2018-04-01Merge branch 'master' into blender2.8Campbell Barton
- Undo that changes modes currently asserts, since undo is now screen data. Most likely we will change how object mode and workspaces work since it's not practical/maintainable at the moment. - Removed view_layer from particle settings (wasn't needed and complicated undo).
2018-04-01Removed by accident in last commitCampbell Barton
2018-03-31Undo: unified undo system w/ linear historyCampbell Barton
- Use a single undo history for all operations. - UndoType's are registered and poll the context to check if they should be used when performing an undo push. - Mode switching is used to ensure the state is correct before undo data is restored. - Some undo types accumulate changes (image & text editing) others store the state multiple times (with de-duplication). This is supported by checking UndoStack.mode `ACCUMULATE` / `STORE`. - Each undo step stores ID datablocks they use with utilities to help manage restoring correct ID's. Needed since global undo is now mixed with other modes undo. - Currently performs each undo step when going up/down history Previously this wasn't done, making history fail in some cases. This can be optimized to skip some combinations of undo steps. grease-pencil is an exception which has not been updated since it integrates undo into the draw-session. See D3113
2018-02-28WorkSpace: UI filtering for add-onsCampbell Barton
Allows for each workspace to have it's own add-ons on display. Filtering for: Panels, Menus, Keymaps & Manipulators. Automatically applies to add-ons at the moment. Access from workspace, toggled off by default once enabled, add-ons can be white-listed. See D3076

2018-02-23WM: add WM_keymap_poll functionCampbell Barton
Wrapps keymap poll, no functional changes.
2018-02-21Gawain: Add new context/vao manager.Clément Foucault
This allows allocation of VAOs from different opengl contexts and thread as long as the drawing happens in the same context. Allocation is thread safe as long as we abide by the "one opengl context per thread" rule. We can still free from any thread and actual freeing will occur at new vao allocation or next context binding.
2018-02-17Code cleanup: remove WM subwindows.Brecht Van Lommel
These no longer made much sense after regions were added, they just duplicated state that was already in the regions.
2018-02-14GPU: don't use multisample for entire window, only for offscreen 3D viewport.Brecht Van Lommel
Now that the new 3D viewport draws to a multisample offscreen buffer, there is no good reason anymore to create an entire multisample window and pay the performance/memory cost for other regions that don't need it. GL_MULTISAMPLE now only gets enabled for offscreen buffers, so we don't need to check for it throughout the UI code anymore. Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D3062

2017-12-04WM: message bus replacement for property notifiersCampbell Barton
Use dynamically generated message publish/subscribe so buttons and manipulators update properly. This resolves common glitches where manipulators weren't updating as well as the UI when add-ons exposed properties which hard coded listeners weren't checking for. Python can also publish/scribe changes via `bpy.msgbus`. See D2917
2017-11-09Remove unused screen-name storage in windowJulian Eisel
Checked in really old revisions, seems like this was never used. So doesn't matter for compatibility either (tested opening files saved with this in 2.49).
2017-11-09Cleanup: Refactor window matching after file read for readabilityJulian Eisel
Code should hopefully be much clearer now. Also removing code that's been commented out for a while, and was never executed in master.

2017-06-01Main Workspace IntegrationJulian Eisel
This commit does the main integration of workspaces, which is a design we agreed on during the 2.8 UI workshop (see https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:2.8/UI/Workshop_Writeup) Workspaces should generally be stable, I'm not aware of any remaining bugs (or I've forgotten them :) ). If you find any, let me know! (Exception: mode switching button might get out of sync with actual mode in some cases, would consider that a limitation/ToDo. Needs to be resolved at some point.) == Main Changes/Features * Introduces the new Workspaces as data-blocks. * Allow storing a number of custom workspaces as part of the user configuration. Needs further work to allow adding and deleting individual workspaces. * Bundle a default workspace configuration with Blender (current screen-layouts converted to workspaces). * Pressing button to add a workspace spawns a menu to select between "Duplicate Current" and the workspaces from the user configuration. If no workspaces are stored in the user configuration, the default workspaces are listed instead. * Store screen-layouts (`bScreen`) per workspace. * Store an active screen-layout per workspace. Changing the workspace will enable this layout. * Store active mode in workspace. Changing the workspace will also enter the mode of the new workspace. (Note that we still store the active mode in the object, moving this completely to workspaces is a separate project.) * Store an active render layer per workspace. * Moved mode switch from 3D View header to Info Editor header. * Store active scene in window (not directly workspace related, but overlaps quite a bit). * Removed 'Use Global Scene' User Preference option. * Compatibility with old files - a new workspace is created for every screen-layout of old files. Old Blender versions should be able to read files saved with workspace support as well. * Default .blend only contains one workspace ("General"). * Support appending workspaces. Opening files without UI and commandline rendering should work fine. Note that the UI is temporary! We plan to introduce a new global topbar that contains the workspace options and tabs for switching workspaces. == Technical Notes * Workspaces are data-blocks. * Adding and removing `bScreen`s should be done through `ED_workspace_layout` API now. * A workspace can be active in multiple windows at the same time. * The mode menu (which is now in the Info Editor header) doesn't display "Grease Pencil Edit" mode anymore since its availability depends on the active editor. Will be fixed by making Grease Pencil an own object type (as planned). * The button to change the active workspace object mode may get out of sync with the mode of the active object. Will either be resolved by moving mode out of object data, or we'll disable workspace modes again (there's a `#define USE_WORKSPACE_MODE` for that). * Screen-layouts (`bScreen`) are IDs and thus stored in a main list-base. Had to add a wrapper `WorkSpaceLayout` so we can store them in a list-base within workspaces, too. On the long run we could completely replace `bScreen` by workspace structs. * `WorkSpace` types use some special compiler trickery to allow marking structs and struct members as private. BKE_workspace API should be used for accessing those. * Added scene operators `SCENE_OT_`. Was previously done through screen operators. == BPY API Changes * Removed `Screen.scene`, added `Window.scene` * Removed `UserPreferencesView.use_global_scene` * Added `Context.workspace`, `Window.workspace` and `BlendData.workspaces` * Added `bpy.types.WorkSpace` containing `screens`, `object_mode` and `render_layer` * Added Screen.layout_name for the layout name that'll be displayed in the UI (may differ from internal name) == What's left? * There are a few open design questions (T50521). We should find the needed answers and implement them. * Allow adding and removing individual workspaces from workspace configuration (needs UI design). * Get the override system ready and support overrides per workspace. * Support custom UI setups as part of workspaces (hidden panels, hidden buttons, customizable toolbars, etc). * Allow enabling add-ons per workspace. * Support custom workspace keymaps. * Remove special exception for workspaces in linking code (so they're always appended, never linked). Depends on a few things, so best to solve later. * Get the topbar done. * Workspaces need a proper icon, current one is just a placeholder :) Reviewed By: campbellbarton, mont29 Tags: #user_interface, #bf_blender_2.8 Maniphest Tasks: T50521 Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D2451

2015-04-27Fix T44011: Ruler/Knife/Loop-cut fail in quad-viewCampbell Barton

2015-04-07Revert Sticky Keys (and everything related to that)Julian Eisel
Our current keymap doesn't give us enough room to make such changes in the event system. To fix small issues caused by this, we would need to do drastic changes in Blender's keymaps and internal handling. It was worth a try, but it didn't work. I can write down a more descriptive statement in a few days, but for now I need a break of this stuff.

2014-10-28Fix T41041: 'Delete keyframe' removes markers tooCampbell Barton
Operators that trigger UI events (but nothing else) were using 'CANCELLED' making it impossible to tell if an invoke function failed, or opened a menu.
2014-10-13Pie menus: Confirm thresholdAntony Riakiotakis
This commit adds a confirm threshold property to pie menus. Basically, this will confirm the pie menu automatically when the distance from the center of the pie exceeds that threshold without a need to release the pie button. The confirm threshold will only work if it is larger than the pie threshold. The confirmation actually occur when the mouse stops moving, to allow multiple pie menus to be better linked together, (see below) This functionality also facilitates the ability for chained pie menus by dragging. Basically, a pie menu item can be a call_menu_pie operator and the new pie menu will still use the original pie menu release event for confirmation. This should allow for quick, gesture based navigation in pie menu hierarchies (going back in the hierarchy is still not supported though) There will be a demonstration pie in the official add-on soon
2014-01-29Option to lock the interface while renderingSergey Sharybin
Added function called WM_set_locked_interface which does two things: - Prevents event queue from being handled, so no operators (see below) or values are even possible to run or change. This prevents any kind of "destructive" action performed from user while rendering. - Locks interface refresh for regions which does have lock set to truth in their template. Currently it's just a 3D viewport, but in the future more regions could be considered unsafe, or we could want to lock different parts of interface when doing different jobs. This is needed because 3D viewport could be using or changing the same data as renderer currently uses, leading to threading conflict. Notifiers are still allowed to handle, so render progress is seen on the screen, but would need to doublecheck on this, in terms some notifiers could be changing the data. For now interface locking happens for render job only in case "Lock Interface" checkbox is enabled. Other tools like backing would also benefit of this option. It is possible to mark operator as safe to be used in locked interface mode by adding OPTYPE_ALLOW_LOCKED bit to operator template flags. This bit is completely handled by wm_evem_system, not with operator run routines, so it's still possible to run operators from drivers and handlers. Currently allowed image editor navigation and zooming. Reviewers: brecht, campbellbarton Reviewed By: campbellbarton Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D142
2013-10-15Fix [#37077] User prefs > Input and Outliner Keymaps mismatch in representation.Bastien Montagne
Remove KeyMap mode from outliner, was an old half-finished features redondant with user preferences settings... Also moved key map item's "event type to map type" and map type defines at WM level, this is too much generic to be at RNA level. Also added a check in versionning code to convert all outdated outliner modes to a valid one (seems old 'verse' ones were not handled as well). Thanks to Brecht for reviews and advices!

2012-01-11Longer names support for all ID and other object namesSergey Sharybin
This commit extends limit of ID and objects to 64 (it means 63 meaning characters and 1 for zero-terminator). CustomData layers names are also extended. Changed DNA structures and all places where length constants were hardcoded. All names which are "generating" from ID block should be limited by MAX_ID_NAME-2, all non-id names now has got own define called MAX_NAME which should be used all over for non-id names to make further name migration stuff easier. All name fields in DNA now have comment with constant which corresponds to hardcoded numeric value which should make it easier to further update this limits or even switch to non-hardcoded values in DNA. Special thanks to Campbell who helped figuring out some issues and helped a lot in finding all cases where hardcoded valued were still used in code. Both of forwards and backwards compatibility is stored with blender versions newer than January 5, 2011. Older versions had issue with placing null-terminator to DNA strings on file load which will lead to some unpredictable behavior or even crashes.

2011-08-06KEYMAP REFACTORINGBrecht Van Lommel
Diff Keymaps User edited keymaps now no longer override the builtin keymaps entirely, but rather save only the difference and reapply those changes. This means they can stay better in sync when the builtin keymaps change. The diff/patch algorithm is not perfect, but better for the common case where only a few items are changed rather than entire keymaps The main weakness is that if a builtin keymap item changes, user modification of that item may need to be redone in some cases. Keymap Editor The most noticeable change here is that there is no longer an "Edit" button for keymaps, all are editable immediately, but a "Restore" buttons shows for keymaps and items that have been edited. Shortcuts for addons can also be edited in the keymap editor. Addons Addons now should only modify the new addon keyconfiguration, the keymap items there will be added to the builtin ones for handling events, and not get lost when starting new files. Example code of register/unregister: km = wm.keyconfigs.addon.keymaps.new("3D View", space_type="VIEW_3D") km.keymap_items.new('my.operator', 'ESC', 'PRESS') km = wm.keyconfigs.addon.keymaps["3D View"] km.keymap_items.remove(km.keymap_items["my.operator"]) Compatibility The changes made are not forward compatible, i.e. if you save user preferences with newer versions, older versions will not have key configuration changes that were made.
2011-05-12== Radial control ==Nicholas Bishop
Patch to make the radial control more generic with RNA. Patch was reviewed here: http://codereview.appspot.com/4280080/ Prior to this update, the radial control code in trunk had generic parts of the radial control implemented as an incomplete operator within WM. Then each different user of the radial control had to implement a separate operator to actually pass in specific brush data -- e.g. sculpt's brush size, vpaint's brush size, etc. This patch removes all the extra operators and makes the WM operator do everything. It now takes several RNA path strings as its properties -- the only required property is data_path, which specifies the data to be modified by the radial control. The other paths affect display in various ways, e.g. rotation, color, etc. In addition to decreasing some duplicate paint brush code, these updates make it pretty easy to enable radial control for other purposes (and it can be set up entirely though python or keymaps, no extra C code needed.)
