More stupid mistake in recent enhanced reports for file load code,
rB82c17082ba0e left some read-after-free situations.
|
|
This reverts commit rB3a48147b8ab92, and fixes the issues with linking
etc.
Change compared to previous buggy commit (rBf8d219dfd4c31) is that
new `BlendFileReadReports` reports are now passed to the lowest level
function generating the `FileData` (`filedata_new()`), which ensures
(and asserts) that all code using it does have a valid non-NULL pointer
to a `BlendFileReadReport` data.
Sorry for the noise, it's always when you think a change is trivial and
do not test it well enough that you end up doing those kind of
mistakes...

This patch fixes many minor spelling mistakes, all in comments or
console output. Mostly contractions like can't, won't, don't, its/it's,

Note: Linking in this case as in link vs. append. Easily confused with linking
a data-block to multiple usages (e.g. single material used by multiple
objects).
Adds a drop-down to the Asset Browser header to choose between Link and Append.
This is probably gonna be a temporary place, T54642 shows where this could be
placed eventually.
Linking support is crucial for usage of the asset browser in production
environments. It just wasn't enabled yet because a) the asset project currently
focuses on single user, not production assets, and b) because there were many
unkowns still for the workflow that have big impact on production use as well.
With the recently held asset workshop I'm more confident with enabling linking,
as design ideas relevant to production use were confirmed.

The `MAX_LIBARRAY` define was an annoying doublon to the `INDEX_ID_MAX` enum value
now defined in `DNA_ID.h`, and it is no more useful.
And comments were somewhat outdated. Also added an explanation about
chosen order for the `INDEX_ID_<IDTYPE>` order.

phrasing, using correct terminology, and not including python API

`WM_operator_properties_filesel()` allows C operators to set a display or sort
type for the File Browser to use. But the File Browser would always override
that because of an invalid `_is_set()` check. (The operators don't actually set
the value, they only set the property's default value.)
The only operator affected by this is "Recover Auto Save". It is supposed to
show a vertical list ordered chronologically. It used settings from the
previous File Browser usage before this patch.
Operators using the File Browser should generally use
`FILE_DEFAULTDISPLAY`/`FILE_SORT_DEFAULT` now, except if they have a reason not
to. See comments at their definition.
----
This makes it so operators that set a different display or sort type
don't change the sort or display type for the next File Browser operation.
So using "Recover Auto Save" entirely isolates display and sort type from other
operations.

We have our own assert implementation, `BLI_assert()` that is prefered over the
C standard library one. Its output is more consistent across compilers and
makes termination on assert failure optional (through `WITH_ASSERT_ABORT`).
In many places we'd include the C library header without ever accessing it.

This patch supports instantiating object data on append/link,
reported as a bug T58304.
This is an option, available when linking/appending,

Move arguments to BLO_library_link_{begin/named_part/end} into
a single parameter struct, to ensure arguments always match.
This allows is to skip tagging ID's LIB_TAG_DOIT when it's not needed,
previously it was always cleared just in case it was needed.
This also makes it possible to remove BLO_library_link_named_part_ex
which was only used when tagging was needed.

This commit affects `id_sort_by_name()` and `check_for_dupid()` helper:
* Add a new parameter, `ID *id_sorting_hint`, to `id_sort_by_name()`,
and when non-NULL, check if we can insert `id` immediately before or
after it. This can dramatically reduce time spent in that function.
* Use loop over whole list in `check_for_dupid()` to also define the
likely ID pointer that will be neighbor with our new one.
This gives another decent speedup to all massive addition cases:
| Number and type of names of IDs | old code | new code | speed improvement |
| -------------------------------- | -------- | -------- | ----------------- |
| 40K, mixed (14k rand, 26k const) | 39s | 33s | 18% |
| 40K, fully random | 51s | 42s | 21% |
| 40K, fully constant | 40s | 34s | 18% |
Combined with the previous commits, this makes massive addition of IDs more
than twice as fast as previously.

This is a general redesign of the File Browser GUI and interaction
methods. For screenshots, check patch D5601.
Main changes in short:
* File Browser as floating window
* New layout of regions
* Popovers for view and filter options
* Vertical list view with interactive column header
* New and updated icons
* Keymap consistency fixes
* Many tweaks and fixes to the drawing of views
----
General:
* The file browser now opens as temporary floating window. It closes on
Esc. The header is hidden then.
* When the file browser is opened as regular editor, the header remains
visible.
* All file browser regions are now defined in Python (the button
layout).
* Adjusted related operator UI names.
Keymap:
Keymap is now consistent with other list-based views in Blender, such as
the Outliner.
* Left click to select, double-click to open
* Right-click context menus
* Shift-click to fill selection
* Ctrl-click to extend selection
Operator options:
These previously overlapped with the source list, which caused numerous
issues with resizing and presenting many settings in a small panel area.
It was also generally inconsistent with Blender.
* Moved to new sidebar, which can easily be shown or hidden using a
prominent Options toggle.
* IO operators have new layouts to match this new sidebar, using
sub-panels. This will have to be committed separately (Add-on
repository).
* If operators want to show the options by default, they have the option
to do so (see `WM_FILESEL_SHOW_PROPS`, `hide_props_region`), otherwise
they are hidden by default.
General Layout:
The layout has been changed to be simpler, more standard, and fits
better in with Blender 2.8.
* More conventional layout (file path at top, file name at the bottom,
execute/cancel buttons in bottom right).
* Use of popovers to group controls, and allow for more descriptive
naming.
* Search box is always live now, just like Outliner.
Views:
* Date Modified column combines both date and time, also uses user
friendly strings for recent dates (i.e. "Yesterday", "Today").
* Details columns (file size, modification date/time) are now toggleable
for all display types, they are not hardcoded per display type.
* File sizes now show as B, KB, MB, ... rather than B, KiB, MiB, … They
are now also calculated using base 10 of course.
* Option to sort in inverse order.
Vertical List View:
* This view now used a much simpler single vertical list with columns
for information.
* Users can click on the headers of these columns to order by that
category, and click again to reverse the ordering.
Icons:
* Updated icons by Jendrzych, with better centering.
* Files and folders have new icons in Icon view.
* Both files and folders have reworked superimposed icons that show
users the file/folder type.
* 3D file documents correctly use the 3d file icon, which was unused
previously.
* Workspaces now show their icon on Link/Append - also when listed in
the Outliner.
Minor Python-API breakage:
* `bpy.types.FileSelectParams.display_type`: `LIST_SHORT` and
`LIST_LONG` are replaced by `LIST_VERTICAL` and `LIST_HORIZONTAL`.
Removes the feature where directories would automatically be created if
they are entered into the file path text button, but don't exist. We
were not sure if users use it enough to keep it. We can definitely bring
it back.

Do not instance linked object immediately in scene, this was never a
good idea and is doomed to fail nowadays, with complex relations between
objects, collections and scenes.
Instead, this commit refactors a bit linking code to add loose objects
to current scene *after* everything has been imported, and ID pointers
have been properly remapped to new ones - i.e. once new linked data is
supposed to be fully valid, just like we were already doing with
collections.
As a bonus, it means we do not have to pass around scene, view3d etc. to
`BLO_library_link_named_part_ex()` and co.
