2023-11-03strvec: drop unnecessary include of hex.hLinus Arver
In 41771fa435 (cache.h: remove dependence on hex.h; make other files include it explicitly, 2023-02-24) we added this as part of a larger mechanical refactor. But strvec doesn't actually depend on hex.h, so remove it. Signed-off-by: Linus Arver <linusa@google.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2023-07-05git-compat-util: move alloc macros to git-compat-util.hCalvin Wan
alloc_nr, ALLOC_GROW, and ALLOC_GROW_BY are commonly used macros for dynamic array allocation. Moving these macros to git-compat-util.h with the other alloc macros focuses alloc.[ch] to allocation for Git objects and additionally allows us to remove inclusions to alloc.h from files that solely used the above macros. 2023-02-24alloc.h: move ALLOC_GROW() functions from cache.hElijah Newren
This allows us to replace includes of cache.h with includes of the much smaller alloc.h in many places. It does mean that we also need to add includes of alloc.h in a number of C files. Signed-off-by: Elijah Newren <newren@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2021-07-01*.c *_init(): define in terms of corresponding *_INIT macroÆvar Arnfjörð Bjarmason
Change the common patter in the codebase of duplicating the initialization logic between an *_INIT macro and a corresponding *_init() function to use the macro as the canonical source of truth. Now we no longer need to keep the function up-to-date with the macro version. This implements a suggestion by Jeff King who found that under -O2 [1] modern compilers will init new version in place without the extra copy[1]. The performance of a single *_init() won't matter in most cases, but even if it does we're going to be producing efficient machine code to perform these operations. 1. https://lore.kernel.org/git/YNyrDxUO1PlGJvCn@coredump.intra.peff.net/ Signed-off-by: Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason <avarab@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
2020-07-31strvec: rename struct fieldsJeff King
The "argc" and "argv" names made sense when the struct was argv_array, but now they're just confusing. Let's rename them to "nr" (which we use for counts elsewhere) and "v" (which is rather terse, but reads well when combined with typical variable names like "args.v"). Note that we have to update all of the callers immediately. Playing tricks with the preprocessor is hard here, because we wouldn't want to rewrite unrelated tokens. 2020-07-29strvec: rename files from argv-array to strvecJeff King
This requires updating #include lines across the code-base, but that's all fairly mechanical, and was done with: git ls-files '*.c' '*.h' | xargs perl -i -pe 's/argv-array.h/strvec.h/' Signed-off-by: Jeff King <peff@peff.net> Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <gitster@pobox.com>
