Excluding a collection also changes the exclude setting on all child collections
so that it is possible to selectively enable some children without the parent
being enabled.
This change makes it so that if you unexclude the parent, the exclude setting
of children are restored again instead of being permanently lost.
Original patch by Szymon with modifications by Brecht.

Note this only changes cases where the variable was declared inside

Depsgraph RNA pointer would generate infinite loop in override comparisons.
Depsgraph pointer should never be considered here anyway, this is purely
runtime data.

Previously this silently cleared the view layers active object.

It is not allowed to do tagging or updates while dependency graph is
in the middle of evaluation.
This is something what is simple to violate from python code. This
change adds some sanity checks.
The request to update view layer or dependency graph will raise an
exception in Python now, so it's easy for scripters to notice.
Tagging for update will do silent return unless running with debug
command line argument. This is because it's a bit tricky to know
which exact dependency graph corresponds to a context from which
an update tag was triggered.

Users now can turn on in a viewport collections that are temporarily
hidden (eye) in the view layer.
Design task: T61327
As for the implementation, I had to decouple the visibility in the
depsgraph from the visibility in the view layer.
Also there is a "bug" that in a way was there before which is some
operators (e.g., writing a text inside of a text object, tab into edit
mode) run regardless of the visibility of the active object. The bug was
present already (with object type visibility restriction) in 2.80 so if
we decide to tackle it, can be done separately (I have a patch for it
though P1132).

Support per-viewport collection visibility options.
Note 1: There is no way to show a collection that was not visible before
due to depsgraph. Otherwise we would risk having all the collections in
the depsgraph and I believe this is not the idea.
An alternative would be to have a new depsgraph for viewports that are
not local. Something to keep in mind if we do per-viewport current frame
in the future.
So for now what we do is to only allow collections visibility to be
disabled/hidden in this mode.
Note 2: hide_viewport (the eye icon) doesn't really matter for
depsgraph. So after the merge we can still ignore it to show the
collections locally in a viewport with no problems for the depsgraph.

Currently unused, but will allow to keep of an owner of the depsgraph.
Could also simplify other APIs in the future by avoiding to pass bmain
explicitly to relation update functions and things like that.

The old layout of `PointerRNA` was confusing for historic reasons:
```
typedef struct PointerRNA {
struct {
void *data;
} id;
struct StructRNA *type;
void *data;
} PointerRNA;
```
This patch updates it to:
```
typedef struct PointerRNA {
struct ID *owner_id;
struct StructRNA *type;
void *data;
} PointerRNA;
```
Throughout the code base `id.data` was replaced with `owner_id`.
Furthermore, many explicit pointer type casts were added which
were implicit before. Some type casts to `ID *` were removed.

This change ensures that operators which needs access to evaluated data
first makes sure there is a dependency graph.
Other accesses to the dependency graph made it more explicit about
whether they just need a valid dependency graph pointer or whether they
expect the graph to be already evaluated.
This replaces OPTYPE_USE_EVAL_DATA which is now removed.
Some general rules about usage of accessors:
- Drawing is expected to happen from a fully evaluated dependency graph.
There is now a function to access it, which will in the future control
that dependency graph is actually evaluated.
This check is not yet done because there are some things to be taken
care about first: for example, post-update hooks might leave scene in
a state where something is still tagged for update.
- All operators which needs to access evaluated state must use
CTX_data_ensure_evaluated_depsgraph().
This function replaces OPTYPE_USE_EVAL_DATA.
The call is generally to be done in the very beginning of the
operator, prior other logic (unless this is some comprehensive
operator which might or might not need access to an evaluated state).
This call is never to be used from a loop.
If some utility function requires evaluated state of dependency graph
the graph is to be passed as an explicit argument. This way it is
clear that no evaluation happens in a loop or something like this.
- All cases which needs to know dependency graph pointer, but which
doesn't want to actually evaluate it can use old-style function
CTX_data_depsgraph_pointer(), assuming that underlying code will
ensure dependency graph is evaluated prior to accessing it.
- The new functions are replacing OPTYPE_USE_EVAL_DATA, so now it is
explicit and local about where dependency graph is being ensured.
This commit also contains some fixes of wrong usage of evaluation
functions on original objects. Ideally should be split out, but in
reality with all the APIs being renamed is quite tricky.

Better to make internal code naming match official/UI naming to some
extent, this will reduce confusion in the future.
This is 'breaking' scripts and files that would use that feature, but
since it is not yet officially supported nor exposed in 2.80, as far
as that release is concerned, it is effectively
a 'no functional changes' commit.

Users could change the master collection flags, but they should not.
That would not effectively affect the master collection objects
(depsgraph flag evaluation ignores master collection flags).
However we use the layer collection flags of the parent collection when creating
a new child collection.
We *could* solve this differently by creating a new RNA type for the
master collection (and layer collection) and hook this with rna refine.
But this patch seems to work well enough and it is simpler.

New icons from Andrzej Ambroż / Jendrzych:
- Bespoke icon for creating new Collections
- Special icons for Rigid Body and Rigid Body Constraints (Physics Properties)
- New icons for Holdout and Indirect Only toggles in the Outliner
- New generic Cursor icon for cases that are not related to either Orientation or Pivot
Many other tweaks to existing icons, including:
- Add & Remove Keyframe
- Weight Paint & Collision Modifier
- Tablet Pressure Sensitivity
- Playback icons
|
|
The goal is to prevent assignment of temporary or evaluated meshes
to objects from the main database.
Majority of the change is actually related on passing reports around.
On a positive side there are more error prints which can become more
visible to scripters.
There are still possible further improvements in the related areas.
For example, disable user counting for evaluated ID datablocks when
assignment happens. But can also happen later on as a separate
improvement.

No major API change here, only in the outliner restriction column
variables (e.g., show_restrict_column_selectable > show_restrict_column_select).
* Get rid of _INSTANCE (introduced on b1af68200159).
* Differentiate (everywhere but the API) between HIDE (temporary) and VIEWPORT (global).
* Use the expected icon for restrict viewport (same as objects and modifiers).
* selectable > select
|
|
In the outliner we don't have yet a clear distinction for the users of when
to use each of the visibility settings.
This changes that by properly naming the property and their tooltips.
I'm also unifying the naming between the rna properties and the outliner
for collections and objects (e.g., so collection and object hide_select
have the same tooltips everywhere).
The API did not change.

See T61578 for discussions and mockups.
Visibility Options
==================
We are adding more granular control over restriction columns in the outliner,
exposing "indirect only" and "holdout" as options, and change the way
users enable/disable collections in a viewlayer.
We also rename the object viewport restriction to hide instance.
So the options we have are:
Collection
----------
* Render Visibility
* Instance Visibility
* Selectable
(View) Layer Collection
-----------------------
* Enable
* Holdout
* Indirect Only
* Viewport
Shortcuts
=========
Isolate Collection
------------------
* Ctr + click isolates the collection.
It turns all its parents and children "visible", and all the other
collections "invisible".
If ALL the collections were already properly set, we re-set the
collections to their default value.
Set Collection Inside Collections and Objects
---------------------------------------------
* Shift + click: Set/unset inside collections and objects.
We only set objects values as well when we are in View Layer mode and
(obviously) when the objects have a matching property.
Icons
=====
Little reminder that we will need better icons for holdout, indirect only, and
probably instanced (nothing wrong with the current, but it differs from
the proposal when it is turned off).
Also, we need to decide where do we want the modifier/bones/... icons to
be (in which column) and ideally make sure their icons match the ones we
use for collections/objects.
At the moment those are using the screen icon, which is not being used
by collections.

Better to communicate the current state clearly until this is supported,
for now only object visibility can be animated.
|
|
This allows to update base flags to a proper state then object's restriction
flags are changed, without requiring to re-evaluate an entire tree of flags.
Some old unused flags are were removed by this change, and also disabling
menu items might not work the same as before. This is something we can bring
back if it's really needed (the way how flags are handled did change since
that interface code was done anyway, so code was looking weird anyway).

While \file doesn't need an argument, it can't have another doxy
command after it.
|
|
Move \ingroup onto same line to be more compact and
make it clear the file is in the group.
|
|
Now collection and objects can be either:
* Disabled for all the view layers.
* Hidden for a view layer but not necessarily for all others.
* Visible for a view layer but not necessarily for all others.
Regarding icons: Whatever we decide to use for the "Hidden for all view
layers" needs to be a toggle-like icon. Because when viewing "Scenes"
instead of "View Layer" in the outliner we should be able to edit the
collection "Hidden for all the view layers" as an on/off option.
The operators are accessible via a Visibility context menu or shortcuts:
* Ctrl + Click: Isolate collection (use shift to extend).
* Alt + Click: Disable collection.
* Shift + Click: Hide/Show collection and its children (objects and collections)
Things yet to be tackled:
* Object outliner context menu can also get a Visibility sub-menu.
* Get better icons for viewport enable/disable.
Note:
* When using emulate 3 button mouse alt+click is used for 2d panning.
In this case users have to use the operator from the menu.
See T57857 for discussion.

[re-committing]
We still control this in the viewport collections visibility menu. But
now we are actually changing the visibility of the collections, not of
the objects.
If a collection is indirectly invisible (because one of its parents are
invisible) we gray it out.
Also if you click directly in the collection names, it "isolates" the
collection by hiding all collections, and showing the direct parents and
all the children of the selected collection.
Development Note:
Right now I'm excluding the hidden collections from the depsgraph.
Thus the need for tagging relations to update.
If this proves to be too slow, we can change.

BF-admins agree to remove header information that isn't useful,
to reduce noise.
- BEGIN/END license blocks
Developers should add non license comments as separate comment blocks.
No need for separator text.
- Contributors
This is often invalid, outdated or misleading
especially when splitting files.
It's more useful to git-blame to find out who has developed the code.
See P901 for script to perform these edits.

There were at least three copies of those:
- OB_RECALC* family of flags, which are rudiment of an old
dependency graph system.
- PSYS_RECALC* which were used by old dependency graph system
as a separate set since the graph itself did not handle
particle systems.
- DEG_TAG_* which was used to tag IDs.
Now there is a single set, which defines what can be tagged
and queried for an update. It also has some aggregate flags
to make queries simpler.
Lets once and for all solve the madness of those flags, stick
to a single set, which will not overlap with anything or require
any extra conversion.
Technically, shouldn't be measurable user difference, but some
of the agregate flags for few dependency graph components did
change.

With this we have a way to tell that a collection has visible objects
but not all of its objects are visible.
|
|
* has_objects()
* has_visible_objects(view_layer)
* has_selected_objects(view_layer)

Just use Collection name (same as for material slots e.g.).
That way, one can access those by their names as well, in
LayerCollection.children ... collection property (yeah, collection,
collection, and moar collection).
|
|
RNA's ViewLayer would present 'first level' of layer collection as a
list (collection property), when it is actually now only a single item,
same as the scene's master collection.
Note: did not try to update view_layer python tests, those are already
fully broken for quiet some time I guess (they still assume
view_layer.collections to be mutable e.g.)...

In the outliner, right click > view layer > set indirect only. This is
like clearing camera ray visibility on objects in the collection, and is
temporary until we have more general dynamic overrides.

In the outliner, right click > view layer > set holdout. This is
