same as dropping an Image ID... keep this in mind. Sequencer for example wants paths to be dropped, textures in 3d window wants an Image ID. - Although drop boxes could be defined via Python, I suggest they're part of the UI and editor design (= how we want an editor to work), and not default offered configurable like keymaps. - At the moment only one item can be dragged at a time. This is for several reasons.... For one, Blender doesn't have a well defined uniform way to define "what is selected" (files, outliner items, etc). Secondly there's potential conflicts on what todo when you drop mixed drag sets on spots. All undefined stuff... nice for later. - Example to bypass the above: a collection of images that form a strip, should be represented in filewindow as a single sequence anyway. This then will fit well and gets handled neatly by design. - Another option to check is to allow multiple options per drop... it could show the operator as a sort of menu, allowing arrow or scrollwheel to choose. For time being I'd prefer to try to design a singular drop though, just offer only one drop action per data type on given spots. - What does work already, but a tad slow, is to use a function that detects an object (type) under cursor, so a drag item's option can be further refined (like drop object on object = parent). (disabled) ** More notes - Added saving for Region layouts (like split points for toolbar) - Label buttons now handle mouse over - File list: added full path entry for drop feature. - Filesel bugfix: wm_operator_exec() got called there and fully handled, while WM event code tried same. Added new OPERATOR_HANDLED flag for this. Maybe python needs it too? - Cocoa: added window move event, so multi-win setups work OK (didnt save). - Interface_handlers.c: removed win->active - Severe area copy bug: area handlers were not set to NULL - Filesel bugfix: next/prev folder list was not copied on area copies ** Leftover todos - Cocoa windows seem to hang on cases still... needs check - Cocoa 'draw overlap' swap doesn't work - Cocoa window loses focus permanently on using Spotlight (for these reasons, makefile building has Carbon as default atm) - ListView templates in UI cannot become dragged yet, needs review... it consists of two overlapping UI elements, preventing handling icon clicks. - There's already Ghost library code to handle dropping from OS into Blender window. I've noticed this code is unfinished for Macs, but seems to be complete for Windows. Needs test... currently, an external drop event will print in console when succesfully delivered to Blender's WM.

2009-12-15Sequencer drawing cleanup (Part 1)Andrea Weikert
Separated preview drawing into own ARegion, this should make using View2D possible The Sequencer now has three view types: Sequencer, Preview and split Sequencer/Preview. Changing the preview can be done either by the combobox in the header or toggling through those types with CTRL+TAB. Notes: * Icon for split Sequencer/Preview view missing still. * Naming items in the comboboxes can be improved (just Preview instead of Image Preview?) Next steps: * bringing back View2D handling (zoom/pan) for image preview * experimenting with splitting the Preview ARegion for In/Out editing

New feature: allowing to open temporarily windows for output. Implemented for: - Render output (use output menu "new window" option). - User Preferences (alt+U, plus added in 'File' menu) Currently the window opens where your mouse is. The Render window works as usual, with ESC or F11 moving it to back or front again. That allows the window position to remain where you moved it on new renders. If you close a render window when it renders, the render thread will be killed. User prefs show 'info window' now... i thought we'd use outliner? Anyhoo, I've made the 'save settings' to close the 2nd window as well. Opening a secondary file window for save I'll check on later, this has to be checked with the current event system still. the WM_window_open_temp() api call for this maintains currently a *single* temp window. If you have a render window open, and call for the preferences, the render window will be used for it. And the other way around. On closing the blender window, the temp windows close automatically when there's no regular window open, and blender quits.

* Added suppport for generating code without verifying with DNA, this doesn't give good errors and is more error prone, but makes it easier to wrap things like EditBone which are not in DNA. * RNA_define_verify_sdna(0), and set to 1 again afterwards.
2009-07-082.5: Various FixesBrecht Van Lommel
* Context panel now draws without header, with arrows, no scene name. * Softbody vertex group search popup. * Improve names for autogenerated shortcut keys in menus. * Make most Select menus in the 3D view header work. * Fix armature border select selection syncing. * Add POSE_OT_select_constraint_target, MESH_OT_select_by_number_vertices, MESH_OT_select_vertex_path. * Merge mesh select similar into one operator. * Don't give MESH_OT_select_random Space hotkey. * Add DAG_object_flush_update to many mesh edit tools, not calling this will crash with modifiers. * RNA_def_enum_funcs for dynamic enums in operators, but not very useful without context yet. * Fix refresh issue with image window header + editmode. * Fix drawing of shadow mesh for image painting. * Remove deprecated uiDefMenuButO and uiDefMenuSep functions. * Remove keyval.c, code is in wm_keymap.c already. * Rename WM_operator_redo to WM_operator_props_popup.

More toolbar functionality for workflow review. - Split the region in two parts, bottom has the Tool Properties, the top part shows 2 panels, one for python defined tools, other for a "tool shelf" which (later) will get saved in files. - Added a full context driven framework for this toolbar, showing the tools depending on 3D window 'mode'. Both python defined tools as the shelf respect this. So - for example - you will see different tools in editmode mesh, as in vertex paint mode, etc. - First template for the python tools will be committed after this commit; it has placeholder tools to just show/test functioning. NOTE: if you had saved a layout that shows tools region, open/close it once to get the new region created for properties. TODO: - Moving paint properties to tool settings - Test a layout with horizontal toolbar (without properties) - Bring back floating panels, and put tool-properties here. (as option)
2009-07-022.5: Lists for vertex groups, shape keys, uvs, vertex colors.Brecht Van Lommel
RNA * Added the relevant active_*_index properties, with proper get/set/range, updates and notifiers. * Context.tool_settings. * ToolSettings.vertex_group_weight. Operators * MESH_OT_uv_texture_add/remove * MESH_OT_vertex_color_add/remove * MESH_OT_sticky_add/remove * OBJECT_OT_vertex_group_add/remove/assign/remove_from/ select/deselect/copy/copy_to_linked * OBJECT_OT_shape_key_add/remove UI * Some updates and cleanups in list template code. Known issue: when going in & out of editmode, uv textures and vertex colors dissappear. I thought me->edit_mesh would be NULL when not in edit mode but it is not?

* Add Image.dirty boolean. * Added Window struct, with editable Window.screen. * Make Screen.scene editable.
2009-06-16UIBrecht Van Lommel
* Added option for panel to be closed by default. * Added support for RNA property and enum icons in buttons. * Remove some deprecated RNA menu code. * Fix issue with newly created panels not being inserted in the right place. * Fix issue with 3-split layout not being divided correctly. * FIx issue with menu items not drawing correct using python UI.
2009-05-20UI: added support for enable buttons in the panel header.Brecht Van Lommel
2009-05-19UIBrecht Van Lommel
* Fix buttons jumping around when resizing and zoom. Part of this was adding a tiny a 0.001f offset in UI_view2d_view_ortho, otherwise the rounding is unpredictable (used to be 0.375f, but that was disabled). * Fix various issues with zooming, panning panels. V2D_LOCKOFS_X/Y is now taken into account in more places in the view2d code, to avoid zooming into the center or panning out of the view. * Remove "Free" align mode in buttons window (it's not really useful). * View3D/Graph/Image editors now use the same PanelType system as the buttons window, means some deprecated panel code could be removed. * Some small visual tweaks for panels. * View 2D Reset operator (Home key), to reset zoom and panning for panels. * Added argument to set number buttons as sliders (slider=True for itemR). * Ignore labels for button alignment (doesn't look right). * Fix some use of context.main in py scripts, should get data from active object instead. * Fix autotexspace -> auto_texspace in py script.

Summary of ain features: - Themes and Styles are now editable. - CTRL+U "Save user defaults" now goes to new .B25.blend, so you can use 2.4x and 2.5x next to each other. If B25 doesn't exist, it reads the regular .B.blend - Press Tkey in 3d window for (unfinished) toolbar WIP. It now only shows the last operator, if appropriate. Nkey properties moved to the other side. A lot of work was done on removing old themes for good and properly getting it work with the 2.5 region system. Here's some notes; - Buttons now all have a complete set of colors, based on button classifications (See outliner -> user prefs -> Interface - Theme colors have been extended with basic colors for region types. Currently colors are defined for Window, Header, List/Channels and for Button/Tool views. The screen manager handles this btw, so a TH_BACK will always pick the right backdrop color. - Menu backdrops are in in Button theme colors. Floating Panels will be in the per-space type Themes. - Styles were added in RNA too, but only for the font settings now. Only Panel font, widget font and widget-label work now. The 'group label' will be for templates mostly. Style settings will be expanded with spacing defaults, label conventions, etc. - Label text colors are stored in per-space Theme too, to make sure they fit. Same goes for Panel title color. Note that 'shadow' for fonts can conflict with text colors; shadow color is currently stored in Style... shadow code needs a bit of work still.
2009-04-22UIBrecht Van Lommel
* Headers and menus can now be created in python. * Replaced the uiMenuItem functions to create menus with equivalent uiItem functions using a layout, removing duplicated code. * More uiItem functions are now exposed to python. * The text editor header, panels and one of its menus are now created in space_text.py. * Buttons window data context icon new changes depending on active object. Issues * Icons are not wrapped yet, hardcoded ints at the moment. * The ID browse template is unfinished.
2009-04-19RNA:Brecht Van Lommel
* Wrapped HeaderType/Header. * Some tweaks to get type properties wrapped with less code. * Made Panel space and region types enum instead of string.
2009-04-17UI:Brecht Van Lommel
* Forgot to finish this code yesterday, dragging panels was broken. This is fixed and new panels are now inserted after the last added one, inbetween others rather than at the end.
2009-04-17UI:Brecht Van Lommel
* For new buttons spaces, automatically set horizontal/vertical align depending on size, instead of free. * Cleaned up the UI panel API. There's now a new uiBeginPanel function which takes a panel type, and a uiEndPanel which takes the final size. uiNewPanel* functions will be phased out. * Animate the re-alignment when a panel size changes, e.g. when enabling dupliframes. * Load ui scripts from the release/ folder first if it is available. This makes it easier to edit ui scripts, since it will directly use the original files which avoids having to run the build system. * Improve editing of panel types while blender is open. That means fixing some issues with lacking updates, overlaps, strange ordering. It even does an animation now when the panel resizes.
2009-03-29UI:Brecht Van Lommel
* Added a PanelType and HeaderType for registering panels and headers in regions. When the region draws, it will then automatically draw the ones that were registerd with poll and draw callbacks. Used for text header, properties and object buttons now.
2009-02-202.5Ton Roosendaal
Graph Editor: added region for buttons (properties), so we can check drivers again! Works like view3d, press NKEY. No buttons there yet though... no time anymore today, it'll require some RNA magic probably.

Proper integration of File-selecting in WM. The communication flow was flawed. :) Main problem was that filewindow can change the screen context entirely, and should not do this directly on a call inside an operator. Another problem was that the operator ownership was handed over to SpaceFile, which is asking for problems if you want to execute the operator with proper context later on. Solution is simple; window handlers already are valid owners of operators and can manage context, so instead of directly talking to the 'file space', you give the operator to a new handler this way: WM_event_add_fileselect(C, op); This handler then listens to events (OPEN, EXEC, CANCEL) sent by the WM or by the filewindow itself. This way local context operators (like "open new image in imagewindow") will survive a full-window fileselector fine, and in future also secondary windows browsing files. Two bugfixes included in this commit too: - Add sequence menus in Sequencer used wrong context. - When handler executes operators, it sets stored context now by first checking if this is still valid.

*** Proof of concept! **** 3D window Panels back, in own designated region for now. Activate or hide it with Nkey. Note that Background Image doesn't work yet, Transform Orientations probably need tests by Martin, Sculpt options have to be recoded there by Nicholas. The UI design sessions will of course review all of this! We'll have to solve a lot of related topics; - navigation (where) and context (what) - non-overlapping layouts vs floating panels/bars - properties vs tools (toolbars) - drop panels and make nice (semi-automated) list views? I've also done experiments with making the main 3d view stay 'behind' the buttons region. That makes popping buttons in and out less distracting, but also makes it obscuring the view... it's not in this commit, it didn't work proper :) To get that work it has to be handled by the internal compositor, then it even can have fancy transparency in back. Anyhoo, time enough to play with this a while. Especially for Image window (paint) it can work well too.
2009-01-232.5: WM CompositingBrecht Van Lommel
* Triple Buffer is now more complete: - Proper handling of window resize, duplicate, etc. - It now uses 3x3 textures (or less) if the power of two sizes do not match well. That still has a worst case wast of 23.4%, but better than 300%. - It can also use the ARB/NV/EXT_texture_rectangle extension now, which may be supported on hardware that does not support ARB_texture_non_power_of_two. - Gesture, menu and brushe redraws now require no redraws at all from the area regions. So even on a high poly scene just moving the paint cursor or opening a menu should be fast. * Testing can be done by setting the "Window Draw Method" in the User Preferences in the outliner. "Overlap" is still default, since "Triple Buffer" has not been tested on computers other than mine, would like to avoid crashing Blender on startup in case there is a common bug, but it's ready for testing now. - For reference "Full" draws the full window each time. - "Triple Buffer" should work for both swap copy and swap exchange systems, the latter still need the -E command line option for "Overlap". - Resizing and going fullscreen still gives flicker here but no more than "Full" drawing. * Partial Redraw was added. ED_region_tag_redraw_partial takes a rect in window coordinates to define a subarea of the region. On region draw it will then set glScissor to a smaller area, and ar->drawrct will always be set to either the partial or full window rect. The latter can then be used for clipping in the 3D view or clipping interface drawing. Neither is implemented yet.

View3D has been split now in a local part (RegionView3D) and a per-area part (old View3D). Currently local is: - view transform - camera zoom/offset - gpencil (todo) - custom clipping planes Rest is in Area still, like active camera, draw type, layers, localview, custom centers, around-settings, transform widget, gridlines, and so on (mostly stuff as available in header). To see it work; also added new feature for region split, press SHIFT+ALT+CTRL+S for four-split. The idea is to make a preset 4-split, configured to stick to top/right/front views for three views. Another cool idea to explore is to then box-clip all drawing based on these 3 views. Note about the code: - currently view3d still stores some depricated settings, to convert from older files. Not all settings are copied over though, like custom clip planes or the 'lock view to object'. - since some view3d ops are now on area level, the operators for it should keep track of that. Bugfix in transform: quat initialize in operator-invoke missed one zero. Als brought back GE to compile for missing Ipos and channels.

Testing commit; this puts back support for swap-exchange graphics cards, which I had hoped to have faded out... but it appears it still does it for intel and some atis. This only swap-exchanges properly for areas/regions, not for menus or the 'action zone triange'. Let's see if it works! You enable it with starting with commandline option -E

- basic drawing of list and thumbnail view (switchable through 'favourits' icon in header) - selection of files and directories (bookmarks) works with the RMB (right mouse button) - load operator for files still unstable (no check for correct file type) and incomplete. (WM_operator_free missing) immediate TODOS: - fix load file operator - finish drawing of buttons in header - drawing of detailed list with all file info. - finish selection and execute operators (LMB and MMB execute) later todos: - parent dir - keymap for all the shortcuts - append/link and databrowse - ...

WM: added area-listener, which can be used to tag refreshes for either the drawing call, or use the new ED_area_tag_refresh() function which will automatically call, after all notifiers were handled, an the spacetype->refresh() you provided. Added for Joshua, after reviewing Action/Dopesheet requirements. Joshua: I've made two dummy functions in space_action.c: - action_listener() - action_refresh() Wich now does a printf on activating a new object.
2008-12-26UI: PanelsBrecht Van Lommel
* API and usage is basically the same still. * Panels were moved to region level. I first thought of keeping them at area level, but having them at region level it's simpler to handle events and do drawing, and also to integrate with view2d. They can still become area level overlapping regions, if we make a floating (or docked) region that can contain panels. * Added back a few panels from the scene buttons for testing. Issues still: * The view2d handling and alignment refresh of panels is not correct yet in the buttons window. * I did not yet bring back the block handlers system. It was basically a system that stored which panel was open and where the events for that panel would go. Just a few functions, but not sure how it fits in 2.5. * There was a case where dragging panels would not properly remove the window level handler, but could not redo anymore even though I don't think I fixed it. * Some text in the panels goes past the end of the button, that is due to the checkmark button drawing, not related to this commit. Other UI code changes: * Renamed interface.h to interface_intern.h for consistency. * Fixed some issues with freeing of blocks when they changed due to context. * uiDrawBlock now takes a context pointer (mostly for block drawextra).
2008-12-232.5: Data ContextBrecht Van Lommel
* Worked out data context implementation more, now with initial context callbacks implemented for the screen and 3d view. * For collections, switch from iterators to simpler ListBase. Though that still means it uses LinkData* rather than the actual Object* for example, since those can only be part of one list. So I added a macro as well to make iteration easier when possible. CTX_DATA_BEGIN(C, Object*, ob, selected_objects) { printf("object name: %s\n", ob->id.name); } CTX_DATA_END;

Better implementation of own window timers, not using ghost. That makes blender's WM nice in control, and gives callers of timers the opportunitie to evaluate time passed since previous step. This system also only generates one timer event per main loop (events - handlers - notifiers - draw) Small fix: allow keymap modifier to give KM_ANY to ignore modifier keys, this to have TIMER keymap work.

Added 'header print' feature back. ED_area_headerprint(ScrArea *sa, const char *str); Give it a NULL string to disable the feature. On each call it tags the header for redraw.

- depricated area "headbutofs" and "headbutlen", which is now fully replaced with view2d handling. - needed to add header default V2D_ALIGN_NO_NEG_Y, V2D_LOCKOFS_Y seems to not do anything atm :) - new: running blender in debug (blender -d) will print the current handler and operator in use (not mousemove)
2008-12-122.5Ton Roosendaal
- Added rudimentary support for Ipo window (Joshua can check on view2d issues for this? :) - removed ED_area.h, added ED_space_api.h
