2015-07-05Change default for bevel to match previous behavior.Howard Trickey
Have reconsidered and feel it best to try matching previous behavior (doing "loop slides" where possible) as default. This will avoid the need to change regression tests, among other things.
2015-07-05Add 'loop slide' option to bevel. See T45260Howard Trickey
Current behavior of bevel is to 'loop slide' along unbeveled edges when possible, but this produces uneven bevel widths sometimes, so this option lets user choose between having the loop slide effect or having more even bevel widths. Trying it out with default being 'no loop slide', so different from current behavior. May reverse this choice later, depending on user reactions.
2015-05-12Depsgraph: New dependency graph integration commitSergey Sharybin
This commit integrates the work done so far on the new dependency graph system, where goal was to replace legacy depsgraph with the new one, supporting loads of neat features like: - More granular dependency relation nature, which solves issues with fake cycles in the dependencies. - Move towards all-animatable, by better integration of drivers into the system. - Lay down some basis for upcoming copy-on-write, overrides and so on. The new system is living side-by-side with the previous one and disabled by default, so nothing will become suddenly broken. The way to enable new depsgraph is to pass `--new-depsgraph` command line argument. It's a bit early to consider the system production-ready, there are some TODOs and issues were discovered during the merge period, they'll be addressed ASAP. But it's important to merge, because it's the only way to attract artists to really start testing this system. There are number of assorted documents related on the design of the new system: * http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Aligorith/GSoC2013_Depsgraph#Design_Documents * http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Nazg-gul/DependencyGraph There are also some user-related information online: * http://code.blender.org/2015/02/blender-dependency-graph-branch-for-users/ * http://code.blender.org/2015/03/more-dependency-graph-tricks/ Kudos to everyone who was involved into the project: - Joshua "Aligorith" Leung -- design specification, initial code - Lukas "lukas_t" Toenne -- integrating code into blender, with further fixes - Sergey "Sergey" "Sharybin" -- some mocking around, trying to wrap up the project and so - Bassam "slikdigit" Kurdali -- stressing the new system, reporting all the issues and recording/writing documentation. - Everyone else who i forgot to mention here :)
2014-10-15Bevel modifier: Add weight support for vertices bevelling.Bastien Montagne
Nothing to say here, really, just a couple of lines to add to get it working...
2014-07-17Fix T34664: bevel face material can be set in tool and modifier.Howard Trickey
Now the bevel tool, modifier, and internal operator have a material slot # parameter that the user can set. If left at default of -1, behavior is as current -- bevel face material is taken from the closest original face (this may be ambiguous). If material slot is >= 0, it gives the material slot index number for the material to use.
2014-04-30Code cleanup: remove unused includesCampbell Barton
Opted to keep includes if they are used indirectly (even if removing is possible).
2014-02-07Bevel Modifier: fix bug T37916, bad result after mirror modifier.Howard Trickey
Bevel needs the vertex normals to be correct and they are not normally recalculated after a previous modifier, like mirror. Adding 'dependsOnNormals' -> returns true to modifier info for Bevel fixes the problem.
2014-01-26Code Cleanup: style and correct API class refCampbell Barton
2014-01-24Bevel modifier can use vertex groups for edge bevel now.Howard Trickey
Until now, the "vertex group" limit method in the modifier only worked for "vertex only" bevels. With this change, edges with both ends in a vertex group will be beveled in the non-"vertex only" case. Also changed the test for being in a vertex group from "any nonzero weight" to "weight >= 0.5". This is because cascaded bevels on disjoint vertex groups did not give disjoint bevels, because weight interpolation would give non-zero weights to newly created vertices in earlier bevels. Chose 0.5 because that won't result from interpolation, but still allows some dilution (e.g., cascaded bevels on the same vertex group).
2014-01-23Cleanup: int/short to bool in BKE_cdderivedmesh.h functions (and TRUE/FALSE ↵Bastien Montagne
to true/false in code using them).
2014-01-14Bevel Modifier: add width type and profile control.Howard Trickey
This adds to the modifier the new controls that have been added to the bevel tool.
2014-01-08Add profile control parameter to Bevel.Howard Trickey
Parameter controls concavity / convexity. <.25 means: concave inward .25 means: straight slanted >.25 means: concave outward .5 means: circular (the default) 1 means: straight along original sides For now, there is a hard lower limit of .15 because more work is needed to get decent results in the range below that. The profile is actually a superellipse, and the parameter is 1/4 of the exponent in the implicit equation for a superellipse, except at the extreme values of 0 and 1.
2013-12-03Cleanup: Internal degrees removal.Bastien Montagne
This patch changes most of the reamining degrees usage in internal code into radians. I let a few which I know off asside, for reasons explained below - and I'm not sure to have found out all of them. WARNING: this introduces forward incompatibility, which means files saved from this version won't open 100% correctly in previous versions (a few angle properties would use radians values as degrees...). Details: - Data: -- Lamp.spotsize: Game engine exposed this setting in degrees, to not break the API here I kept it as such (using getter/setter functions), still using radians internally. -- Mesh.smoothresh: Didn't touch to this one, as we will hopefully replace it completely by loop normals currently in dev. - Modifiers: -- EdgeSplitModifierData.split_angle, BevelModifierData.bevel_angle: Done. - Postprocessing: -- WipeVars.angle (sequencer's effect), NodeBokehImage.angle, NodeBoxMask.rotation, NodeEllipseMask.rotation: Done. - BGE: -- bConstraintActuator: Orientation type done (the minloc[0] & maxloc[0] cases). Did not touch to 'limit location' type, it can also limit rotation, but it exposes through RNA the same limit_min/limit_max, which hence can be either distance or angle values, depending on the mode. Will leave this to BGE team. -- bSoundActuator.cone_outer_angle_3d, bSoundActuator.cone_inner_angle_3d: Done (note I kept degrees in BGE itself, as it seems this is the expected value here...). -- bRadarSensor.angle: Done. 2013-11-10Added options for how bevel amount is measured.Howard Trickey
Now there is an 'Offset Type' dropdown on tool shelf with types: Offset - current method, offset of new edge from old along sliding face Width - width of new bevel face (if segments=1) Depth - amount a chamfering plane moves down from original edge Percent - percent of way sliding edges move along their adjacent edges The different options mainly are useful when beveling more than one edge at once. Leaving as a TODO to put these in the modifier, as doing that has more permanent effects so want to let users shake out problems with this first.
2013-08-23move bmesh tools into their own include,Campbell Barton
changes to tool args would rebuild far too many files and these are mainly by modifiers outside of bmesh.
2013-08-17style cleanupCampbell Barton
2013-07-23code cleanup: remove deprecated bevel code (unused since 2.64)Campbell Barton
2013-06-03fix [#35555] Collada: export destroys mesh in some casesCampbell Barton
add arguments to calculate normals when converting to bmesh: BM_mesh_bm_from_me, DM_to_bmesh This gives some speedup to undo (which didnt need to re-calculate vertex normals), and array modifier which doesnt need to calculate face normals at all
2013-05-30modifier stack: lazy initialize normalsCampbell Barton
many modifiers were calculating normals, when those normals were ignored by the next modifier. now flag normals as dirty and recalculate for modifiers that set use `dependsOnNormals()` callback. Quick test on mesh with 12 modifiers (mostly build type), calculated normals 6 times, now it only runs once - so this will give some speedup too.
2013-05-29Make sure bool will always have the same size in C and C++Sergey Sharybin
There were an issues with data structures defined in headers and being used by both C and C++ on systems with stdbool unavailable. This happened because bool in this case will be defined as unsigned int, which is 4 bytes. But C++'s bool is only 1 byte and this lead to alignment issues. Now bool is always 1 byte, also made sure there's no situation like bool foo = BitField & BitFlag, which could give overflow issues. Use (BitField & BitFlag) != 0 instead. Fixes #35553: Compositor broken (Backdrop & Preview)
2013-05-02Fix #35174: dynamic paint displacement missing in render.Brecht Van Lommel
A previous bugfix disabled the dynamic paint modifier for orco texture coordinate evaluation of the modifier stack. However the MOD_APPLY_USECACHE flag is not a good way to check if the modifier is evaluated for orcos. Instead I've added a MOD_APPLY_ORCO flag. Also removed a bunch of applyModifierEM callbacks, none of them served a purpose except for the subsurf modifier.
2013-04-24Fix bug #34611: bevel overlap limitHoward Trickey
The previous fix limited overlap, but is sometimes too conservative, and artists want way to turn off the limiting, so added 'Allow Overlap' option to modifier.
2013-03-13Fix bevel modifier bug #34611, limit bevel amount needed.Howard Trickey
This is a quick fix that perhaps overestimates the point of first geometry collision, but at least for now it should allow models that used the old modifier and a too-big bevel amount to not look awful. The correct solution to this problem is much more involved and I'll get to it later.
2013-02-21Enable new bevel tool code in bevel modifier.Howard Trickey
Now modifier takes a segments parameter. Bevel edge weights will multiply the overall amount. For vertex-only, you can give a vertex group name, and the weights in that will multiply the overall amount.
2012-12-28Add 'vertex_only' option to bevel tool.Howard Trickey
Right now, changing segments to > 1 doesn't do anything, but intend to work on making that cause rounded corners.
2012-11-18bmesh: lazy initialize bmesh tool flag pool, has the advantage that ↵Campbell Barton
modifiers that dont use bmesh operators can skip allocating it.
2012-11-18bmesh: move internal API flags out of BMFlagLayer, into BMHeader which was ↵Campbell Barton
being padded up anyway, added static assert to make sure it stays <=16 bytes.
2012-11-18bevel now only takes manifold edges (so it doesnt need to check for them)Campbell Barton
2012-11-18commented bevel modifier code now calls bevel direct rather then the bevel ↵Campbell Barton
operator.
2012-11-16minor edits so new bevel operator can be used from the modifier (testing ↵Campbell Barton
only, still disabled by default)
2012-10-24add CDDM_from_bmesh(), avoids using BMEditMesh in modifiers.Campbell Barton
2012-10-24style cleanup: modifier structsCampbell Barton
2012-10-22code cleanup: check defgroup_name_index() return value != -1, rather then ↵Campbell Barton
checking >= 0. also remove unused bmesh decimator code.
2012-09-20code cleanup: remove unused macros, commet some which may be useful later - ↵Campbell Barton
or good to keep for completeness. quieted some warnings and add flags -Wmissing-include-dirs and -Wno-div-by-zero to cmake/gcc
2012-07-21add option so operators can be called with a flag, currently the only flag ↵Campbell Barton
is to respect hidden geometry. this is useful for bmesh tools that operate in object mode or for modifiers which would previously use hidden faces in some cases.
2012-05-09Refactor of modifiers' apply function: now use a single bit-flag parameter ↵Bastien Montagne
to pass options, instead of having one parameter per boolean flag (i.e. replaces current useRenderParams and isFinalCalc by a single ModifierApplyFlag flag. ModifierApplyFlag is an enum defined in BKE_modifier.h). This way we won't anymore have to edit all modifier files when e.g. adding a new control flag! Should have no effect over modifier behavior.
2012-05-06style cleanup: modifiersCampbell Barton
2012-04-19remove BM_ITER, BM_ITER_INDEX macros, use ELEM or MESH variants only (the ↵Campbell Barton
maceros had unused args in both cases).
2012-04-19style cleanup: BM_ITER / BM_ITER_INDEX / BMO_ITERCampbell Barton
2012-04-19fix bevel edge angle (wasnt hooked up to new code), vertex-bevel angle isnt ↵Campbell Barton
working still
2012-03-26fix [#30598] Bad 3D view display & render with smooth meshCampbell Barton
Sergey's suggestion - just call calc normals fixes.
2012-03-24style cleanup: follow style guide for formatting of if/for/while loops, and ↵Campbell Barton
else if's
2012-03-16bmesh: being back bevel modifier from 2.62 stable.Campbell Barton
this is no big improvement but at least its not a regression. using the new operator for the bevel modifier can be enabled again be uncommenting a define.
2012-03-11remove Object member from BMesh struct - was only used for undo and ↵Campbell Barton
BMEditMesh already stores an object pointer. also fix for own mistake with mesh conversion refactor, shape key index was off by 1 when switching editmode.
2012-03-09style cleanup: comment blocksCampbell Barton
2012-02-24bmesh py api (some api changes and doc additions)Campbell Barton
* remove 'select' and 'hide' from BMLoop * remove BMesh.update * add BMesh.normal_update(skip_hidden=False) * add BMElemSet.index_update(), eg: bm.verts.index_update() bmesh api * BM_mesh_normals_update() now takes skip_hidden as an argument (previously this was default behavior), however this isnt good when using BMesh modifiers, where you want all normals to be recalculated. * add bm_iter_itype_htype_map[], to get the iter type from a BMesh iterator.
2012-02-20added boolean type for bmesh operators, will make python wrapping clearer ↵Campbell Barton
and also makes existing calls more obvious. also corrected some error reports.
2012-02-13own error - mixup with BMO_slot_mat_get/setCampbell Barton
2012-02-12BMesh api function naming.Campbell Barton
`_set` suffix was used in two ways (confusing) * to set a flag to be enabled. * to set a value passed as an argument. now use enable/disable rather then set/clear for functions which change flags. also remove BME_weld.c, the file didnt contain much code and the current extrude works well
2012-02-12bmesh minor refactorCampbell Barton
* add DM_to_bmesh_ex, DM_to_bmesh for converting a derived mesh to a BMesh (rather than a BMEditMesh) * have a generic variable for allocsize: bm_mesh_allocsize_default, rather than copying the values about.
