2016-01-15Cycles-Bake: Custom Baking passesDalai Felinto
The combined pass is built with the contributions the user finds fit. It is useful for lightmap baking, as well as non-view dependent effects baking. The manual will be updated once we get closer to the 2.77 release. Meanwhile the new page can be found here: http://dalaifelinto.com/blender-manual/render/cycles/baking.html Reviewers: sergey, brecht Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D1674

2015-08-23This commit makes it possible to select the sort mode whenever we invoke an ↵Thomas Beck
operator. It's needed especially for the menu entry "recover auto save" where you'd like to have the files sorted by date most of the time but it could be useful in other places too. There should be no functional change in other areas, I just added the missing parameter (FILE_SORT_ALPHA). Was a request from @sebastian_k at #BCon13, so at least one guy needs it ;) Reviewers: mont29 Reviewed By: mont29 Subscribers: sebastian_k Differential Revision: https://developer.blender.org/D1476
2015-06-11Expose debug type into the interfaceSergey Sharybin
This way it is now possible to select which exact debug pass is to be used by the render engine. Accessible from the Passes panel. Currently it could only be one debug pass, in the future we can make menus and image users smarter and support multiple passes of the same type.

2015-01-09Transfer Data: add main core code and operators.Bastien Montagne
This add code needed to map a CD data layout from source mesh towards destination one, and code needed to actually transfer data, using BKE's mesh remap generated data. This allows to transfer most CD layers (vgroups, vcols, uvs...) as well as fake, boolean ones (like smooth/sharp edges/faces, etc.). Some types are not yet transferable, mainly shape keys, this is known TODO. Data transfer can also use some advanced mixing in some cases (mostly, vgroups and vcols). Notes: * New transfer operators transfer data from active object towards selected ones. * Modifier will be committed separately. * Old weight transfer code (for vgroups) is kept for now, mostly because it is the only usable one in weightpaint mode (it transfers from selected object to active one, this is not sensible in Object mode, but needed in WeightPaint one). This will be addressed soon. Again, heavily reviewed and enhanced by Campbell, thanks!
2014-05-03Bake API - bpy.ops.object.bake()Dalai Felinto
New operator that can calls a bake function to the current render engine when available. This commit provides no feature for the users, but allows external engines to be accessed by the operator and be integrated with the baking api. The API itself is simple. Blender sends a populated array of BakePixels to the renderer, and gets back an array of floats with the result. The Blender Internal (and multires) system is still running independent, but we eventually will pipe it through the API as well. Cycles baking will come next as a separated commit Python Operator: ---------------- The operator can be called with some arguments, or a user interface can be created for it. In that case the arguments can be ommited and the interface can expose the settings from bpy.context.scene.render.bake bpy.ops.object.bake(type='COMBINED', filepath="", width=512, height=512, margin=16, use_selected_to_active=False, cage_extrusion=0, cage="", normal_space='TANGENT', normal_r='POS_X', normal_g='POS_Y', normal_b='POS_Z', save_mode='INTERNAL', use_clear=False, use_split_materials=False, use_automatic_name=False) Note: external save mode is currently disabled. Supported Features: ------------------ * Margin - Baked result is extended this many pixels beyond the border of each UV "island," to soften seams in the texture. * Selected to Active - bake shading on the surface of selected object to the active object. The rays are cast from the lowpoly object inwards towards the highpoly object. If the highpoly object is not entirely involved by the lowpoly object, you can tweak the rays start point with Cage Extrusion. For even more control of the cage you can use a Cage object. * Cage Extrusion - distance to use for the inward ray cast when using selected to active * Custom Cage - object to use as cage (instead of the lowpoly object). * Normal swizzle - change the axis that gets mapped to RGB * Normal space - save as tangent or object normal spaces Supported Passes: ----------------- Any pass that is supported by Blender renderlayer system. Though it's up to the external engine to provide a valid enum with its supported passes. Normal passes get a special treatment since we post-process them to converted and "swizzled" Development Notes for External Engines: --------------------------------------- (read them in bake_api.c) * For a complete implementation example look at the Cycles Bake commit (next). 2014-03-21Patch T22084: Robert Penner Easing Equations for FCurvesJoshua Leung
This commit introduces support for a number of new interpolation types which are useful for motion-graphics work. These define a number of "easing equations" (basically, equations which define some preset ways that one keyframe transitions to another) which reduce the amount of manual work (inserting and tweaking keyframes) to achieve certain common effects. For example, snappy movements, and fake-physics such as bouncing/springing effects. The additional interpolation types introduced in this commit can be found in many packages and toolkits (notably Qt and all modern web browsers). For more info and a few live demos, see [1] and [2]. 2013-03-23A major code update for making the DNA file specification of Freestyle settingsTamito Kajiyama
and RNA for it independent of the build flag for enabling Freestyle. Suggested by Sergey Sharybin through a code review of the branch. * Many #ifdef WITH_FREESTYLE blocks were removed to always have Freestyle-specific DNA file specification and RNA for it built in Blender. This will allow Freestyle setting survive even when a non-Freestyle build is used for loading and saving files. It is noted that operations are still conditionally built through #ifdef WITH_FREESTYLE blocks. * To this end, new blenkernel files BKE_freestyle.h and intern/freestyle.c have been added. All API functions in FRS_freestyle_config.h as well as some of those in FRS_freestyle.h were moved to the new files. Now the relocated API functions have BKE_ prefix instead of FRS_.

2013-03-18Merge of the PyNodes branch (aka "custom nodes") into trunk.Lukas Toenne
PyNodes opens up the node system in Blender to scripters and adds a number of UI-level improvements. === Dynamic node type registration === Node types can now be added at runtime, using the RNA registration mechanism from python. This enables addons such as render engines to create a complete user interface with nodes. Examples of how such nodes can be defined can be found in my personal wiki docs atm [1] and as a script template in release/scripts/templates_py/custom_nodes.py [2]. === Node group improvements === Each node editor now has a tree history of edited node groups, which allows opening and editing nested node groups. The node editor also supports pinning now, so that different spaces can be used to edit different node groups simultaneously. For more ramblings and rationale see (really old) blog post on code.blender.org [3]. The interface of node groups has been overhauled. Sockets of a node group are no longer displayed in columns on either side, but instead special input/output nodes are used to mirror group sockets inside a node tree. This solves the problem of long node lines in groups and allows more adaptable node layout. Internal sockets can be exposed from a group by either connecting to the extension sockets in input/output nodes (shown as empty circle) or by adding sockets from the node property bar in the "Interface" panel. Further details such as the socket name can also be changed there. 2013-01-23rigidbody: Add rigid body constraintsSergej Reich
Constraints connect two rigid bodies. Depending on which constraint is used different degrees of freedom are limited, e.g. a hinge constraint only allows the objects to rotate around a common axis. Constraints are implemented as individual objects and bahave similar to rigid bodies in terms of adding/removing/validating. The position and orientation of the constraint object is the pivot point of the constraint. Constraints have their own group in the rigid body world. To make connecting rigid bodies easier, there is a "Connect" operator that creates an empty objects with a rigid body constraint connecting the selected objects to active. Currently the following constraints are implemented: * Fixed * Point * Hinge * Slider * Piston * Generic Note: constraint limits aren't animatable yet).
2013-01-23rigidbody: Add DNA/RNA/BKE infrastructure for the rigid body simSergej Reich
This is just the basic structure, the simulation isn't hooked up yet. Scenes get a pointer to a rigid body world that holds rigid body objects. Objects get a pointer to a rigdid body object. Both rigid body world and objects aren't used directly in the simulation and only hold information to create the actual physics objects. Physics objects are created when rigid body objects are validated. In order to keep blender and bullet objects in sync care has to be taken to either call appropriate set functions or flag objects for validation. Part of GSoC 2010 and 2012. 2012-12-30Add symmetrize operator for dynamic-topology sculpt modeNicholas Bishop
2012-12-28This commit frees list ui items from their dependencies to Panel, and hence ↵Bastien Montagne
from all the limitations this implied (mostly, the "only one list per panel" one). It introduces a new (py-extendable and registrable) RNA type, UIList (roughly similar to Panel one), which currently contains only "standard" list's scroll pos and size (but may be expended to include e.g. some filtering data, etc.). This now makes lists completely independent from Panels! This UIList has a draw_item callback which allows to customize items' drawing from python, that all addons can now use. Incidentally, this also greatly simplifies the C code of this widget, as we do not code any "special case" here anymore! To make all this work, other changes were also necessary: * Now all buttons (uiBut struct) have a 'custom_data' void pointer, used currently to store the uiList struct associated with a given uiLayoutListBox. * DynamicPaintSurface now exposes a new bool, use_color_preview (readonly), saying whether that surface has some 3D view preview data or not. * UILayout class has now four new (static) functions, to get the actual icon of any RNA object (important e.g. with materials or textures), and to get an enum item's UI name, description and icon. * UILayout's label() func now takes an optional 'icon_value' integer parameter, which if not zero will override the 'icon' one (mandatory to use "custom" icons as generated for material/texture/... previews). Note: not sure whether we should add that one to all UILayout's prop funcs? Note: will update addons using template list asap.
2012-12-23Add keying "options" parameter to keyframe_insert() bpy_rna function, so now ↵Bastien Montagne
you can enable 'INSERTKEY_NEEDED', 'INSERTKEY_VISUAL' and/or 'INSERTKEY_XYZ_TO_RGB' when you directly key some property from python script (previously those options were only available through keyingsets). Thanks to Campbell for review!

2012-06-29Extended modes for snapping in the node editor.Lukas Toenne
The transform operators in nodes will now use the unselected nodes to generate snapping points. Unlike object snapping, node snapping works for the x/y axes separately and snaps node borders to same borders of unselected nodes. The sensitive area for node borders extends over the whole view2D range, to enable simple alignment of nodes in both x and y direction. For snap points in the node editor an additional enum value is stored to indicate the type of node border (left/right/top/bottom). This works as a constraint on possible node alignments: only same border types align with each other.

2012-05-24Restoring Group Colours for Animation Channels - Part 1Joshua Leung
This commit restores the group colours support for F-Curves and F-Curve Groups in the DopeSheet and Graph Editors. Currently the relevant settings for groups are only exposed via RNA, but a followup commit will add support for automatically setting these colours. By default, DopeSheet and Graph Editors are set to display these colours if/when they are available. This functionality used to be in 2.48, and is a useful mechanism for visually distinguishing between channels for different controls when animating (if group colours are used on the rigs too).
