2022-03-01read-tree: explicitly disallow prefixes with a leading '/'Victoria Dye
Exit with an error if a prefix provided to `git read-tree --prefix` begins with '/'. In most cases, prefixes like this result in an "invalid path" error; however, the repository root would be interpreted as valid when specified as '--prefix=/'. This is due to leniency around trailing directory separators on prefixes (e.g., allowing both '--prefix=my-dir' and '--prefix=my-dir/') - the '/' in the prefix is actually the *trailing* slash, although it could be misinterpreted as a *leading* slash. To remove the confusing repo root-as-'/' case and make it clear that prefixes should not begin with '/', exit with an error if the first character of the provided prefix is '/'. 2021-10-13leak tests: mark some read-tree tests as passing with SANITIZE=leakÆvar Arnfjörð Bjarmason
Mark some tests that match "*read-tree*" as passing when git is compiled with SANITIZE=leak. They'll now be listed as running under the "GIT_TEST_PASSING_SANITIZE_LEAK=true" test mode (the "linux-leaks" CI target). We still have around half the tests that match "*read-tree*" failing, but let's whitelist those that don't. 2014-04-29t1003-read-tree-prefix.sh: use the $( ... ) construct for command substitutionElia Pinto
The Git CodingGuidelines prefer the $(...) construct for command substitution instead of using the backquotes `...`. The backquoted form is the traditional method for command substitution, and is supported by POSIX. However, all but the simplest uses become complicated quickly. In particular, embedded command substitutions and/or the use of double quotes require careful escaping with the backslash character. The patch was generated by: for _f in $(find . -name "*.sh") do sed -i 's@`\(.*\)`@$(\1)@g' ${_f} done and then carefully proof-read. 2006-08-04Add a couple of subdirectory tests.Junio C Hamano
We still have too few of them, but we have to start from somewhere. The general rule is to make tests easy to debug when run with -v (notice use of seemingly useless echo everywhere in the new tests). Signed-off-by: Junio C Hamano <junkio@cox.net>
