This allows us to remove a callback from the modifier type info struct.
In the future the these modifiers might just be replaced by nodes
internally anyway, but in the meantime it's nice to unify the handling
of evaluated geometry a bit.

Things like pointers to particle systems, or softbody data being stored
outside of its modifier, make it impossible for internal modifier copy
data code to be self-contained currently. It requires extra processing.
In existing code this was handled in several different places, in
several ways, and alltogether fairly inconsistently. Some cases were
even not properly handled, causing e.g. crashes as in T82945.
This commit addresses those issues by:
* Adding comments about the hackish/unsafe parts `psys` implies when
copying some modifier data (since we need to ensure particle system
copying and remapping of those pointers separately).
* Adding as-best-as-possible handling of those cases to
`BKE_object_copy_modifier` (note that it remains fragile, but is
expected to behave 'good enough' in any practical usecase).
* Remove special handling for specific editor code
(`copy_or_reuse_particle_system`). This should never have been
accepted in ED code area, and is now handled by
`BKE_object_copy_modifier`.
* Factorize copying of the whole modifier stack into new
`BKE_object_modifier_stack_copy`, now used by both `object_copy_data`
and `BKE_object_link_modifiers`.
Note that this implies that `BKE_object_copy_modifier` and
`BKE_object_copy_gpencil_modifier` are now to be used exclusively to
copy single modifiers. Full modifier stack copy should always use
`BKE_object_modifier_stack_copy` instead.
Fix T82945: Crash when dragging modifiers in Outliner.

Since the initial merge of the geometry nodes project, the modifyPointCloud
function already was already modifying a geometry set. The function wasn't
renamed back then, because then the merge would have touched many
more files.

This removes `foreachObjectLink` from `ModifierTypeInfo`, `GpencilModifierTypeInfo`
and `ShaderFxTypeInfo`. There is no need to have both, `foreachObjectLink` and `foreachIDLink`.
There is not code that actually depends on `foreachObjectLink`.

As noted in T80164, there are quite a few area of Blender where the
"Reset to Default Value" operator in button context menus doesn't work.
Modifiers are one of them, because the DNA defaults system was never
set up for them.
Additionally, this should make modifier versioning easier. Whenever a
new field is added it should be automatically initialized to the
default value.
I had to make some ordering changes in the following modifiers to work
around an error with `-Wsign-conversion` in the macros:
- Solidify Modifier
- Corrective Smooth Modifier
- Screw Modifier
Some modifiers are special cases and are skipped in this commit:
- Data Transfer Modifier
- Cloth Modifier
- Fluid Modifier
- Softbody Modifier

For modifier shortcuts we added a "custom_data" field to panels.
This commit uses the same system for accessing the list data that
corresponds to each panel. This way the context is only used once
and the modifier for each panel can be accessed more easily later.
This ends up being mostly a cleanup commit with a few small changes
in interface_panel.c. The large changes in the UI functions are due
to the fact that the panel custom data is now passed around as a
single pointer instead of being created again for every panel.
The list_index variable in Panel.runtime is removed as it's now
unnecessary.

Functions `mesh_create_eval_final_view()` and
`mesh_create_eval_final_render()` were doing the exact same thing,
except for a hack introduced in d3eb9dddd6b4 (2012-10-08, Better fix for
T32846: dupligroup messes up particle instancing on rendering) that
appears to be no longer necessary. Besides that, these functions had
confusing names. Their functionality changed over time, and whether to
do for-render or for-viewport evaluation is now actually determined by
the depsgraph evaluation mode. This means that the `..._render` function
could evaluate a mesh with viewport settings, and vice versa.
The functions are now merged into `mesh_create_eval_final()`, and the
hack has been removed. The `OB_NO_PSYS_UPDATE` flag has been removed
entirely (instead of keeping it around as deprecated flag), because it
was always only temporarily set on objects during mesh evaluation and
thus not saved to the blend file.
No expected functional changes as far as users are concerned.

This is part of a greater blenloader decentralization effort (T76372).
For modifiers the goal is that fewer files have to be modified when
a new modifier is added.
This patch just adds the `blendWrite` and `blendRead` callbacks to
`ModifierTypeInfo` but does not change any other code yet. In the next
steps, modifier specific code will be moved from `writefile.c` and
`readfile.c` into their corresponding `MOD_*` files.
|
|
This patch implements the list panel system D7490 for modifiers.
It also moves modifier drawing to a callback in ModifierTypeInfo
in line with the extensible architecture refactoring goal T75724.
This adds a PanelRegister callback and utilities for registering
panels and subpanels. It also adds the callbacks for expansion saving
and drag and drop reordering described in D7490.
These utilities, callbacks, and other common UI elements shared
between modifiers live in MOD_ui_common.c.
Because modifier buttons are now in panels, we can make use of
subpanels for organization. The UI layouts also use the single
column layout style consistently used elsewhere in Blender.
Additionally, the mode-setting buttons are aligned and ordered
consistently with the outliner.
However, the large number of UI changes in this patch may mean
that additional polishing is required in master.
Thanks to William Reynish (@billreynish) who did a fair amount of the
layout work and to Julian Eisel (@Severin) for consistent help.

Modifier stack evaluation would copy mesh settings other than mesh topology
automatically, outside of the individual modifier evaluation. This leads to hard
to understand code, and makes it unclear which settings are available in following
modifiers, and which only after the entire stack is evaluated.
Now every modifier is responsible to ensure the mesh it outputs preserves materials,
texture space and other settings, or alters them as needed.

The general idea of this change is to have a runtime data pointer
in the ModifierData, so it can be preserved through copy-on-write
updates by the dependency graph.
This is where subdivision surface modifier can store its topology
cache, so it is not getting trashed on every copy-on-write which
is happening when moving a vertex.
Similar mechanism should be used by multiresolution, dynamic paint
and some other modifiers which cache evaluated data.
This fixes T61746.
Thing to keep in mind, that there are more reports about slow
subdivision surface in the tracker, but that boils down to the
fact that those have a lot of extraordinary vertices, and hence
a lot slower to evaluated topology.
Other thing is, this speeds up oeprations which doesn't change
topology (i.e. moving vertices).

We already have different storages for cddata of verts, edges etc.,
'simply' do the same for the mask flags we use all around Blender code
to request some data, or limit some operation to some layers, etc.
Reason we need this is that some cddata types (like Normals) are
actually shared between verts/polys/loops, and we don’t want to generate
clnors everytime we request vnors!
As a side note, this also does final fix to T59338, which was the
trigger for this patch (need to request computed loop normals for
another mesh than evaluated one).

There is an issue of hair being completely messed up when
switching to a simulation view layer for Autumn.
Restoring back the code which was re-setting particles on
file load. This will re-set unbacked particles on file load
but this appears to be happening in 2.7 as well.
Can not reproduce bugs which were fixed in this area recently,
so maybe it's finally tackled (fingers crossed!).
|
|
Fix T61289: Emitting particles from instances not working properly
The first issue has been re-introduced by a code which was dealing
with missing hair after opening the file. That was re-setting all
particle systems all the time because modifier flags were not copied
back to original. This made every modifier run to be seem as an
initial file open.
Now we copy flags back to an original modifier. But also we are
trying to not do any resets unless needed in that case. This way
we can preserve in-memory caches.
Other part of the change is related on re-setting particle system
if number of mesh elements changed. But we only do it if the
modifier has been already evaluated once.
|
|
Move \ingroup onto same line to be more compact and
make it clear the file is in the group.
|
|
Restore reset on file open, at least for now.

The issue was caused by dependency graph resetting particles
when evaluating copy-on-write version of object. Solved by
only doing reset from dependency graph on user edits.
Other issue was caused by modifier itself trying to compare
topology and reset particles when number of vertices or faces
changed. This isn't reliable, since topology might change even
with same number of elements. But also, since copy-on-written
object initially always have those fields zero-ed the reset
was happening on every F12.
The latter issue is solved by moving reset from modifier stack
to places where we exit edit/paint modes which might be changing
topology.
There is still weird issue of particles generated at some
weird location after tapping tab twice, but this is not a new
issue in 2.8 branch and is to be looked separately.

There were at least three copies of those:
- OB_RECALC* family of flags, which are rudiment of an old
dependency graph system.
- PSYS_RECALC* which were used by old dependency graph system
as a separate set since the graph itself did not handle
particle systems.
- DEG_TAG_* which was used to tag IDs.
Now there is a single set, which defines what can be tagged
and queried for an update. It also has some aggregate flags
to make queries simpler.
Lets once and for all solve the madness of those flags, stick
to a single set, which will not overlap with anything or require
any extra conversion.
Technically, shouldn't be measurable user difference, but some
of the agregate flags for few dependency graph components did
change.
