2017-10-26Move background images into the cameraCampbell Barton
This moves background images out of the 3D viewport, to be used only as camera reference images. For 3D viewport references, background images can be used, see: D2827 Some work is still needed (background option isn't working at the moment).
2017-10-09Manipulator: add cage3d scale widgetCampbell Barton
For now only show this when scale manipulator is active.

2017-06-01Move custom transform orientations to workspaceJulian Eisel
This commit moves the list of transform orientations from scenes to workspaces. Main reasons for this are: * Transform orientations are UI data and should not be stored in the scene. * Introducion of workspaces caused some (expected) glitches with transform orientations. Mainly when removing one. * Improves code. More technically speaking, this commit does: * Move list of custom transform orientations from Scene to WorkSpace struct. * Store active transform orientation index separate from View3D.twmode (twmode can only be set to preprocessor defined values now). * Display custom transform orientation name in header when transforming in it (used to show "global" which isn't really correct).
2017-05-18Remove "Modern Viewport"Dalai Felinto
The "Modern Viewport" was an option in the Viewport panel that would use the new fancy wire frame code and some depth debugging functionality. This was introduced as a quick and dirty way to get the new drawing system showing in the viewport. Overtime we built a complete Draw Manager system, leaving this original approach deprecated which adds clutter to Blender code since it would be removed sooner or later. Note: The new fancy wireframes and related shaders (white out other objects) are still in Blender code, though you can't use them anymore. If we are to have any of those drawing options they should be integrated in the new draw manager, instead of integrated in the old drawing pipeline as it was originally coded.
2017-04-06Changes from custom-manipulators branchCampbell Barton
Minor changes from custom-manipulators branch, before larger changes are applied.
2016-10-24Viewport: move the background to the "modern" viewportDalai Felinto
This also leaves room for the gradient background Mike Erwin wants to implement.
2016-10-21Viewport: use depth shader to debug the depthDalai Felinto
At the moment this already shows that the depth is the same after the solid plates and in the very end of drawing, while they should be different. Later on we can adapt this to show different buffers we want to debug. I am using near=0.1, far=2.0 for my tests. I decided not to make a doversion for near/far because this is for debugging only

2016-10-07Custom Manipulators Core BackendJulian Eisel
This commit lands the core backend of the Custom Manipulators project onto the blender2.8 branch. It is a generic backend for managinig interactive on-screen controls that can be integrated into any 2D or 3D edito. It's also already integrated into the window-manager and editor code where needed. NOTE: The changes here should not be visible for users at all. It's really just a back-end patch. Neither does this include any RNA or Python integration. Of course, there's still lots of work ahead for custom manipulators, but this is a big milestone. WIP code that actually uses this backend can be found in the 'custom-manipulators' branch (previously called 'wiggly-widgets'). The work here isn't completely my own, all the initial work was done by @Antony Riakiotakis (psy-fi) and - although it has changed a lot since them - it's still the same in essence. He definitely deserves a big credit! Some changes in this patch were also done by @Campbell Barton (campbellbarton). Thank you guys! Merge accepted by @brecht and @merwin. 2016-10-07Avoid possible compatibility issues with tmp viewport flagsJulian Eisel
We can't prevent users from using this branch, so I'd say it's reasonable to be a bit careful about what we store to files. In this concrete case we were storing a bit-flag for temporary use (only during early viewport transition) in a bit-field that's saved in files. Doing so would mean we either can't reuse this bit later or we risk breaking files (admittedly, likely in a pretty minor way). Moved the bit-flag to a new bit-field which can be removed later.
2016-10-05Barebones for viewport code apart from 2.7x drawing codeDalai Felinto
A new option (set in the properties region) allows the user to pick the "new viewport" for the rendering (in the UI: Modern Viewport). For now we have a semi-blank file (view3d_draw.c) that can starts to take over the drawing pipeline. I can't guarantee we will be able to keep both drawing systems working through the entire 2.8 development, but it should do for now. also, we can use branches for some of the viewport development, but it's better to keep things in 2.8 whenever we can, so people can test it.

2015-12-17Revert "3D Cursor: Add option to lock it in place to prevent accidental ↵Campbell Barton
modification" This reverts commit a791153ca5e6f87d50396e188a3664b579884161. Rather users get feedback on changing cursor-depth, instead of preventing 3d-cursor placement entirely.
2015-12-133D Cursor: Add option to lock it in place to prevent accidental modificationJoshua Leung
This option helps users protect themselves from accidentally changing the cursor location (and not being aware of this until it has already caused problems) when drawing using Grease Pencil (or with other tools where this is equally likely). It seems to occur most frequently when using a tablet. Currently, this only affects the use of the mouse to set the cursor, as this is where most accidental invocations occur. (I'm aware that this change may turn out to be quite contentious. Fortunately, it should be simple to just revert this commit in that case :)

2015-02-12Viewport compositing - first codeAntony Riakiotakis
This commit introduces a few ready made effects for the 3D viewport and OpenGL rendering. Included effects are Depth of Field, accessible from camera view and screen space ambient occlusion. Those effects can be turned on and tweaked from the shading panel in the 3D viewport. Off screen rendering will use the settings of the current camera. WIP documentation can be found here: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Psy-Fi/Framebuffer_Post-processing

2014-04-03Fix T39517,Antony Riakiotakis
Issue here is that "show diffuse" option does not respect its intended purpose which is to be used only for masking. There are a couple of caveats here: Dyntopo and multires -always- have mask data enabled, and thus as soon as one goes to dyntopo mode or adds a multires modifier he would get the default grey color instead. Matcaps would break when nodes asked for a diffuse material color (this was broken before too). Solved by adding global material state for when matcaps are enabled. Also matcaps don't always played well with VBOs off. Added a few more missing updates for mask operators to notify show_diffuse property as changed. This was also needed on rebuilding dyntopo pbvh. Also make zero mask color duller again after artist feedback.

brushes, due to issues with color coded drawing or slow/buggy reading from such a buffer on some systems. In case multisample is enabled now, it uses an offscreen buffer for such drawing, which is not multisampled and so should not cause issues. This does mean there is some extra GPU memory usage when multisample is enabled, and we could optimize triple buffer to work together here somehow to share buffers, but it's better than having selection not working.

2013-01-22Matcap support in 3D Viewport.Ton Roosendaal
Full log is here: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.66/Usability#Matcap_in_3D_viewport Implementation notes: - Matcaps are an extension of Solid draw mode, and don't show in other drawmodes. (It's mostly intended to aid modeling/sculpt) - By design, Matcaps are a UI feature, and only stored locally for the UI itself, and won't affect rendering or materials. - Currently a set of 16 (GPL licensed) Matcaps have been compiled into Blender. It doesn't take memory or cpu time, until you use it. - Brush Icons and Matcaps use same code now, and only get generated/allocated on actually using it (instead of on startup). - The current set might get new or different images still, based on user feedback. - Matcap images are 512x512 pixels, so each image takes 1 Mb memory. Unused matcaps get freed immediately. The Matcap icon previews (128x128 pixels) stay in memory. - Loading own matcap image files will be added later. That needs design and code work to get it stable and memory-friendly. - The GLSL code uses the ID PreviewImage for matcaps. I tested it using the existing Material previews, which has its limits... especially for textured previews the normal-mapped matcap won't look good.
2012-12-17fix [#33501] Grease pencil in OpenGL renderCampbell Barton
With the view3d 'Render Only' option, grease pencil wouldn't draw, but for OpenGL render it did. Since grease pencil can be very useful in opengl renders, enable grease pencil drawing with 'Render Only' option in the viewport, and add a checkbox in the grease pencil header not to draw (unchecking each layer is annoying and applies to all spaces).
2012-10-16Cycles: non-camera viewport render border supportSergey Sharybin
This makes it possible to do a border render inside a viewport even when not looking through the camera. Render border could be defined by Ctrl-B shortcut (works for both camera render border and viewport render border). Camera render border could still be defined using Shift-B (so no muscule memory would be broken). Currently used a special flag of operator to do this, otherwise you'll need to either two operators with different poll callback or it could go into conflict with a border zoom, Border render of a viewport could be enabled/disabled in View panel using "Render Border" option.
