they do.
I've added a separate camera unit type. It's a bit strange to have an exception for
this but it ensures units are shown in familiar millimeters and it also ensures
backwards compatibility.

shows both title safe and action safe areas following more modern standards.
Patch #32822 by Harley Acheson, full description:
Our current "title safe" camera display option is anachronistic. It shows a
border of 10% on all edges, which used to be the recommended title safe area
for 4:3 content on standard definition CRT televisions. However we are very
unlikely to create new projects that output for SD TV at that aspect ratio.
This patch change the option to "safe areas" with and indicates the
"title safe" area (also known as "graphic safe") as well as the "action safe"
area. "Title Safe" is an area visible by all reasonably maintained sets, where
text was certain not to be cut off. "Action Safe" is a larger area that
represented where a "perfect" set (with high precision to allow less
overscanning) would cut the image off.
The current recommendation for Action Safe is 3.5% on all edges, which is the
maxiumum overscan for TVs now. The recommended title safe is now 5% vertically
and 10% horizontally for content that is of wider aspect ratio than 4:3. The
reason for the difference between horizontal versus vertical margin is because
wider content would be letterboxed on an older 4:3 television, giving it
additional margin.

For sample images see:

http://www.dalaifelinto.com/?p=389 (equidistant)
The 'use_panorama' option is now part of a new Camera type: 'Panorama'.
Created two other panorama cameras:
- Equisolid: most of lens in the market simulate this lens - e.g. Nikon, Canon, ...)
this works as a real lens up to an extent. The final result takes the
sensor dimensions into account also.
.:. to simulate a Nikon DX2S with a 10.5mm lens do:
sensor: 23.7 x 15.7
fisheye lens: 10.5
fisheye fov: 180
render dimensions: 4288 x 2848
- Equidistant: this is not a real lens model. Although the old equidistant lens simulate
this lens. The result is always as a circular fisheye that takes the whole sensor
(in other words, it doesn't take the sensor into consideration).
This is perfect for fulldomes ;)
For the UI we have 10 to 360 as soft values and 10 to 3600 as hard values (because we can).

Note, this is not a real simulation of the light path through the lens.

Thanks Brecht for the fix, suggestions and code review.
Kudos for the dome community for keeping me stimulated on the topic since 2009 ;)
Patch partly implemented during lab time at VisGraf, IMPA - Rio de Janeiro.

Note about long lines: I did not touch to two pieces of code (because I don’t see any way to keep a nicely formated, compact code, with shorter lines):
* The node types definitions into rna_nodetree_types.h
* The vgroup name functions into rna_particle.c
|
|
Addresses:
* C++ comments.
* Spaces after if/for/while/switch statements.
* Spaces around assignment operators.
|
|
* Tweak description of sensor fit property.
* Fix sensor display for auto and vertical fit.
* Fix incorrect aspect ratio for camera frame drawing.

3d view, deduplicating the complex code for setting up the viewplane.

|
- Added support of variable size sensor width and height.
- Added presets for most common cameras, also new presets can be defined by user.
- Added option to control which dimension (vertical or horizontal) of sensor
size defines FOV. Old behavior of automatic FOV calculation is also kept.
- Renderer, viewport, game engine and collada importer/exporter should
deal fine with this changes. Other exporters would be updated soon.

returns 4 points for the camera frame, without this its very hard to know if a point is in the camera view or not, without rewriting blenders internal logic in python.

MAKE_ID, FILE_MAXDIR, moved the generic defines to BLI_utildefines.h.

Removed the camera->angle from DNA, now it just uses RNA to handle the conversions.
Really need to convert this to physical units at some point... :/

It's not range_ui, but range itself. if someone think that for some reason it's better to keep the visible range up to 100 (the current one) it could be as well.

* Property update functions no longer get context, instead they get only
Main and Scene. The RNA api was intended to be as context-less as
possible, since it doesn't really matter who is changing the property,
everything that uses the property should be updated.
* There's still one exception case that use it now, screen operations
still depend on context too much. It also revealed a few places using
context where they shouldn't.
* Ideally Scene shouldn't be passed, but much of Blender still depends on
it, should be dropped when we try to support multiple scene editing.
Change was planned for a while, but need this now to be able to call
update without a context pointer.

% sign for percentage assuming it is between 0-100, while factor is
for values 0-1.
Move collision setting absorption from modifier to collision settings,
was inconsistent to have it there as the only one, and made it have
range 0.0-1.0 instead of 0-100.

* UI layout for scene buttons has quite some changes, I tried to
better organize things according to the pipeline, and also showing
important properties by default, and collapsing less important ones.
Some changes compared to 2.4x:
* Panorama is now a Camera property.
* Sequence and Compositing are now enabled by default, but will only
do something when there is a node tree using nodes, or a strip in the
sequence editor.
* Enabling Full Sample now automatically enables Save Buffers too.
* Stamp option to include info in file is removed, it now simply always
does this if one of the stamp infos is enabled.
* Xvid, H.264 and Ogg Theora are now directly in the file format menu,
but still using FFMPEG. Unfortunately Ogg is broken at the moment
(also in 2.4x), so that's disabled. And Xvid crashes on 64bit linux,
maybe solvable by upgrading extern/xvidcore/, using ubuntu libs makes
it work.
* Organized file format menu by image/movie types.
Added:
* Render layers RNA wrapped, operatorized, layouted.
* FFMPEG format/codec options are now working.
Defaults changed:
* Compositing & Sequencer enabled.
* Tiles set to 8x8.
* Time/Date/Frame/Scene/Camera/Filename enabled for stamp.
|
|
* Added icon to property and enum property items. The latter is
responsible for the large number of files changed.
* For RNA functions, added PROP_RNAPTR flag to ask for a PointerRNA
as argument instead of a C pointer, instead of doing it implicitly
with the AnyType type.
* Material: properly wrap diffuse/specular param variables, and
rename some things for consistency.
* MaterialTextureSlot: added "enabled" property (ma->septex).
* Image: make animated property editable.
* Image Editor: make some things editable, notifiers, respect state.
* Context: fix issue with screen not being set as ID.

|
* Tooltip updates by William Reynish. Thanks!
|
|
* Added an icon entry to RNA structs, instead of the UI_GetIconRNA
function, to keep code together a bit more and make the lookup
faster.
|
|
|
|
* Automatically do us++ and us-- reference counting in ID pointer
set functions.
* Added an enum property callback to dynamically vary the list of
available items.
* Added some functions to do removes on pointers and collections
runtime defined for RNA and using ID properties.
* Constraints now have owner/target space wrapped, and most
pointers made editable. They can be ported to use python layouts.
* Also other pointers made editable that I think are see now with
the automatic reference counting.
