Since {rB46aa70cb486d}, using `NC_SPACE | ND_SPACE_VIEW3D` as notifier is
restricted to space data as a reference. This was still used though for
RNA updates in other places (namely `rna_camera`, `rna_scene`,
`rna_animviz`), and passing NULL would automatically set the notifier
reference to the owner id. Above commit would happily filter these out,
leading to missing refreshes.
Now use more specific notifiers (in case of animviz a new
`ND_DRAW_ANIMVIZ` was added).
This was reported for Camera background images btw.

There was a discrepancy between the Tooltip of the Camera's Background Image that controls the opacity of the image and the operator's name that reads Alpha. The tooltip says **"Image opacity to blend the image against the background color"**, so it was renamed to Opacity to follow the tooltip.
The decision for this change is that the naming Alpha is not the most appropriated, since it has nothing to do if a loaded image has an embedded Alpha channel or not.

Note that you still have to make overrides of obdata IDs by hand (and
deal with remapping of pointers yourself) for now.
|
|
These are now set from DNA defaults.

The old layout of `PointerRNA` was confusing for historic reasons:
```
typedef struct PointerRNA {
struct {
void *data;
} id;
struct StructRNA *type;
void *data;
} PointerRNA;
```
This patch updates it to:
```
typedef struct PointerRNA {
struct ID *owner_id;
struct StructRNA *type;
void *data;
} PointerRNA;
```
Throughout the code base `id.data` was replaced with `owner_id`.
Furthermore, many explicit pointer type casts were added which
were implicit before. Some type casts to `ID *` were removed.

Migrate old legacy code to the draw mamager/object mode. The old legacy
version did not work with wireframe. By migrating the code
to modern draw manager code we have mode control on the drawing process.
Still background images do not work with OIT, the cause seems to be that the transparent pixels are treated as background pixels.
Also There are some artifacts when working with Holdouts and DoF, this
is because the draw engines do not pass the correct alpha values.

It makes no sense to control this with a slider, since it became difficult to scale in normal ranges, and scale factors aren't represented well this way.

There is now a checkbox to enable/disable depth of field per camera. For Eevee
this replace the scene level setting. For Cycles there is now only an F-Stop
value, no longer a Radius.
Existing files are converted based on Cycles or Eevee being set in the scene.

This patch implements new cache system.
Aim is to give user more control over cache, so it can be maximally
utilized. This is done through sequencer timeline side panel
in category proxy & cache.
Cached images are also visualized in timeline, controled by
sequencer timeline view->cache menu
Functional changes:
- NOT use IMB_moviecache API
- refactor names of cached image types
- each scene owns 1 sequencer cache
- merge preprocess cache into per-sequencer cache
- cache links images rendered per frame in order as they are created
- add cache content visualization tool
- add RNA properties to control the cache

to be used only as camera reference images.
For 3D viewport references,
background images can be used, see: D2827

The idea of pole merge is to fade interocular distance after a certain
altitude to zero when altitude goes closer to a pole. This should prevent
annoyances looking up in the sky or down to the bottom.
Works for both panorama and perspective cameras when Spherical Stereo
is enabled.

Previous number of digits after point was not really useful, especially
for the interocular distance where it's quite common to go sub-cm precision.

That was rather confusing to slide the value.
Perhaps makesrna can check cases like this?

This is a new option for panorama cameras to render
stereo that can be used in virtual reality devices
The option is available under the camera panel when Multi-View is enabled (Views option in the Render Layers panel)
Known limitations:
------------------
* Parallel convergence is not supported (you need to set a convergence distance really high to simulate this effect).
* Pivot was not supposed to affect the render but it does, this has to be looked at, but for now set it to CENTER
* Derivatives in perspective camera need to be pre-computed or we shuld get rid of kcam->dx/dy (Sergey words, I don't fully grasp the implication shere)
* This works in perspective mode and in panorama mode. However, for fully benefit from this effect in perspective mode you need to render a cube map. (there is an addon for this, developed separately, perhaps we could include it in master).
* We have no support for "neck distance" at the moment. This is supposed to help with objects at short distances.
* We have no support to rotate the "Up Axis" of the stereo plane. Meaning, we hardcode 0,0,1 as UP, and create the stereo pair related to that. (although we could take the camera local UP when rendering panoramas, this wouldn't work for perspective cameras.
* We have no support for interocular distance attenuation based on the proximity of the poles (which helps to reduce the pole rotation effect/artifact).
THIS NEEDS DOCS - both in 2.78 release log and the Blender manual.
Meanwhile you can read about it here: http://code.blender.org/2015/03/1451
This patch specifically dates from March 2015, as you can see in the code.blender.org post. Many thanks to all the reviewers, testers and minor sponsors who helped me maintain spherical-stereo for 1 year.
All that said, have fun with this. This feature was what got me started with Multi-View development (at the time what I was looking for was Fulldome stereo support, but the implementation is the same). In order to make this into Blender I had to make it aiming at a less-specic user-case Thus Multi-View started. (this was December 2012, during Siggraph Asia and a chat I had with Paul Bourke during the conference). I don't have the original patch anymore, but you can find a re-based version of it from March 2013, right before I start with the Multi-View project https://developer.blender.org/P332
